Thanks Cbrain.

Zeke: Yep unlike the KV-1 where you have a choice of one-piece vinyl and link and length tracks, this one only offers one-piece vinyl tracks pero OK naman ang details.

Maybe you just ask me specific questions and I will try to answer them the best I can. When are you starting with your KV-1?

zeke: That's great! I've heard nothing but good feedback from the other modelers about that airbrush. Good luck and have fun learning how to use your airbrush.

beth: Speaking of Badger airbrush maintenance.... where do you get spare parts for your airbrush? I sort of slightly bent the tip of the mid-size needle for my 175 Crescendo.... I can still use it but I'm afraid that I might not be using the a/b's full potential. I also have with me a friend's Badger 150 which needs a complete valve assembly replacement. Ouch!

Hi guys, I'm andrew, sort of a new-old guy. Just back to the forum after a year AWOL.

Anybody know where i can have my Spray-Work compressor repaired? One of the four air bladders is torn and Tamiya doesn't have a replacement available. Sabi nila kay Miss Lil masyadong mahal daw ang internal na piyesa. I can't afford a new compressor -- I'm open to suggestions on alternative sources of air.

during college este after college when my a/b started having problems i usually buy parts from Joli's besides UST cor. Gov. Porbes sometimes at Bevan in Quiapo, Recto (tama ba?) either its a needle or the nozzle due to wear. I've haven't had problem with my Thompson compressor yet its noisy and dances alot.Big Smile [:D]

emjaetee: Thanks for the kind words.

Andrew: The same thing happenned to my Tamiya compressor. Actually dalawa ang napunit. Since there is no spare parts available, I used duct tape to fix it. Seems like the duct tape is holding on. Probably not the best solution there is but I also don't have money for a new unit.

I gotta question for all Noy-pi modelers: Would you folks be open to domestic resin manufacturers and if so, what would you like to see made? Accuracy, engineering and reasonable costs are of course optimal. Just a survey for a new product line for a friend's factory in Pampanga.

Appreciate the information.

Thanks beth, will definitely visit that store one of these days. I used to be a suki of Joli's for engineering and art supplies too way back in college. Didn't know they had stuff that would also be useful for modeling. ehehehe

andrew_o :

Hi and welcome back sa thread. Regarding resin.... ooh, I would definitely love to have 1/24 resin modification parts for cars. A lot of IPMS members would also love those detail-up resin parts for aircraft cockpits and the likes.

grippin :

Welcome sa thread. Hmn.... removing decals.... I haven't tried removing decals alone but I've already tried removing decals from a kit including its paint. Just soaked it in brake fluid with the intention of removing the paint; the decal was removed too.

I'm not sure but you might want to try acetone. Apply acetone on the decal with a cotton bud and try to scrape the decal off in the process. Just take extra care, the paint might get scraped off too.

hi andrew,

that would be a welcome development since i will expect resin afternarket parts/kits made here in the Philippines to cost much less than those made in the us, uk and east europe. Big Smile [:D]

the subjects? maybe conversion parts or a complete kit of aircraft and armor used by the Philippine military such as the S-211 of the Philippine Air Force...Smile [:)]

hi grippin,

or you may try using Scotch tape. place a fresh tape over the decal and remove quickly.

or you may try soaking the decal in decal setting solutions (microscale, mr. mark softer) although this may take time...

nice site, grippin. good thing you still kept your matchbox kits. these were my first kits and just by looking at them made me reminisce... Laugh [(-D]

Blush [:I] Wow, I never thought of that. Thanks too for the tip Jim. Big Smile [:D] Problem though is, Would the scotch tape technique also work if the decal has already been painted over with clear paint? Approve [^]

grippin

Well, I've been using brake fluid to strip off paint for quite some time now. So far, all the plastic kits I've immersed in the fluid still remains intact 'til now. Wink [;)]

hmmm... oo nga ano..? Blush [:I]

but imo, how effective this technique is will depend on how the decal was applied, not if there is clear paint over it or not.

if there is some silvering, the decal may be removed easily by tape. if the decal has good adhesion, a combination of techniques may work, like tape and then soaking in decal solution on remaining shreds of the decal that cannot be removed by tape...
