I thinned down the gunners "rings", as well as the edges of the seatpan. Rolled up some Tamiya tape to represent the liferaft, in its container.

AWESOME FLOAT PLANE!
Posted by Ninetalis on Monday, May 14, 2012 1:36 PM

A pretty crazy sight, but this was a Helldiver with floats, never went into production.
Note the fin on the underside of the tail.

Scratchbuild anyone?
With regards, Ninetalis.

I wonder if a slightly worn B-36 could be converted?

Ninetalis, I think you can scratch build that!!

I would if I knew how to do it, Never scratchbuilded something like that before, I only did some scratch parts to put into the cockpit, that's all.
I  will make it, one day, but I do not have the experience yet to make something like this.
First need to get used to using airbrush, then I'll start making some conversion thingies and scratchbuild some more. I'm also thinking about building a wildcatfish in 1:48 one day (wildcat with floats)

With regards, Ninetalis.

Those look liked modified Kingfisher floats...wouldn't be that hard. Lone Star Models even makes resin floats in the proper size.

I once took two Kingfisher floats.. reworked them from Vought floats to Edo floats.. and made the F4s-3, Wildcatfish.

 Manstein's revenge:

On the second bounce the wings folded...

...and the floats folded on the third bounce...

The tail was notorious for falling off on landing.

That most likely fell off at the second or third bounce.

Didn't need to bomb using that aircraft.

Curtis management did such a good job of bombing, they put the company out of business after the war.
