Hey Viking!

Wisconsin you say? Perchance you might be near Eau Claire or thereabouts? I have a friend who lives there.

hi guys,

Sigman, sorry to be a bit late in adding my name to your list. This is Andrew Oliveros, from BiƱan, also from the darkside (like Dwight). I do figures and dios, too. Did a few planes a few nightmares ago, best I did was a Tamiya 1:48 F4U which I gave away. I got a lot on standby, though. But right now treads are the trend for me. Just finished putting together a M51 Isherman which I'm simmering before I paint. Wish I could show a few pix, but I don't have a good enuf camera...

Hi Andrew. That M-51 is really a cool and nice kit. Not so expensive, too. I had a really good time doing mine. Hope to see some pics of yours, too.

Uhm, hi. Blush [:I]

I'm Herschel, aka Hershey (easier to remember & spell) from Manila. I hardly know anything 'bout modelling Shy [8)] but starting a week ago, I have been haunting the Net, looking for info and resource materials & people.

Actually, I just got my very first model and I would greatly appreciate any help you guyz could offer. Big Smile [:D] Glad I found this site, and even better, I found out you guyz have a modelers' group here in the Phil. Kewl! Smile [:)]

(Err, I notice most modelers here are into WWI & II models. Anyone else into sci-fi?... Uhm, Zoids perhaps?) Shy [8)]

PS: IPMS, do you take newbies under your wing?... Just a thought... Blush [:I]

Hi Reggie!

Thanks! Smile [:)] I have never worked with plastic models before. My background in visual art is only what I have experimented with in charcoal...and that's waaay not like models. I got this Zoid (a Death Stinger) last week and plan to change its star-spanggled-banner-color theme to a more menacing and darker appearance.Big Smile [:D] Of course, I almost-instantly ran headlong into the question "HOW?!" And thus, here I am, searching for answers. Blush [:I]

So, IPMS has two groups? Err... what is BAC? Well, I could really do with a support group esp. at this stage.Shy [8)]

....newbies under ipms wing, of course! i am a newbie myself.... the orgs are here to help us newbies... that's one of their foremost goals, actually. hehehe... i am a member of IPMS-BAC... that's IPMS Philippines Bert Anido Chapter.

BTW, welcome aboard the FSM forum!

you aware of the nationals in october? there are a lot of categories you can join if you are interested. visit http://www.ipmsphilippines.com/nationals/nationals.htm for more information. we still have some time to prepare and join... Wink [;)]

another thing... there is this group called mechapinoy who are into sci fi... you can checkout their webbie at http://www.mechapinoy.com

ei, shonen.... another mech modeller on board! Big Smile [:D]

and yes, there are two IPMS orgs present in the thread... but there are actually more than just two orgs in the metro... Smile [:)] there's IPMS south manila, IPMS fort, and there are others that i can't remember... hehe... check out Manila's webbie, too... that's http://www.geocities.com/ipms_manila

the webbie for IPMS Bert Anido Chapter is http://www.ipmsphilippines.com
feel free to browse through the pages... Big Smile [:D]

Hello Herschel, welcome to the thread and and specially to the hobby! Big Smile [:D]

As what Reggie has said there are currently two active IPMS groups here in this thread. I have heard of a few more like: IPMS International daw, IPMS South Manila, and IPMS Fort but they aren't active online. Since you're into sci-fi and Gundams (I also do Gundams) why not check out the guys from Mechapinoy. They're the specialists when it comes to sci-fi and Gundams. Big Smile [:D]

Anyway, I'm from IPMS Phils. BAC (Bert Anido Chapter), Bert Anido is our late founder. Here's our website naman....http://www.ipmsphilippines.com/ while Mechapinoy's is: http://www.mechapinoy.com/ .

Also check this link: http://cybermodelcomp.com/index.html wherein last month's winning entry was from a fellow Mechapinoy member.... Omsky. Smile [:)]

I see you're into Zoids... I believe the queen of the forumboards is also into Zoids. Right emjaetee? Smile [:)] ehehehe

Welcome to the boards too Andrew and Viking! You seem familiar to the other guys 'round here already.... ehehehe Smile [:)]

Hello Herschel!! Welcome to the forum.

I'm from IPMS-Philippines Bert Anido Chapter. Before I made the transition to military vehicles (armors predominantly) I did some sci-fi kits too, a Zaku and two UN-Spacy thingys which I forgot the name. :o)

Feel at home and don't hesitate to ask for help, there's a lot of newbies here (me included) and we'll be glad to be the 'wind beneath your wings'. :o)

Hey Reg, I just came from the IPMS Philippines conclave last Sunday. The officers went over to say Hi! to the other modelers over there. Art and I brought over some Sci-fi models we built a couple of eons ago to add to the chaos... Big Smile [:D]

It was well attended by the emmbers of the different chapters around the metro. I saw members from the Fairview, Alabang, Fort and of course Manila.

There was a table devoted to cars alone! I was particularly impressed by Jojo Nicolas' Philippine taxi. It even had a Sto Nino inside!

Welcome Herch!
