Great stuff Ben!  4 for 4 on subjects I want.  Rather have 1/48 on the planes but right on the subjects!

Thanks,

John

A couple more came in over the weekend:

The Kingfisher is a third copy of this kit, second of this actual boxing.  The previous two are currently on my bench.  For some reason, I decided that since I'd never done a land-based version and already had these first two going as sea-based OS2U's, well, eBay is always there.  The P-47 needed to come to me since my 1/32 ancient Revell Thunderbolt build did not turn out satisfactorily.

Aggieman, that Kingfisher box art sure brings back some good memries.  I still think that the box art from the 1960s were some of the best ever.  Looking forward seeing your build of this aircraft.

Excellent stash additions!  It's so kind of you to give these " Model Strays" a home!  An elderly modeling friend gave me the "Bengal Lancer" kit so I'm anxioius to see you build that kit some day.

i didn’t either.  I received a post from SB that they had some in, so I ordered one right then. The next day they were out of stock.

SurfsUp: Awesome! Love those Airfix figures!

Knox: Niiicccccccceeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! I think you're going to love it. I'm building the P-38G kit and it's fantastic. Amazing fit and detail. The only issue I have is that you have to attach some of the landing gear parts before sealing up the booms and I ended up breaking them while masking the underside. There's probably some way to attach them later- I want the same kit you bought- and I'm going to look into doing that way on it.

I really want this kit, but I don't like the price. Great score, looking forward to seeing it.

Gamera,  thanks for the heads-up.  I’m looking forward to the build.

BK,  it is pricey, but i’m used to buying games-workshop products, so it doesn’t feel as bad as it should. ☺️

Joe Rix,  check out the decal of Marge’s picture.  I know most modelers consider Tamiya decals sub par, but they may have just raised the bar on nose art decal renditions.

No doubt! That is one of the first things I checked out when I opened the box. Absolutely stunning decal. Leave it to Tamiya to continually raise the bar on quality modeling.

Guys, don't keep us in suspense - show us some pics of Marge's decal!  I recall the real thing looked like a photo.

And since I'm niele, any ideas how Tamiya did it?  Is it a separate decal?  Is it offset litho printed?  Or is it some new unheard of Tamiya black magic printing process?

Happy to accomodate ya. Not savy with exactly how they pulled off such voodoo. Although the close up reveals some interesting features.

Sitting here chatting up the new Tamiya P-38J made me realize how long it had been since I had posted on her..at all!! I have certainly been distracted by life events but, man, it's been well over a month. I regret that I have not acknowledged all the mind blowing additions everyone has added. Took me a while to go back and take it all in. Wonderful, wonderful stuff everyone.

And, yes, I have picked up some real gems since my last update.

Starting with a couple new releases that I have been waiting patiently for. Of course the new P-38J:

But, this is one that arrived finally a couple of weeks ago. Been dying to get this and it looks amazing:

Recently I got to travel over to Grand Junction, Co. to drop off and pick up my wife at the airport and, as such, I took the opportunity to pay a long over due visit to the LHS. Good to see friendly faces after a long hiatus. Picked these up while I was there.

Forgot that I had ordered these from overseas back in Feb. Finally arrived a few weeks ago. Handy little sanding sticks.

And now a few kits I snagged via ebay or FB auctions:

Good to be all caught up. I hope evryone is well and I look forward to see what keeps rollinging in.

Cheers all, Joe

Joe,

Marge's decal looks like it's offset litho printed.  The only other way I have seen are the ones that are made using an Alps or similar printer.  No matter, the kit should be 100% quality.

Some new acquisitions for my flyers. First up I picked up these PE rigging sets for my recent Yellow Wings kits- a set for the P-26, and a generic set that will work on the P-6E

Then I picked up this kit, that I had been wanting for some time, but waited too long to get when they were in the shops

With some of the extra parts on this D, and some resin seats in my spares bin, I can now backdate the older D that I have in my stash into a TARPS B variant. Now I need to score some B decals.

Nice F-14 there!

I got an F-5F Agressor from a local antique shop at 50% off!

Excellent choices Aggie. Should make for some wonderful building fun.

Stik: Like the venerable Tomcat. Those rigging wires should be a nice addition.

John: The F-5F sure is nice find at a sweet $$

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.
