Shacknasty Jim

I am trying out different manufacturers to get a feel for what each offers. Only done maybe 6-7 kits thus far. Everyone seems to be pretty high on Tamiya kits, but thus far I am really liking Hasegawa and these new tooled Airfix kits are really nice (really nice in the sense I have no idea what I am talking about, but I have really like the two I have done).

Tamiya kits do generally have a good reputation. I have just built my first of their aircraft and it was very nice. But most companies can be hit and miss. I used to be devoted to Hasegawa, but now they seem very over priced when companies like Revell are bringing out kits with as much or more detail at a fraction of the price. I do like some of the kiuts coming out of Eastern Europe. They take a bit of extra work, but they have interesting subjects and from what i have done so far, very nice kits.

CN: Looks like a monster! Yes

Jim: Nice haul. It probably will last you though the year but still kits are like potato chips- you can't just buy one - or nine. If you're anything like me you'll add a few more (or many more) over the coming year to those.

I splurged a little. I like to think this will last me through the year... but I seriously doubt it.

Just got myself this one using the gift card Mrs. C gave me for Christmas. Normaly I avoid biplanes due to my lack of skills and tools to make the rigging but they are quite straightforward on this one.

This is also my first floating plane in, ahhhhh 35 years or so Smile

Wow, great stuff guys!!!

Love that 1/144th Discovery Real G! Want one but I really really need to at least start on one of my 1/350th ST Enterprise kits before I buy anymore SF kits....

BTW: Tojo you can edit the title to change the year to 2018 if you want.

Don't remember migs being in that movie,  now I'll have to watch it again.

I just watched it the other day. They show models for closeups and F-4's for live shots.

Got these 2 over the weekend.  Got the mig because of the one that was in the aircraft section that was done so well, can't remember who it was at the moment that did it.

And the Ju-88 because the reviews said it was a great kit,  and by looking at the sprues I tend to agree.

Yes,  I was comparing the two in the store aswell.  I also had a $10 birthday coupon from the LHS so that's why I got 2 kits,  made it much easier to add to the stash!

I've got that 88 John and have compared it in the box to the Hasegawa kits and there is little between them. Looks amazing and a fraction of the price of the offering from Japan.

So, yet again I had to go to Tuscon for the wife to do her "shopping"

Yet again I "faked" a breakdown ( I think she suspect's something, but I'm not sure )

But, I managed to get this stuff.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Dear RX 7850...

Please stop buying ENTIRE STORE'S !

You do not have to impress us, but it would be nice if there were at least 1 or 2 kit's left in the store when we get there!

                                                    L  O  L  !

Seriously tho, nice haul.    I'm Jelous.

Once again, my wife made me drive all the way to Tuscan. And once again, the truck "malfunctioned" only a few feet away from the hobby store.  So I got this to fix it.

Now my truck run's .... "Just fine" !

Great additions to the stash everyone. Wow! Modelcrazy $12.50 is a great deal. Rumor is Hobby Lobby might be building a store in my area, can't wait.

I've been keeping the postal carriers busy since December and this will continue as I wait for two big orders from DragonUSA to arrive at my doorstep. They had some good sales recently.

I have a soft spot for Trumpeter's 8 ton tractors , detailed with tons of intricate parts. A bonus came with the Stug III , inside were two complete kits an F and G model.

ICM make a great little 37mm. Pak especially when on clearance..

a great bonus arrived inside the Revell Panther G , inside was another Panther G kit some  a/m resin wood storage cases and a CMK

resin Bergpanther conversion kit.

I'v got some diorama plans so I stocked up on a few items. The Verlinden demolished building got the imagination going.

Got a great deal on these Mirage kits. Some of are getting hard to find and down right expensive

nothing but love for Dragon.

Some A/M bits.

That's a totaly cool kit G!!

I went to HL today just to see if they had the Revellogram B-24. While there wasn't a B-24 there was the C-54D Skymaster which I've seen there plenty of times, but there was something different about it this time.

Whaaaa????

I couldn't pass that up!

Now thats a kit and a half. At least the storage space doesn't need to be wide.

I just saw that in the latest issue of the mag, tey will be doign a review on it. Hefty price tag as well.

So giddy that I finally have a styrene Discovery from "2001".  And as a poster over at Starship Modeller said, "My God, it's full of parts...."

Buuuuuuuut no interior parts for the cockpit and pod bay.  Aftermarket makers are already doing PE and resin interiors, and a masking set is already on sale.

If you hate indy tracks on armor models, avoid this kit.  The "spine" has 11 segments with 66 cargo modules which have about 380 or so parts.  Oh, and you will need a bigger work bench.  (That's my dining room table - my work space is too small to accommodate 41 inches of model.)

OK let's see what you think of this one which showed up today.

It's got the Pz IV, Sdkfz 7, the 88 and figures as well as Romel all in 1/72.

Good looking kits Bish and Joe. I never built that Panther before but have always picked it up and looked it over for years.

I've heard Rye Field makes the best Tiger and would really love to get one. The Bregpanzer looks like a sweet variation.

Ye, thats what i have heard. So £70 for the Dragon kit or £40 for the Rye Fields. No brainer. It looks nice in the box. I had the CMK kit for years and never got close to building it, now i have no excuses not to.
