A few more additions to the stash.
I recently did a couple of old Hobby Craft kits that, while not Tamiya quality, went together easily, were of decent detail and look great on the shelf. Kitlinx had a sale of someone's acquired stash, and I picked out these two - a P-40B (like I really needed another one of those) and a birdcage Corsair.
I returned to this hobby after a high school + college + first few years of professional life break in 1995. That Hobby Craft P-40 boxart was appealing, and I very nearly picked up that kit (newish at the time) but for some reason never did. Was happy to see it included in this sale, and was quite surprised when I opened both of these Hobby Craft kits in that the P-40 included decal sets for each AVG squadron, and the Corsair included a set of resin tires.
I am currently building a Dora Wings kit, the P-43A Lancer. I had long had my eyes on their P-63 King Cobra, and more recently discovered this French aircraft of which I know absolutely nothing.
And finally, I have been a fan of Star Wars since I first saw the first movie in June 1977. I saw each of the movies starting with Return of the Jedi on opening night, and I built all of the original release of MPC kits in the summer of '78. I recently did a Revell Republic Star Destroyer, outfitting it with lights and was fairly impressed with the result, but it was a major undertaking that I'm thinking I'd like to avoid. There was a larger scale kit that Zvezda/Revell has, but I've built a few Bandai kits and have found them to be just about perfect. This one came with a lighting kit, although the instructions are a dizzying array of "Holy Moly, how am I going to deal with all of this?!!!!"
