I might be interested in the F-80C.  Depends on how much they update it.

The one kit i might be tempted by is the Meteor F.8. I've been thinking about getting a post war version, so this might be it.

I feel the same way.  The 1/48 Anson is tempting though.

Mopar Madness

Based on what I saw, no Vulcan re-pop this year.

No, there isn't. From what i have heard, the initial release was tooled with the Black buck in mind. Blind holes that if drilled out would hold Shrike launchers. Maybe they will leave it a couple of years as they did with the Victor and Valiant. But i am surprised in the 40th year they didn't do it now. I'll wait, i only want a BB Vulcan. Nothing for me in this years releases, means i'll have to look for somthing else to spend my money on.

Bish,

I know Airfix did their 2022 release schedule today.  So no Black Buck Vulcan?  I am surprised.  The Bucanneer is great news for me though.  But at 72 Pounds, it will cost the same as the Vulcan!  I'll wait for the RAF boxing with the bulged bomb bay door and wraparound camo.

I am torn deciding on how to build my Vulcan.  Logic clearly dictates that it is expsensive and large, so only one should be had.  But my emotional side wants a Blue Steel version (NOT Ben Stiller from "Zoolander") and a Black Buck version.  Decisions, decisions...

Nice one G. I must admit i am dissapointed and surprised that Airfix have not re-boxed this for a Black Buck Vulcan, especially in this year. They have missed a trick there.

OMG I finally have one:

I have been waiting for a long time to get a modern kit of the "tin triangle".  I did pick up the old kit a number of years ago, and have seen some terrific builds of it.  But after looking at the thick trailing edges, laughable exhausts, and soft detail, I wanted something better.  And even longer ago, I attempted to build the Nova vac-form kit.  I had ZERO vac-form experience, and was only in middle school, but I was able to get the airframe together.  Looking back, it was a pretty good kit, but my lack of skills doomed the project.

So at long last, Airfix has finally completed the triad of V-Bombers!  Hurrah!

I was able to see two operational Vulcans up close back in the 1970-1980 era, at Hickan AFB during two open houses.  Interestingly, both were parked away from the other display aircraft, and they did not attract much attention from the other visitors.  I wonder what the AF personnel thought about a 14 year old kid wandering around all by himself, looking like he found a Vulcan made of solid chocolate!  I only had a Kodak Instamatic camera both times, and so got off only a few pictures.  I'll need to dig them up, as I remember taking pics of the second Vulcan's serial number and fin markings.  I so wish I could travel back in time with my iPhone!

Yeah wow Chad!!! You building an extension to your house to hold that monster!?!?!

And very cool SP. Although it just looks weird to me. I'm so used to the Ferdinand/Elefant TD it looks strange with a turret on top of it.

Looks great guys.

Cahd, I built the 1/144 of the Leapold (close to N scale). That thing should be a biggie.

Stick, I didn't know a Prosche turret Tiger made it into battle. I like the Henschel turret better anyway. Nice addition to your armor collection.

A 1/35 railway gun?! You are a madman Chad! Wink

So… I kept true to not purchasing anymore new kits until after New Years… well, I ordered this one before New Years due to a limited time 20% off deal… but then I did not pay until Jan 2nd, so that counts. This arrived in the mail on Friday. Anyways this is Italeri’s old 90’s vintage 1/35 Porsche Tiger kit, Dr. Porsche’s competition against the Henschel design.

When I get around to building this one, I will modify it into the sole example that saw combat as a command tank on the eastern front in 1944.

Man Joe, I had no idea AMT ever made that style of Thunderbird! That Boxart is actually kind of cool.

Yep Gamera, the elf on the magazine cover is Deedlit.  Max Factory makes the kit (it's injection molded and 1/20 scale). I bought the mag because it featured character and mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, who gave us the mechs from Patlabor and Gundam 0080.

Oh those are cool Real G! Love the bench, the Nausicaa figure, and the Harpy fighter.

Is that magazine in the foreground showing a figure of the elf gal from the 'Record of the Lodoss War'? My DM in the first D&D game I played decades ago was obsessed with that anime series. Had't thought about it in years...

Chris,

Yeah, I love the Lancia's wedge shape too!  I also have the 1977 Monaco rally car in the stash.  I figured I'd do a simpler version first.  Plus it comes with a pretty lady.

I will most likely do the park bench first, just for giggles. Big Smile

The Lancia is a sweet subject! Remember that car as a kid. It was one of my uncle Dennis' favorites. That's a reall eclectic mix you got there! What will you build 1st?

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

A box arrived on 12/23, just before our office closed for Christmas.

Some model mags, two cars, an F-104 "Maru-Yon", a space pirate fighter, some 1/144 US Navy carrier deck crew, and... a park bench with trash receptacle and skateboard!

And this is my one Christmas model kit from a friend.

Thanks Pat. I really want to add this to my RN collection.I have seen images of all 6 rear dors open when the launcher is being loaded, but not all the forward doors. A VLS set up would be interesting, maybe a side cutaway.

Bish,

Hi.  Sorry for the poorlighting, but here is a picture of the instructions, decals, a little bit of PE, and the parts for both launchers.

Sea Dart

Sea Wolf

For reference the white Board I photographed the parts on is 508mm x 762mm (20" x30") so both launchers look like they will be decent sized models. Additionally they give you parts for 6 Sea Wolf missiles, to go in the Sextuple launcher, but I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the actual luancher with all doors open.  (Maybe I can try and use some of the missiles as a basis for a scratchbuilt Light Weight launcher or a VLS tube Stick out tongue)

Anyway, it looks to be a very nice double kit.

Happy New Year

Pat
