What’s on Your Bench Now?

I really don't think I have enough Mustangs on the shelf. Eleven, counting three old Monogram F-82 builds. So, right now there are three Mustangs on the bench: Accurate Miniatures P-51B, Tamiya P-51B, and Tamiya P-51D, and the odd Model USA L-19/O-1 Bird Dog. Plus there are some 1/48 scale figures scattered about being painted for a couple of vignettes involving the Mustangs.

Hmmm:

 My trailer, A European Ferry, A lotus race car and the S.S.United States in paper. I work a little on each until I get my eyes sorted out!

I have a Meng Magach waiting for Blacken-it for the tracks, Tamiya Panzer IV/70 A waiting on me to build the tracks and an Academy SBD-1 waiting for clear coat and decals. I'm just looking for a little motivation to get me going.

Typical AL kit. Looks great. Good wood parts, laser cut and nice fittings. Couple of problems planking the deck and now have small problem continuing with adding the bulwarks and planking but nothing that can't be fixed. WIP in Ship section.

Jusr cleaning off my bench.  A Tamiya Gloster Meteor Mk 1 is going on bench then.  Every year the Hope-it-don't-snow event has a special award- Best Early Jet, so am shooting for that.

1/48 Monogram T-6 Texan and a 1/48 Tamiya P-51B - hope to wrap these up before the end of the year.

I am actually working on 2 models at the same time right now.  I have never done this before.

I am working on a Chevy Astro van kit from Fujimi. I am doing a lot of scratch building to make a custom van.

To avoid burnout I take breaks from the scratch building to work on a curbside model. This vehicle is a 1974 Toyota Grande MKII.

I've got a few kits in various stages of construction (barely started to almost done) right now, but this is my current focus build. A shelf of doom kit started ages ago and sidelined repeatedly...

This is the old Testors Italeri Marder III H. It was at this point when I resumed construction this past summer...

Pat, that reminds me of the old Rat Fink t-Shirts, with a bid blower, hurst shifter, and some kind of creature out the top of the roof. That definately looks like a gasser all the way. 

For Jarrod and I, this is what we are working on at the moment:

Eduard Russian P-39 2fer.

Academy's new-ish 1/48 A-10C Warthog. An interesting build would be putting it mildly. The detail is beyond great for OOB - that slide-molded single-piece rear fuselage is pure genius, one of the best single model parts I've ever seen. But there isn't much room for error. It seems like even a single layer of paint on a gluing surface is enough to make the fit up of certain seams go all wacky. It's like they didn't factor this is or engineered it with the same sort of thinking as a armor build where you prime/paint the entire vehicle when the full build is done. The lack of connecting pin locations for the front segment of the fuselage adds a lot more difficulty to what in the instructions would appear to be a basic build. And the landing gear is just plain horrible. 

Oh, well, onwards & upwards. It'll turn out fine despite these annoyances. BTW, does anyone know what color the inside of the engine cowlings on an A-10C should be? Academy's paint instructions are adequate but they left out the cowling interiors, which stinks because the wrong color will be obvious & noticeable.

Looks like the ghost grey on the cone section and an off-white or sky grey on the straighter cylindrical part. Amazingly clean too, given how close the engines must be to the interior faces of the cowling.

Well, had to put models aside for a few days.

       Eyes are sorted and I now have (No Pictures, sorry) The "Goethe" River Steamer, U.S.S. Pegasus Hydrofoil and the "Playstation" catamaran under construction. Of those listed the "Playstation " is the one giving me fits!

The damaged A-10 cowl is somewhat clean as it's the outer cowl, the inner cowl is not so clean.
