I'd love to see what you do with that Legionary Bish.

I like Oden an the Vixen as well.

Happy birthday mate!

Had 3 new additions for my birthday today. The Mrs got me busts for the first time in 3 years, and for a chance from Young Miniatures one, she got me 2 from Nuts Planet. She knows i am into anything Roman and this is the second one she has got me.

And after watching The Last Kingdom and The Vikings, she is into Vikings stuff so got me Odin.

And i gave out a short list of kits i was after. As well as taking an interest in FAA aircraft, i have also been looking at British post war twin boomers. This is my foirst and it ticks both boxers.

Gamera, you're gonna like that Nate kit. It's a little beauty! The Cold War Army Uniforms reminds me of the old C.B. Colby books in the school libraries when I was a kid... man I wore those books out.

Last week picked up this at our club auction. Eleven bucks- how could I pass?

And ordered this and got it last week too. Kept looking on the interwebz and never found much good reference photos. Hopefully this will give me all the Cold War information I need.

First is a 1/16 classic kit of Mario Andretti's Brabham Indy racer. The believe the kit was released in the early 70's by Bandai and later by other manufacturers. I already have the Red Ball Lola and wanted this one to book end the other. Finally, after 50 years of hunting and waiting... I got it. Now all I have to do is scratchbuild 80% of the cockpit, engine and suspension for an accurate model.

Image

Everything else is additional detail items for existing kits. The first was to finish off the 1/18 SAS Jeep model. Below are 50cal expended casings, a Thompson .45 machine gun, and some decals and PE for final detailing.

Image

Image

Next are some items for my recently purchased 1/32 Tornado. Two of the additions are parts A and B for metal landing gear (recommended by stikpusher). The other two items are decals for the stencils and for the British 31 Squadron (last) Tornado unit.

And here are some detail items I ordered for my 1/32 Tamiya F-14. First are the Quinta 3D cockpit decals which will replace the flat panel decals from the kit. The other item is a full decal set for the Black Aces.

Image

Image

Next are detail items for by current build of the 1/350 Tamiya IJN Yamato Battleship. I found some turned metal drawer knobs to use as stands for the hull at my local hardware store for only $5.00 each. Then I ordered a set of 127mm IJN Type -89 guns to replace the poorly molded kit guns.

I think that brings me up to date on items received.

Yeah, I know that it's a poor excuse but I haven't been able to show any of my pictures because from what I gathered, you need a separate service to download photos and I haven't done that process, especially with Kalmbach hanging in the wind the way some of you say.    Our local model club has a site that posts our members' work and I could direct you to that site to see some of my work to prove that I actually do build things.  The M-51 is painted and now I'm doing the detail painting.  This is the first time that I mounted all of the little pieces first (shovels, jacks, tools, etc)and gone back to detail paint them.  We'll see how that goes.

Just finishing Tamiy'a M-51 myself and it goes together like a dream!  Looking for some after-market stores to load up the back.  Andy's Hobbies has a great tutorial build on his youtube site for this tank.  I have the Dragon and Academy versions to build next.  I've been on an IDF kick this year.  The Spitfire, I can relate to your emotions about those early Matchbox kits.  At one time I had quite a few of them in the stash but unfortunately I sold most of them a few years ago, something I regret to this day.  Good luck on your upcoming projects!

Nice scores Joe! I'm really liking the old Matchbox Spitfire. I have a big time soft spot for those 1/32 Matchbox kits. Reminders of misspent hours when you really didn't have many cares once upon a time...

Well, this past Saturday was Modelzona, IPMS Phoenix’s annual show and contest. Needless to say, I went. The vendor rooms were well supported by local and regional retailers and private sellers. There was a fine selection of kits to be found, a d I found these two. Combined prices for both were still less  that what either one fetches at most online shops

I’ve been wanting both of those for my collection since they were each released.

Value Gear was also present with his full line of products, as was a different vendor with lots of tools! My angle nose tweezers were in desperate need of replacement, so….

All in all, a fun day at the show!

Boy Howdy! There have been some terrific additions to everyone's stash since I last checked in. Really impressive.

Neal, I am especially taken by your Ekranoplan kit you scored. That is way too cool. May have to look into one myself.

Bish, Glad to see you acquire the Zvezda C-130. I understand them to be very nice kits. Well done on all the rest of your recent additions.

TJ, Magnificant haul. Love the Superbird.

Stik, Can't beat that deal on your Tempest. Wish I'd caught that one.

Well done to all.

Meanwhile, I've added some recent additions lately:

Found this at a reasonable price on ebay. Another desired kit added.

Opted to get a batch of these to use instead of PE harnesses. They are really nice to use.

And finally I picked this up at auction. I actually already have this kit that I started when I was in High School. Had finished most the cockpit and engine. Although my effort at the time was quite sub-standard. When I saw this available I figure "What the heck!" and got it for the parts in order to finish it with my much better skills.

Cheers All!

You got the AFV club indy link tracks i take it. I am not a huge fan of plastic indy tracks but i used that set and they were not to bad, though i have got metal ones for the Scorpion. If you do decide to get anything else, i can deffinetly recomend the turret, the kit one is rather off, and the hull rear stowage bin has much nice detail than the kit oetion.

Thanks, Bish - I remembered you'd mentioned them before, so that's where I got the tracks from - at a very good price, too!  I haven't decided what I'm doing with the Scorpion yet, but they'll certainly get my business if I want anything else for it.

I've been away from these pages (and my workbench) for a few weeks, dealing with some other stuff.  Nothing serious, just things that needed doing.  So I've just had a quick catch-up, and there are some very nice addditions here.  Is everyone stocking up for the winterBig Smile?  I have to say I like the look of that P-43, Aggieman, and Bish's new Jackal takes my fancy, too.

I've been trying to hold off buying kits - I had hoped to go to the IPMS show at Telford (and no doubt come home laden with loot!), but I can't justify the cost.  Maybe next year.  Anyway, I did sort of Just Have A Look, Not Interested In Buying Anything, Honest, at e-bay, and snagged this for a song -

I've also got replacement tracks, as the rubber bands that came with it look like the worst I've seen in decades.  The replacements look like a lot of work, but I'd be letting the model down if I used the kit tracks.  The money I saved on the kit more than covered the cost of the new tracks.

I've also made myself a couple of storage racks from CD/DVD spindle lids and some threaded steel bar -

They take up very little space, and cost next to nothing.  I can see a few more being made for my woodworking workshop.

Stay safe, everyone, and keep posting.

If you fancy some resin AM for that Scorpion, i would recomend these guys.

I used their stuff on the Scimitar and have some Scorpion sets as well.

Nice find.  Don't know if that kit has the wing clip done yet or not

No, it's a straight standard P-51D kit, not modified in any ways.

Nice score Bish!

This came in the mail the other day. It’s the old original Revell late 70’s vintage kit. Came out the same time as their Me-109G10, P-40E, and Spitfire II. I won’t be building it in the kit racer markings, but instead in one of the many 8th Air Force fighter group markings that I have…

G'day Aggieman. I just purchased a magazine with a build article on the Dora Wings Lancer kit. Do you want me to scan it and send it to you? If so, PM me with an email address.

Yea, a guy on youtube also said that his local Walmart store was carrying some AMT/MPC kits.  I checked my local store and they didn't have any kits for sale.  Must be some type of regional thing.

TJS

At my Wal-mart, the kits were in a small, stand-alone aisle display. They were not in the traditional aisle with the toys, etc...but were near the toys and bicycle areas. I believe it may be a seasonal thing with the holidays approaching.

I thought the Valiant was going to be the last kit i got myself this year. But went into the LHS on the way home to get some masking tape, the last thing i expected to see was the new Zvezda C-130, they don't usually have kits in so soon after release. But there it was. I didn't get the first kit hopeing for the new 130J-30 version so when they announced it, it was added to the wish list. After about 5 mins thinking about it, it found itself coming home with me.

I am so glad i resisted getting the Italeri kit several years back along with the very pricey conversion sets.
