Late breaking news... I tried the vinegar (I think it was Lorins brand)... didn't work. The decal became a little soggy but the yellowing didn't come off. I think it was already the fixative that they use on the surface of the decal. Sorry... back to the drawing board

Many thanks! We'd be glad to help you out if you decide to make a PAF F-8. We can share photos and pointers. We've even got an F-8 operating manual. Shhh! Secret! Hahaha! Our Decal Team can also provide you with decals for that. Theyve been making PAF decals, complete with squadron badges and numbers, for quite some time now.

If you have time, please drop by this 30th. We'll feature a contest full of PAF and PAAC. The goal is really to promote interest on our own Air Force.

The Airfix Scorpion kit represents a more advanced version of the vehicle. It has to be downgraded to represent an accurate Phil Army example.

Junior is Mang Ernie. Thats how he's better known in IPMS-BAC. You should see his works in the flesh. Ang gaganda! I wouldnt be surprised if he's building an "unbuttoned" F-8. Junior's the type na tahimik lang, but pag dinala yung model niya magugulat ka.

Actually, the best way to learn is through contests. You will see how you fair and see how you can improve. Nakakahiya talaga sa umpisa but when you are used to going home with a lost entry, you kind'a get used to it then just work hard on the next project. Mahirap pa ang IPMS Manila. Our goal is to support the immediate needs of our members which are more on workshops. We buy models to work on them for the workshops instead of using your models. Also, we need display stands for the upcoming activities. It's still on the planning stage.

Our second internal contest Desert Conflict (Plastic Models) which covers the period from "Desert Shield" to "Operation Desert Storm" was selected from at least 5 themes which were suggested by our members during our meeting held on May 16, 2004 . Selection of the themes was voted upon by members, we, officers of the club let the members to select what themes they want thru votes, I have a video clip of said
selection process, I can upload it here if you want to view ,to see how we conduct our
business .

Due to the clamor of members, the Desert Storm upgraded and extend to
Operation Enduring Freedrom (Iraq war) .

You are right about the raised masking. Good effect but not easy to prepare the masking.

BTW let me correct myself. The warthog was built after I got the airbrush so it was painted using an airbrush.

Wow... How did you get the soft edged camo lines? Raised masking somehow? I've never had the patience to try that...

My aircrafts were painted using spray cans. I built them before I got the airbrush. The only plane I painted using an AB is the Concorde but I don't have pics of it posted. The helis were handpainted.

And speaking of new girls... I may have one more female addition to the modeling roster... A friend of mine has expressed interest in building a model when she accompanied me to JMNs yesterday... Dwight: I have heard stories of kids building vastly superior models when compared to "old timers", so it doesn't really matter how long you've been in the hobby, but how much you love it. You know, I'm not too sure I've seen your work yet... Then again, I don't really hang around in the Armor Forum... How about a teaser photo or two in this thread?

rodbn20, Yes, the tamiya thin cement in like very diluted. I only use this to fill the seams or very little gaps on modelling. my 2 cents worth

my sentiments also, last year i bought a sealed DML kit at STC virramal, when i got home and opened it its contents were mixed with another kit and the instruction had hand writings, i tried returning it the next day or exchanging it for new kit, the sales lady said it was impossible since i opened the box and "magagalit daw si boss"?

so, next time when i wanna buy a sealed kit, i always request it to be opened before purchasing and check all its contents myself, if they won't, sorry, but no thanks.

i'm a frequent visitor of STC (now,less of the buying), this attitude thay have towards their consumers has to improve or else its bad business.

wow! so many of you BAC guys, i've seen your F-8P mang ernie directed me to your gallery in armorama and i saw two more in your website, i'm thinking of converting mine into one although i'm not sure if my skills is ready for it. i hope i won't be asking too much for references, mang ernie will send me some walk around pics and advise me not to rely on the color scheme only the details.

BTW, saw your challengers yours and mang ernie nicely done cammo what's it made? and an open engine panel? almost mistaken them for 1/35.
