Well after a hectic few months, I am able to join in the discussion!

Is anyone going to see the new movie "Kakoda"?

Hi Grimmo and welcome aboard.

Dave, I've got no idea what's happening on ANZAC Day for me.  It is usually something involving the kids but SWMBO will let me know I'm sure.

Sean if you are still hunting around for the Spitfire Mk.IX, make sure you look out for the Spitfire Mk.IX / XVI from Revell AG.  It's the Hasegawa kit re-boxed and is considerably cheaper than the original.  Here's the box top.

BUMP

Wityh ANZAC day coming up I was wondering what folks are going to be doing on the day? Being Army I have to go to the Dawn Service in the local town prior to the rest of the day at the SGTs Mess amongst other places. Last year I went to the Dawn Service in Melbourne but am unable to this year.

These guys will get you one pretty quickly although there'll be shipping costs. They have a couple of flavours of the IX listed here:

Welcome Grimmo! It's good to see another Australian pop in. I'm pretty sure there are a few more here from sunny Brisvegas.

Just wanted to stick my head in and say hello. Live in Brisvegas, work as a Security Guard and am also involved in the SES. I have all sorts of modelling interests, from bikes, trucks, carc, figures, plane to even space ships! I am working on around 8 different models at the moment, hope to finish some off soon, as i have around another 20 to go.

ICM also do a Mk IX in 1/48 which isn't too bad if you get one of the good ones. Mine needs replacement prop blades and seat but is also getting new wheels. Some of the quality control is a bit shoddy at times but for $15 - $17 you can't complain too much.

There has also been an update on http://www.aussiemodeller.com/ for anyone interested in the CT-4 and seeing a very well painted 1/48 Vampire Target Tug painted in the yellow/black scheme amongst other things.

This is also a bit of a bump as it seems to be slipping down the bottom of the page again.

I was looking at the Hobbyco (Sydney) website and came across one. It is on the site as a 1X but if you look at photo it looks like IX. Product code is 9506. The only other place I saw any advertised was Hannants in the UK. They had 3 and the codes were HA09630; HA09656 and HAJT079 (was a IXC).

Hope this helps.

Just had a look. Definitely a Mk IX, in IDF colours.

Edit: (H09630) and (H09533 "Closterman") are listed as available from Frontline Hobbies in Newcastle.

If anyone stumbles across a Hasegawa Mk IX Spitfire in their travels could they let me know please.

I've got a couple of detail kits to suit the kit, and now all I need is the kit!!!

Probably went around it the wrong way, kit first THEN detail bits, but hey when you see a deal on eBay, ya gotta take it.

Hi Mick

Campbelltown itself has a small hobby shop. If I can't get my stuff there I use Frontline Hobbies in Newcastle which has a great mail order service.

I bet you don't regret moving to QLD...

Hi all, Glen here from the far south west of Sydney town, Campbelltown area on the way to the beautiful Southern Highlands.

I've only been modelling for about a year (apart from when I was a kid). At the moment I find myself leaving the 1/35 tanks to one side while I concentrate on scenic dioramas, trees, streams, grassy fields etc. I might add, this is one overlooked modelling category here is Australia. Maybe I'll start a club.

Anyway it's good to know we're all here!

This is a good thing, at least there is always somewhere for us lot to catch up, and if were inactive for a while we can rely on this thread to find our bretheren.

I must admit when I first started this thread I never expected to crack the 1,000 post mark or reach 94 pages, go's to show what a friendly bunch we are here in Aussie.

Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Yeah, I've noticed that too on & off since FSM started their new webpage format. I'm amazed cos some of the Group Build and A/C threads would seem to me (at first and with an educated guess) to receive more action time than our humble Aussie watering hole! (and thats a drinking & gathering place, aka Pub, for all you non-Aussies who are reading this! - just a little Aussie Slang 101).

I'm nearly ready to start decalling my OzMods Caribou. My question without notice is;

Which way do the Kangaroo's on the Australian roundels sit.

On the fuselage sides I presume they face nose foward?

On the wings - nose foward and feet towards the fuselage? Top and underside of the wing?

Any help is appreciated.

Andrew its like dave said the roo always faces forward with its feet towards the fuselage, Propeller [8-] and now a bit of  trivia the roo was selected not only because of its easily reconized Australian origin but also it is only one of a few animals that can not go backwards, i.e the roo must always move in the direction that it is facing.  Bow [bow] Please forgive me for this, to many years sent in the RAAF.

MikeBravo,

Welcome back to the modelmaking fold!

I'm a member of the Eastern Suburbs Scale Model Club - ESSMC. You're welcome to visit our meetings on the first Tuesday of the month. We meet at the Box Hill Community Arts Centre - Cnr. Station Street and Combarton Street. Melway 47 D11.

We're a friendly lot, and you will always see a nice selection of models on the tables.
