Not sure about 1/48, but Heller kitted it in 1/72.

Okay, I'm confused on this bird.  Never having used PE before, did I misunderstand one of the build reviews that you are supposed to cut away all of the plastic "flaps" on the wings to make way for the PE flaps?  In the pic above it looks like pzl painted the plastic which was to be removed (if using the PE) red, or am I missing something? Confused

Im doing mine closed. But my kit was a low priced kit due to it not having the PE and decals, I have the Eduard set so I will have to modify it to be closed since the Eduard was meant to be open..

So if you want them closed leave the plastic there, if you want them open buy the Eduard set, it is really nice!!

So if I want the top flap closed and the bottom "dropped" open then I would leave that plastic piece and just glue the others in proper position?

Well, it's a good thing I'm not yet to the flap part but right now I'm thinking of keeping the plastic flap structure, drilling it out and then mounting the PE flaps (the top flush with wing surface, the bottom dropped).  But it seems like too much flap structure for the real bird but in the above photo by pzl, it just doesn't look "right", like the flaps should be flush to the ailerons.

For the flaps, there is an inner and outer flap. So the portion painted red (in above pic) is the inner set of flaps.

Ahh.... that clears things up.  I never heard of an "inner" flap, is that unusual, the SBD doesn't have that?

Well I'll tell you about the latest "flap" on this deal.  So I decided the canopy looked like an Eduard paint mask was called for, so since SpruBro was sold out, thought I'd give Squadron a try.  Ordered it, waited no mask, finally called and "Oh, that's on back order".  It would be nice if they (Squadron) would do like Spru and have "real time" inventory control, anywho, that's my rant for the day...... so far.

I wonder if all this group build action is causing the parts to be out of stock.. Iearned that some times you have to order the parts when you dont need it. Because when you do they are all gone.

This is the first time I've had the "pleasure" of working with PE.  Thought i'd give the tape harness belts with PE buckels and hardware a try, talk about jeweler work! Bet I spent the better part of half an hour trying to thead and glue the belt into place, what a PIA.

Wow, so am I the only one still working on this ugly duck? Huh?

Hope to have pics of the interior tonight before she's sealed up.  This AM/ProMod kit is nicely detailed but the interior fit has been a little tight and somewhat confusing from the directions.
