Thanks Fermis, not to make it anymore difficult to chose a scheme..

 That's why I'm here!Wink

Been slackin on updates.....time has not been on my side!

There was a huge gap behind the pilot seat bulkhead....a little sheet styrene to the rescue.

Guess I forgot to snap a pic of it sanded down.....not hard to imagine.

Moving on.....The kits clear parts will not fit in the open position....but the kit does have the option to pose the rear deck up or down.....Tongue Tied. I wanted pilots and gunners canopies open, so I thermo-formed new ones.

....and I did some painting over the last few days!

Wow---that smash-moulding still amazes me.  Where are some pit pics?

Since Fermis is AWOL I'll take a stab at that since I believe he mentioned this technique once before.  I believe he uses simple packaging material for the clear plastic---something that you might buy that has a clear blister pack over it...I think he simply heats it and then "smashes" it down over his "master"...

Makes sense...leave it to Fermis.  I know if I try it I will burn my house down.

Yep. I think he also uses the plastic from 2 litre soda bottles too.

Manny is correct....this particular plastic came from a perfume set I got my wife for x-mas last year....not so much for the perfume, but more for the plastic!

I have used other blister pack plastic also, some works, some just doesn't. As for the pop bottle plastic....that's a NO GO. You'll just get a melted hole before the plastic even gets soft.

....and Manny, pit pics are back somewhere around pg.12 or so.....you've seen em!Toast

I stand corrected sir!  Someone was saying they used soda bottle plastic for smash molding, thought it was you. I have a plastic tote full of plastic wrappers and such, much thinner than soda bottle plastic. Anyways, nice work you`re doing on your Beast!

I think they even named a rock band after this technique:  "Smash Mold" or something like that...

Yeh Hans,  Mattel was way ahead of their time with this "toy".  As simple, safe and convenient as their vac-u-form was, it could be still making money if they produced it.  Well maybe,  it would probably just be a bunch of old Baby Boomers interested when it came down to it.  It is a nice little outfit.     Rick.

Heh.. I doubt Mattel would be in business, Rick.. In our current society, with its propensity for seeking monetary gain from the slightest source of injury through user/parental stupidity, a "toy" that used heat and household current (through an ungrounded plug) would have bankrupted them in a month...

Hell, people today grow up wearing  helmets while riding bicycles and shorts & sneakers while riding motorcycles, and when driving, they need a TV camera and automatic braking to keep from running over their own kid in the driveway...

Us Boomers grew up just  fine, and the cars had no seatbelts and steel dashboards...

Agreed for same reasons.

Wonder if future model builders will need permission to own some of the tools we now take for granted.

While waiting on my PE stuff to arrive got start on the pit, and fixed to seat. Cut out the section that was just way to plain and added some bent wire to simulate the real seat. Better now in my eyes. Wanted to get more stuff done but until the PE comes in is when I know what I need to scratch build or not. Looking at chuck's build his PE had the bomb release? control tower (left side of cockpit mounted on the floor) in PE and dunno if the Eduard zoom set comes with that. If not I have a block of resin that can do the trick... This is a really nice kit BTW.

Got the PE today, just the basic color set so that means some scratch build will be needed. First time for everything. More progress tonight!

If there`s a will to get high, there will be a way. "Huffing" was a scourge in Philly when I was a kid. I was a US Naval Sea Cadet back in the early `80`s and sometimes had to ride the "El" (elevated trains) and a bus to get to drill. Bridge and Pratt was the major hub and anywhere you looked, there were signs of it...paper bags with paint in `em, dust masks, you name it. It was easy to pick out the offenders too...Clown

As for the fumes, I either took a break or moved to better ventilation.

Never liked the vapor induced  headaches

I have to give alot of credit to the well engineered kit. To those who think Revell doesnt make great kits should build one of these, hell Accurate Miniatures thought it was great too to put their name on this particular kit. Yet another kit the proves Revell is well worth the money.

Still need to add the radio components before the instructions say to close her up. Even though the picture doesnt show it due to flash wash-out it has some dry brushing but will add alittle grime to this interior. More late tonight.
