I do have another kit coming, but I'm dubious if I'll ever see actually see it.  Got it from a guy on eBay (who I note is no longer active on eBay).  The kit is Tamiya's big 1/32 F-15E, and the price was very likely too good to be true.  It has been in "tracking number provided" since the end of June with an expected delivery date by the beginning of September.  I do hope that it is actually delivered, but if not, I'll probably have to just write that off given that the seller is no longer affiliated with eBay (although perhaps I can get compensation from PayPal?)

I sold "as a store" on Ebay for many years. File a claim on that person NOW. He's off Ebay for a reason, and they probably removed him. File the claim and get your money back. IF the kit shows up, which it won't, you're double good. But it won't, trust me. Once they see he's not there, they will pay your claim straight away.

Yeah, I had that experance a couple years back. I found a 1/700 Prince of Wales with a price much lower than anyone else so I bought it. The seller was still active but the order status never changed. Sometimes the status never changes and your item still arrives, so I waited. About two months later I remembered that I had ordered it and I went into eBay to check on it and the seller was no longer a seller. I filed a claim and they checked on it and I received a refund toot sweet. Too bad I never received the kit but I had a full refund with no issues at all.

I like your new acquisitions. I built that AT-ST a year ago and the fit is excelent! I built the AT-AT when it came out and was a fun kit if I remember correctly.

Aggieman: Nice collection there of 109s and walkers. Cool idea on making the legs on the AT-AT workable, I like that!

Good luck on getting the kit you ordered. Guess I'm lucky, not had any issues with Ebay so far.

I've been pretty lucky on eBay over the years. I can count on one hand the rip offs that I've encountered, and I've gotten my money back in almost every case. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Just pay attention to the seller's history before committing, both in number of sales, and reviews.

speaking of eBay, my shopping binge continues…

First I found this ice little item which comes with two of these tractor tugs.

Then I got this Blackhawk kit to fill out my 1/48 collection of family

BWT, I just put in a pre order for Arma Hobby's newest Wildcat. I never really cared about the Wildcat but lately the fat little bugger is actually growing on me. Should be shipped sometime in Oct.

Thanks Steve. Yeah those Hasegawa Blackhawks are probably harder to find now. I think those were the first Blackhawk kits available long ago. I need to find another A kit for my collection, as the A that I built ages ago was gifted to one of my great nephews. He loves all things that fly... gotta encourage the lad.

I hear ya about the Wildcat. I'm not a big fan, but it does start to grow on you.

Stik, That little tug would look good with my Hawkeye. Go ahead and send it on over when it's done. LOL. Let us know how that heli works out. I've got to add a blackhawk to the stash, just don't know which one I should get.

Steve, that F4 is pretty cool. I have the Tamiya one in the stash. I'm looking forward to building it up and then I'll park it and the Buffalo I have next to each other.

LOL! Yeah, that tug will go good with most anything that sits on a flight deck...

As far as choosing a Blackhawk goes, that's a tough one. Army, Air Force, Navy, or Coast Guard. Plus all the different civil agencies. I suppose it all depends on your favorite scheme or background story...

I've got that Wildcat on my wish list as well. lately i have been taking more interest in WW2 British aircraft, especially FAA for some reason. The Airfix martlet is hard to find so that Arma Hobby kit should make a nice substitue.

I totally agree with BK. I had the same thing happen a few years ago. I filed and was refunded

Just got my first roll of EZ-line, got a glouster gladitator I can't wait to try it on.

Picked these two up at wal-mart,  my 5th born son just asked if I wanted the first one and got it for me!  the second I picked up the last time I was in wal-mart.

Ye, it should make a nice one.

Nice 51 Johnny. I've been looking at that one whenever I go to HL.

Nice Star Trek John. I love the "modern" look of the new ships.

Thank you to Brandon, Gamera, Stik, and Modelcrazy for your comments on this situation.  I got notification this morning that my payment has been fully refunded.  $49.75 is what I paid in full for that 1/32 Tamiya F-15E.  Yes, that should have been a massive red flag given that the kit retails for nearly 3 times that amount.  Guess I proved ole PT Barnum's "sucker born every day" quote to be true.

Now to find a more realistic price on this kit, because I do want to build it.

Best of luck finding the Strike Eagle for a decent price Aggie! That will be one impressive build, I'm sure.

More goodies arrived in the mail yesterday…

First up, some PE sets: T-33, F-4J, & generic US aircraft mirrors; and a resin ALQ-101 ECM pod

then a couple of 1/48 early jets

the Monogram 1/48 F-80, to replace the one damaged beyond repair by my daughter’s cat a few years ago

and ESCI’s old 1/48 FJ-2/3 kit. Yes I know it has inaccuracies, but I really don’t care about them. It’s looks to be a kit that I’ll enjoy

That’s all for today…

Stik. There's something to be said of older kits. The Fury looks cool. I built the F-80 last year. Its a very build able kit with modelling required

You know I'd totally forgotten about this thread until ModelCrazy reminded me of it this week! Some cool finds here. And I ran into the same situation aggieman did a few years back over and F-5E from Kittyhawk. Fortunately got my money refunded as well.

Day 1 vendor room - got in right away looking for some specific models of course at a good deal. Found 1 of them, Trumpeters A-10A In 1/32nd scale! Guy was selling his stash and was taking cash only. $80 and it had 4 extra sets of decals in it.

won a half dozen small things in the general raffle, 2 models and 4 sets of vallejo paints. The Mega raffle they had was $5 a ticket. I won on 2 of my 5 and they were super worth it.

the 1st one had me using the UPS shipping they had onsite!

Sorry Joe lol

She's going to mirror her successor, The Big E, in my case next year maybe lol

Then I picked the 2nd one based on a seminar I took while here on how to apply carbon fiber graphics. I've ogled the scale Motorsport decals at shows for a couple years now. I couldn't decide what i wanted more on the raffle table till it hit me, hey this one would be perfect to try out a new skill!

sorry Steve lol

The Grex airbrush class was great. Tamiya and Airfix supported them so they gave away a pair of models there. Picked up an Andy's Hobby HQ shirt and that got us a free model if we showed up at his booth on Friday in it. This looks pretty cool

Maybe Armornut will jump on here and show us the 1/16 Stug he preordered!

So that was the show! Lots of fun and a full suitcase coming home. Looking forward to seeing some updates from the rest of the gang Blind Fold

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Well didn't get any pix however it is all over the internet. Yeup I pulled the trigger on the Das Werk 1/16 Panzer 3 Ausf G. Biggest tank I hope to build....I will build it. It is a beautiful kit with just enough interior to look really good. My norm is 35th so like going to the Nats " stepping outta the comfort zone". Also scored a few books on weathering techniques, one was a gift from the FSM MobBig Smile, and how to diorama. Snatched a 1/32 HK Mobious Do 335 Phiffel Trainer, and my lust of the show , a 1/16 Fujimi/ Testors Lamborghini LP500S to which I may make an Idaho or Washington State Patrol car.

TJ, I agree wholeheartedly about older kits. Many of the new ones turn me off with their over engineering, high parts count, or extra high costs.
As far as the F-80 goes, I've built a couple of them previously, so I won't be having any surprises on this go.

Mongoose, picked up the same Kawasaki Ninja kit, only done a tiny 1/35th US Army bike so this should be interesting. Still in the shipping box, intend to open it on my birthday in two weeks.

Here are my IPMS Nats model-related purchases:

Two of the smaller kits are for friends, so actually I only bought one kit and one accessory for myself.  Still, I'm content with my purchases.  And yes, me and my friends like weird subjects!

Believe it or not, I do have a "normal" streak in me, much like the vestigal limbs left in animals that returned to the sea.  The resin props are for a ERTL F7F Tigercat that I have had for many years.

So, I ordered an ALASKA through Amazon, which means it's coming from China. I got a confirmation for shipping through Yanwen  .  .  . Updates are not particularly accurate or forthcoming. I figured that it hadn't left China yet or at best was stuck in transit or customs. Then today, Fed Ex shows up with a box with a USPS tracking number  .  .  .

In hand, one Hobby Boss USS ALASKA  .  .  .   Yea!!!!

Well, that will probably be a bit of a wait as I've also ordered a 1/700 kit which will be the "test Dummy". I figured to abuse the little one so I don't overly screw up the big one.

But, I'll post the progress on that one too.

OK here are my Nats purchases. The vendors loved me I think.

Books first

Decals

IPMS decals

787 decals

Photo etch and after market

Finally kits

CR-42 I've wanted for a while.

A guy was selling vintage kits for very little. Got this for $5

Something I remembered I wanted

And of course I can't get out of a vendor room without a ship

I wanted to do a 51A in Burma so I picked this up

Then I saw this and it blew my mind. I bought this back in 83ish when it was a new production thinking it would go up in value. The only value that went up was inflation so I sold it 30 years later. I saw this and almost had a coronary. The likelihood that it was the kit I sold around ten years ago is very high. Mine had that first production run sticker with one edge slightly pealed and the box top and bottom was crushed in due to stacking. I bought it for $15, probably what I bought it for in 83. It's got to be mine. What are the odds?

Then I found a 1/32 Zeke which has been on my wish list for several years. Now it's not!

Finally, I've been wanting a 1/72 Seahawk....I saw this and didn't want a 1/72 anymore
