Here is the build I just completed of Monogram's lovely F-5 Tiger II.  I recall building the F-20 many moons ago, so I may tackle that one in the future.  Enjoy.

Yep, it comes with the wing fold option, plus a really nice display stand. I might take some pictures of the sprues and post them later on today...... I'm still amazed at the detail this kit has, and how low-cost it is. Makes you wonder how this company can put out the level of detail seen in a high-end kit for about 40% of the price.

I would love to see one built up close and personal. IIRC, it offers a wingfold option when built, so those are always kits that tempt me with my display space challenges. I look forward to yours Dawg.

Thanks, Stik. This one just might be my next project. First, I've gotta finish a 1965 Ford Mustang (AMT) for my wife (her first car - wish she would've kept that one......), then this one is hi-pri. Saw another thread where Electric Blues built this kit very recently, and had nothing but great results from it. Whetted my appetite for it.

Since it does not have origins of Tamigawa and is a Revell (Germany) original molding, yes, please do. I have read nothing but good things about that kit. Revell Germany and Revell USA new molding kits are simply outstanding. Superb values for the money, and yes, if they were put out by the other guys, they would cost far more.

Dawg, it depends upon the kit. Some RoG are their own molds, some are R/M USA,  and still others have various pedigrees: Italeri, Matchbox, Dragon, Hasegawa, etc. They seem to partake in a LOT of mold trading.

I just bought the 1/32nd Revell Of Germany Ar-196A-3 kit, and didn't know if it could be included on this thread. Wasn't too sure about the rules. I gotta tell you this, though - I bought the kit from HobbyTownUSA for $38 this past Saturday, and I am simply amazed at the level of detail in it. This would easily cost $100 or more if had the Tamiya or Hasegawa name on it...

The comments on this thread lately have been nothing short of brilliant. The reference to Sinatra ripping on Billy Idol I believe was from SNL and was the brainchild of Phil Hartman; a man of immense talent who was taken from us far too soon.

Bull's-eye!  From "The Sinatra Group", which spoofed "The MacLaughlin Group", which SNL also spoofed pretty frequently.  Hartman's depiction of Sinatra was excellent.  "Issue One-The Bald Chick--What's With Her Head?"  Yes, Phil is sadly missed.

I watched so much TV over the years, that many of the first thoughts that pop into my head are references to some show or another.  Kind of like Brian Benben in "Dream On!"

A lot of the RoG's are repops of original Revell's like the 1/32 fighters (Spit I, Hurricane I, Seafire I, original Me-109G or repopped as F) with the exception of the Bf-109G recently released.

Barbie was close enough to a chew-toy that the dachshund could be recruited as the enthusiastic ground component, with the Corsair providing close air support. The little plastic fashionista never stood a chance....

Even if you recognize that there are newer kits with more modern engineering, no true Monogram fan would say that about the kit.  We may disable those features, when we build the kits today, but we still remember them fondly from our youth.

True enough. And though this kit, in its original form (before Revell retooled it a bit in the '80s???) had NO cockpit detail -- just a badly-molded pilot that you glued to a sort of half-bulkhead floating in space -- it did offer eight rockets for under the wings, a CL main drop-tank and choice of either 2 more tanks or some pretty decent bombs for the underwing pylons. By the standards of the $4.00 kits of the day, that was a lot of ordinance with which to attack little sister's Barbie's dream house.

well this one, the Avenger, Hellcat, Helldiver, Wildcat, Dauntless, and Zero were all more lesst to build and play with or build to show how certain parts of the real thing worked. The Corsair has a pretty nice cockpit, but you cant see it unless you do what was done here. The Dauntless, Avenger, Hellcat, Wildcat, and Helldiver all have the same working features, folding wings, retractable landing gear, opening bomb bays and droppable bombs/torpedoes, all for the sake of making it fun to build and play with. My first Corsair and Helldiver were worn out by my playing with them, especially the Helldiver with its opening bomb bay, crutch mounted bomb, opening canopies and retractable landing gear.

The Zeros only real working features were a spinning prop and working landing gear.

Ahhh those were the days of refighting aerial battles over the Pacific

Now, having said that, let me say, excellent Corsair, Greg, great finish!
