Great stuff all 'round guys but Bruce, you hit the jackpot!!!

Love me some big honkin' battleships and cruisers! I'd buy some if I only had the time to build them- ah retirement can't come soon enough...

PFJN

Hi,

I just picked this kit up off eBay, for a (hopefully) upcoming Egg Plane group build.  I'm kind of amazed by the extensive and detailed set of decals that it comes with Stick out tongue

Egg Plane

PFJN,

Very nice choice on your kit, and you are right about the detail of the decals that come with these kits. I picked up this one about a month or so ago. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the group build you mentioned. Hope you enjoy your build.

Well, here are the latest additions.

I have to say, I've got a thing for battleships!

I got all three off eBay for about what I would have paid retail for the Kongo... Not too bad...

O-boy, now you're talking my language. I assume the Tone is 1/350 as well.

I don't believe I've ever seen that movie but I've definitely heard of it. Now that I know what it's about I'm going to have to watch it. Good score on that 109 Drifter.

Thank you sir, and I will be watching out for your build on that Ford Van.

Found the movie on YouTube. It was incorrectly listed on YT as Zorro and it was filmed in 1957 not in the 60s like a thought but was working from memory. This is a great forgotten film.

Thats the aircraft of Franz von Werra, the only German POW to escape and return home.

Absolutely correct sir. The movie mentioned by PlasticJunkie was titled "The One That Got Away". I read the book (same title) on this man and I believe he was shot down during the Battle of Britain and crash landed on British soil. It's been a few decades since I read it so my memory is not what it used to be LOL.

As I recall he had quite an ordeal making it all the way to South America   on his way back to Germany. A movie  was made back in the 60s about his escape. Very ironic that he resumed combat flying but his engine died as a result he went down and his body never found.

You better check the content's of that box. The kit may be damaged.

If the box art is to be believed, that plane is "Slightly used" .......

Wow, that is TERRIBLE box art!  What was Airfix thinking?  I am surprised I had not read any Internet furor yet on the subject. There was some complaining of a GWH Sukhoi box art showing an F-15 going down in flames, but the subject of the kit was intact.

Its ok, thats one of the bad guys going down. Thats allowed.

Is it battle damaged?  That would be cool.  I remember battle damaged kits when I was a kid.

Thanks,

I received a few more,

This one I picked up at our Hobby Town the other day. Now it's off the wishlist.

Also I went to Mopar Madness' home last night for dinner and he gave me these from his stash. THANK YOU Chad!

Another one off the wishlist.

I was looking for some decals or masking for my Academy 1/72 F-35 and finally found that Wolfpack decals made them for the 1/72 Academy and the 1/48 Kitty Hawk offerings. I ordered the 1/72 set on Sunday and they arrived on Thursday.

I really didn't want to mask all that RAM tape.

I picked up these 2 kits today at a local show, and wanted to test out the photo image site I picked to post photos.

There is also some AM barrels already out for this beast...
