It will be in Megamall on August 15 to 21, 2005

Hmn... for armor, a lot of armor friends from IPMS Phils. build kits from Academy, Trumpeter, and DML (Dragon). I think they're the affordable ones while Tamiya, and Hasegawa are quite pricey but the fit and quality is better. When it comes to armor the scale norm is 1:35th. Wink [;)]

Lilibeth and Cbrain: Thanks for the comments.

Zeke: I have been doing 1/35 armor for sometime now and I could only suggest (aside from Tamiya), Dragon, Academy and Trumpeter. You get the most value for your money from Dragon among the brands mentioned especially the recent releases. Tamiya's recent releases are of course very good but are usually above the P1000 mark while Dragon and Academy usually sells in the range of P700-900. Trumpeter's latest 1/35 armor like the Sturer Emil, KV-1 and KV-2 are very affordable priced at below P500. I have the Emil and it is fantastic. I suggest you get one if you are interested in these subjects. Tamiya's older kits like the Willy's MB, M3 Stuart...etc also sells at prices below P500 but they are OLD kits of smaller vehicles.

Anyway...if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help in anyway I can. I am no expert but maybe I can give a pointer or two.

Good luck.

Cbrain, Zeke,

I think Tamiya and Hasegawa are more expensive because they were here before the others. But honestly, I saw the Sherman kit by Dragon... not bad for the price... individual links pa... the Tamiya Sherman was good in terms of fit and detail but like you said... pricey.

I am starting to see a changing of the guard soon. Look at the quality of Trumpeter, Dragon, Academy and other Asian-made kits (other than the Japanese ones)... soon they will be the market leaders because they have better-looking kits, easier to build and most importantly, value for money. Rod,

How is the quality of Minihobby kits nowadays? I tried doing a Titanic a couple of months ago and the kit went straight to my kids' toy box... Almost everything about the kit was bad. I think that was one of the first designs kasi I guess.

Anybody out there has built the new Minihobby kits? They're quite expensive (a little lower in price as Dragon) but how are the details and fit?

Jun

Trumpeter Sturer Emil Completed...

Well I have finally completed the beast and I really had lots of fun doing it. I may have "over-weathered" it but I liked how it turned out. I built the kit out of the box. I modified the kill markings a little bit considering the references I found on the web. Actually the superstructure housing the gun is not yet fixed to the hull as I may do a dio later and it would be easier for me to fit the figures without the superstructure.

basically I think that this is a very god kit and great value for money. My only comment is that the small parts required lots of cleanup but such parts have good details.

I realized that there might have been too much light that some details may have been rendered unnoticeable.

Here are the major views...

The tracks are a bit tight and will allow only minimal sag...

View of the rear access door...

Some interior shots...

View of the front up close...

I think I'll do another less expensive Trumpeter kit for my next project. Smile [:)]

Comments and suggestions will always be welcome.Tongue [:P]

Very nice build Dwight. Inggit ako sa'yo dami mong time mag build.
Naalala ko tuloy sabi sakin ni Kumander noong mag-un pa lang kami;
"...wag ka muna mag-aasawa ha..." ngayon alam ko na LOL!

Sana makita namin to sa Trumpeter Exhibit.

Hi guys. Thanks for the replies. I hope I can bring this one but I am scheduled to go to Leyte this August but the schedule has yet to finalized. We will see.

Lipton: Actually medyo hirap na rin ako with 3 kids and all. I have to wait for them to sleep to be able to get 1-2 hours of modeling time. Usually 10-12 na ako ng gabi nakakagawa. Nakakapuyat nga eh. He-he-he.
