I'm Herschel, aka Hershey (easier to remember & spell) from Manila. I hardly know anything 'bout modelling Shy [8)] but starting a week ago, I have been haunting the Net, looking for info and resource materials & people.

Actually, I just got my very first model and I would greatly appreciate any help you guyz could offer. Big Smile [:D] Glad I found this site, and even better, I found out you guyz have a modelers' group here in the Phil. Kewl! Smile [:)]

(Err, I notice most modelers here are into WWI & II models. Anyone else into sci-fi?... Uhm, Zoids perhaps?) Shy [8)]

PS: IPMS, do you take newbies under your wing?... Just a thought... Blush [:I]

Herschel, first of all, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forums. Try to roam around to the different categories and you can find that there are a lot of helpfull guys and galls for any of your modeling questions. Oh, BTW, I'm into WW1 and 2 aircraft and armor and limit my sci-fi to star wars models only.

Sigman, sorry to be a bit late in adding my name to your list. This is Andrew Oliveros, from BiƱan, also from the darkside (like Dwight). I do figures and dios, too. Did a few planes a few nightmares ago, best I did was a Tamiya 1:48 F4U which I gave away. I got a lot on standby, though. But right now treads are the trend for me. Just finished putting together a M51 Isherman which I'm simmering before I paint. Wish I could show a few pix, but I don't have a good enuf camera...

Andrew, thanks for adding my name to your list. There are a lot of wonderful people in this thread. Also, try to visit the armor forum. Smile [:)]

hi reggie!

looking at the instruction sheet beside the harrier, the kit is by hasegawa. how's the fit? how's the sit of the landing gears? they say that on the monogram kit, you have to shorten the main landing gear to get a good sit. Sad [:(]

great work reggie! yep, smoothing out the seams is really a pain at times Black Eye [B)] especially on aircraft kits! Dead [xx(] may i suggest that you use scotchbrite (that green thing you use when cleaning out grease from the frying pan) after sanding the seams. Wink [;)] helps a lot in smoothing out the seams.

but from the looks of it, it seems you did good job already! Approve [^]

Wow! Great works reggie... Wink [;)] Is that a Patlabor? Very nice.

Like you said the seams really are a pain but the panel lines and weathering on that harrier as well as your gundam are well done. Thumbs Up [tup]

cbrain,

Thanks.Smile [:)] Yup it's a 1/35 scale Patlabor INGRAM form Bandai.

emjaetee,

Thanks. Big Smile [:D] Saber Lion? is that a Zoid? Post it here pag na tapos mo na ha! I really like seeing other peoples work. When somebody post i always check if they have alink to their website or something. Big Smile [:D] How much ba yung Liger Zero (not sure, white ba yun?) sa Pinas? 'coz they have it on sale here at my local Toys 'R Us for $9.99 only.

shonen red,

Thanks. I primed it first with Tamiya grey primer. then preshaded it with black. Final coat is Gunze Lacquer white.

Bigman,

It's Hasegawa AV-8B harrier 'Desert Harrier' 1/48. The overall fit was very good. the droptanks when glued togetherhad some pretty funky seams though. Disapprove [V] The cockpit had little detail and when i tried placing a 1/48 Hasegawa pilot it did'nt fit. had to do some sanding on the pilot's legs. The landing gears were OK. no problems there. It sat pretty good all the wheels touched ground.

Again...Thank you for the praise and advice.Big Smile [:D]

Hi beth and other femmes! Glad to know there are other females in this forum too. Cool [8D]

Just got into Zoids actually. The first one I built was a Guysack (a desert scorpion). It being relatively small and with sooo many minute detials, I left it as is... no paint whatsoever. Will be working on in tho, not just now.

The Zoid I'm about to work on is a Death Stinger (now a really huge scorpion... sorry, got a fascination with the creatures). Sorry to hear about your PC Ben... I know it's such a drag. Mine's about to die a natural death too... I'm just waiting for her to totally die out on me... Dead [xx(]

It's very refreshing to note that the members of the "fairer sex" are taking an interest in the hobby. Let's face it, there are only a few of them around. Glad to know they're starting to come around also.

By the way, didn't you notice how much this thread has grown? I am really glad the hobby has made such great strides. I hope it continues.

You know cbrain, two years ago I tried to convince my wife to get a hobby... so she wouldn't bother me with mine... hehehe . Anyway, she took up cross stitching instead of modeling but I was glad to have introduced her to craft work. Firstly, she doesn't bother me when I go to the hobby shops - she just conveniently slips away in that little shop a few stores away from Lil's. Secondly, she doesn't bother me when i spend hours preparing for the competitions. The only thing that really still pisses her off was the disappearance of her cross stitch needle (I modify them to make CA glue applicators ehek... Tongue [:P])

But all in all, I'm really glad women are getting into the hobby. I remember there used to be a BAC member named Darling... She was into figures and once she showed up with a figure of a bowing Jap soldier and her work was great! I think she was a student of Mel sa Fine Arts. I wonder whatever happened to her?

Bring her with you everytime you buy a kit. Then on one occasion send her a model (finished with all your best) as a gift. Then on another give her an unbuilt kit as a present. Next time you plan a date don't go 'malling' (dinner, movies, etc.), go to her place or your place to spend time with each other while doing it....... the kit, I mean. After everything, ala pa ren, remember the first rule 'scale modelling is a HOBBY' it's picked voluntarily and never forced to someone. Blush [:I]Wink [;)]
