I was just wondering what other people's modeling interests are, and what they do not like to build. Please specify type and era. Here are my primary interests:
Modeling subjects I do not like:
So which subjects do you like and which do you dislike?
"Gaiety is the most outstanding feature of the Soviet Union." - Josef Stalin
Anything WW2 German, land sea and air.
Aircrfat based in the county of Norfolk from WW2 to the modern day.
Post WW2 US aircraft based on a type by type basis.
Star Wars and Star Trek.
I don't have any i would say i don't like. I just avoid those i don't have much interest in.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Mainly aircraft – any era, mostly 1/72 with occasional forays into 1/48 and 1/144. Subject matter is dictated entirely by how the aircraft looks, and/or its colour scheme, rather than any historical significance – guess I'm strange that way ;)
I've built a bit of armour, a few sci-fi subjects. Even built a motorbike once. I'd like to be able to paint figures, but lack the confidence to do so. Similarly, high gloss car finishes intimidate me although there are several auto subjects I'd like to build one day.
About the only subject matter I can't see myself building is big Japanese robots, but never say never.

Hmm, I don't think there are any I don’t like. I guess I stick to WW2 subjects mostly. Ships, aircraft, armor it doesn’t matter any nationality.
Modern: Sometimes but not too often, mostly NATO and again, ships, aircraft or armor.
Sci Fi: Star Wars and Star Trek, until they come out with Pacific Rim Jaeger’s.
Nonmilitary: Airliners and maybe some cars, but cars are rare.
0 interest in paper.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I am pretty simplistic in my interests:
1/35 AFVs & softskins, WWII thru today
1/48 military aircraft WWI thru today
1/350 ships WWII, Cold War, current
Real Space, with an emphasis on the Space Race era of Sputnik thru Apollo
Sci Fi- mostly Star Wars & Star Trek (original cast & crew series & movies), but also several other movie or TV types as well. Would love to see a UFO series Moonbase Interceptor
Military Figures...
I do not dislike anything, but I rarely dabble in cars, projected projects ( Luft '46 or "paper panzers"), or civil aircraft.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

I'll build anything that piques my interest and give me a sense of challenge.
What I hate:
Clothing & shoe shopping with my wife and stupid people.
modern warwheels (trucks, AFVs, SAMs, SPA)
towed artillery
PLA
JGSDF
dinosaurs
helicopters
RR
commercial ships other than liners
engines (jet, prop, automotive)
Никто не Забыт (No one is Forgotten)Ничто не Забыто (Nothing is Forgotten)
Wow...solid question
I mostly build 1/35, 1/48, 1/72 Anything from WWII to current Military models. As far as SciFi....Star Wars. I have never been in to production automobiles(Mustangs, Camero's and so on).

ON THE BENCH: Spending Time With Family and Friends
1/48 + 1/35 All nationalities and eras
1/48 Aircraft + Jets Any nationalities or eras
1/350 Ships 20th century any nationality
I'm building as comprehensive collection as I can of world war 2 fighters in 1/48 scale. I've got a wall with 12 glass shelves to fill, and reckon I'll be finished about the time I retire or am ready to sell this house and downsize. Then, I'm hoping a museum or local Legion branch will be interested in them and I'll start something else.
I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.
Have fun.
1/72 aircraft any era.
1/350 warships.
Wooden ships mostly 1/96 or larger, so schooners and such.
I don't build cars much anymore.
Don't do figures much.
I don't really get into fantasy as I like historic research.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
I usually build 700 scale WW2 ships and the odd 72 scale armor. I love small scales, mainly because my sel long room is maybe 75 square feet and half of it is my business office.
I like anything and everything that strikes my fancy when I see it (and have $$$ in my pocket).
I don't like----------------------uh--------------------------??????????. Guess I haven't found anything yet. Have to keep looking.

On the Bench: Artesania Latina (aka) Artists in the Latrine 1/75 Bluenose II
I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Balsa scale stick and tissue, 30's, 40's and 50's classics, Stearman, Waco, Howard DGA, etc.
Plastic mostly 1/72 aircraft, anything that appeals to me.
Only military vehicles that I build are for display having consistent association with aircraft, (C-47/ Jeep or Deuce and a half.)
Long ago, Pocher kits.
Patrick

patrick206 has got me thinking. I've always wanted to try my hand on balsa wood & tissue aircraft kits. LOL!
I used to say I modeled anything that moved under its own power. Then I built a few horse-drawn vehicles. Then, I found a kit for a Gutenberg printing press! I guess I have expanded my interest to the point where I will model anything.
Don Stauffer in Minnesota
I do 1/48 scale pre-war and WWII American aircraft mostly. Some 1/72 if I can't find the subject in 1/48. Float planes are also a favorite from any country however.
I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.
Mostly 1/32scale ww2 fighter's, bombers ..wishlist. ...hmmm...1/32scale Do.17..in any variation. ..Henschel Hs 129B2...early version of the P-38 lighting none supercharged. .so so many others too much to list ..all .Japanese bombers too ..
BlackSheepTwoOneFour I'll build anything that piques my interest and give me a sense of challenge. What I hate: Clothing & shoe shopping with my wife and stupid people.
Your kit interests parallel mine. Presently I'm reading about the Spanish Civil War so I want to dive into some kits from that conflict.
As for clothing and shoe shopping, all I can say is, books are your friend. Most places have a nice chair/couch for husbands. My girlfriend sews and I know the location of every stool and seat in Downtown LA's fabric district.
And as for stupid people, yup, those aren't on my like list either.
Likes:
1/48 scale aircraft, WWI, WWII, and modern, etc...
1/35 Armor, WWI, WWII and modern, etc...
1/350 Ships, WWI, WWII amd modern, etc...
Scifi and real space, etc...
Cars and motorcycles, etc...
Figures, etc...
Dislikes:
None, always open minded for something different. Even different scales.
Bruce
On the bench: 1/48 Eduard MiG-21MF
1/35 Takom Merkava Mk.I
Mainly 1/35 armor, US, UK, IDF
Military aircraft, mainly 1/32 cold war era
A few ships, mainly WWI.
I can't really think of anything I don't like, just subjects I'll probably never build. Those are ships because of the multitude of teeny, tiny parts and cars because of the high gloss sheen needed for them to look good. In my stash I have WWII Axis and Allied armor and aircraft, modern armor, Star Trek, superheroes, monsters and TV characters.

Cat Daddy Your kit interests parallel mine. Presently I'm reading about the Spanish Civil War so I want to dive into some kits from that conflict.
And this Republican Schneider is VERY cool:
My favourite is 1/48 aircraft. But I force myself to build other scales as well as ships or land vehicles to have some varity.
Hi !
I think Don Stauffer is the conmensurate modeler , I espied him with my " Ghost Drone " building a model of himself , building a model ! LOL.LOL. No Really , Don , Like myself has opened his repetoirre a whole bunch . I now still prefer ships of the postwar era and any ship there isn't a model of in the civilian world .
I have branched out into very old train engines ( the Trevithick and Rocket ) and a model of a very old Oscillating cylinder , paddle wheel , ship steam engine.
The reason for the Civilian genre . I have worked on many so I could say " Been there done that and what I built IS correct mr. Judge !"
I build 1/48 aircraft from any era really. I used to alternate, modern/classic prop, but lately, all I've finished have been 1950s jets! I have finished two 1/35 tanks over the years and found that to be a lot of fun too and somewhat easier, imho, than aircraft. But for aircraft, only 1/48 for me...OCD and all that.

"All you mugs need to get busy building, and post pics!"
I'm glad everyone's interested in this thread, keep 'em coming!
I like interesting/unusual aircraft, MBTs from all eras, the occasional odd sub, and sci-fi with emphasis on Japanese robots. I "like" 1970-1980 era Formula-1 cars, but so far have not been able to get a good gloss finish.
Stuff I don't like include "historically significant things that won the war, so they are thus proclaimed by experts as more deserving to be kitted as tiny plastic models over any other subject, blah-blah-blah", and anything "itasha" (those Japanese anime girlie-covered cars, planes, tanks, ships, robots, etc.). Sorry. Haters gonna hate.
I have tried almost every type of model, with the exception of hot rods and those "Pirates of the Caribbean" action kits. I thought the pirate kits were neat but just never got around to buying one.
