Murph, those are some mighty fine RCAF builds! The CF-100 is rarely seen built up. I always like seeing the less frequent types making an appearance.

Monogram (Aurora) 1/48 Sopwith Camel

 

Love the Camel. My grandfather in law was flying them in WW1

It's been a slow year on the bench.

First was the 72nd Hobbycraft Canada CF-100 Mk 5.  Alclad II Aluminum and ModelMaster Enamels.  CanMilAir decals that I got before Bill had to close the decal side of his business.  Stand from Airfix.

Next was the 32nd scale Revell of Germany Spitfire IXc.  ModelMaster Enamels and Alclad II lacquers.  Kit decals.  This went together really nicely.

This is the venerable 48th scale Revell / Monogram Voodoo.  AlcladII Aluminum with ModelMaster Enamels.  Decals are mostly Leading Edge Models except for the 409 'Nighthawk' Sqn emblem.  It's from the Belcher Bits set.  I was asked to do this as a commission build.  The jet was lost off the Strait of Georgia near CFB Comox in British Columbia on 05 July 1976.  Neither the aircraft nor the body of the pilot was ever recovered.  The widow of the pilot asked me to build this for her son who was quite young when his father was killed.  I presented it to them in early June.

When I presented it to Mrs. Cox, she asked me if I could repair a model Voodoo that her daughter owned.  She showed me the model.  It was in a pretty sad state but most parts were there.  Long story short, I deconstructed it and refinished it the same way I built the one above.  A friend 3D printed a few parts for me and while the end result isn't perfect, it's better than what I started with and I'll be presenting it to the family tomorrow, 24 October.

Joe, I learned about WWI laminated wooden props from a guy in the IPMS chapter I used to be part of, Joe LeMusio. He is a master of biplanes and traditionally does very well with those at the Nationals. My work is nowhere near as good as his. But he is a great example to emulate. The Leo was a fun speed build done in three separate four hour sessions with my old AMPS Chapter in Zoom sessions. 

Yes the Camel is sweet. I particularly like the detail on the prop - never would have thought of doing that.

But the Leopard is my favorite, great looking armor.

All three look awesome John. No particular favorites. 

Really like the Hawker Sea Fury.  Those Hobbycraft kits are really basic, especially on the inside but you did an outstanding job with it.  The Land Rover's color and weathering look so realistic.

Thanks, being a former AFV driver does help. And i have been to the falklands 3 times so have a good idea of the terrain.

Very, very impressive.  Phil Toy would come by our IPMS San Diego meetings way back - he scratch built ships as well.  

When you throw modern computer design software & 3D printers into the mix - It's kind'a cheating, it uses a different skill-set to get the same result.

Though the finish work, painting and weathering is pretty much the same.
