Getting closer every day.

The concrete hardstand ready for paint....

I installed all the electronics after the concrete was painted.  I have to relocate the remote sensor.  It's not working.

One of the fuel drums contains the magnet to activate the switch.

Tomorrow, the grass and earth will be added and more weathering.

Cheers

Just too cool for words.  I know it's way to late for this but I found this link the other day and thought of your build.

This is the restoration of a 17 in England.  There is some really interesting details that I had never seen before.

Appreciate the look and more to follow,

I saw your video....

I think I'm going to bed and start weeping now...
No really lancair, that's like one of the most, if not,

THE MOST EPIC MODEL EVER!

Really, I wish that one day I will be able to make something that functionual as you just did...
I would be happy with lights or engines, but both?

Ditto! Just when I think I might have a little clue, and am getting some skills, I take a look at this. Dang! Unbelievable, not only from a skill perspective but from a fanatical commitment perspective! Well done, I'd love to see that in person!

Thanks for all the compliments.  3 years ago today, I started this project.  Today, she's complete.....  All I have to do is find a place to display her.  Maybe I'll hang the B-1B from the ceiling.

This picture is the underside of the base showing the electronics.

The completed Hardstand

And the completed B-17G

And the cover in place

I hope everyone enjoyed the WIP.  Time for a beer...

Thanks Rob for taking us along for this great ride. I hope that I can access this thread for a while for educational purposes. Now you can afford to kick back and relax for a while and contemplate your next major project.  This thing is definitely a " Work of Art " .  Congrats for a job well done.     Bob H.

3years... now I'm not even modeling that 'long'!
It looks superb, Museums should be jalous not to have this thing!

I also really like your diorama and display case!
I can't wait to see what you are going to do next,
apart from laying back and watching the great job you've pulled off

I entered her in her first show today.  SEMMEX 2012 in Eastpoint, Mi.  I was very surprised with Best in Show - Modelers Choice.  The biggest comment I heard was about the lack of smoke on engine start-up.  I need to work on that..........  Time for a beer.  FERMIS didn't show.  That's why I won Best of Show.....

Thanks Fermis......

I'm about two years into mine.  I hope it comes out as fine as yours did.  Great minds think alike I guess.

Fantastic build!  This was really eye-opening to me as to the possibilities and some of the methods.  I'm just about to get going with my re-engagement with the hobby, and this really fired me up.

Congratulations on the showing, and I look forward to seeing more of your handiwork.
