Hey I'd love to join an Intruder group build if there is room for one more. I broke sprue on the Kinetic 1/48 offering for the Nose Art GB a few months ago before losing my bench to home repairs. Looking to get back in the chair in the coming weeks.

Ok fine. I'm in but it'll be a while. I gotta finish what I have on the bench. I'll be doing a 1/48 Revell A-6E Intruder. Gonna get some aftermarket stuff and decals.

No problem - I've got a quick jump, but I've really only assembled the "shoulders" on mine. I'll keep the box close to the bench & try to give it some attention while waiting for the paint to dry on the other kits I'm juggling right now.

Both are low-vis options, but I saw sheets in my search that had a red bird's head for the Navy (Roadrunners) option, and a yellow crescent moon on the Marines' option.

The Badge... haha - "The cat's away" today, I'll be taking a long lunch & gathering some ideas up for the badge. I was going to start it last night but couldn't resist cracking my box open last night.

Good clear parts...

The gear bays on the Italeri kit aren't boxed in...

But considering this is the angle someone will have to see that opening - well, fermis would probably fill it up with Arizona Tea tin, but I'm leaving it alone.

Wing fold detail is an insert sandwiched between the upper & lower wing halves. I'll take a look at some pics, but I think the only thing I'll need to add is some hydraulic lines - and if I do that right I could probably use thin brass rod which will also strengthen the joint...

Inner wing assemblies glued, dry-fitted into the fuselage halves...

the VA-85 cruise was a MED cruise on the Forrestal

and VA-196 only operated the B model in mixes with the A, not the E

the first -196 E cruise was on the Enterprise from July 1976-on

"Fleet Locations" sometimes matches up with GoNavy site,,,,,,but,,,,in all cases that they differ,,,,,,,"Fleet" is the tie breaker

Just in case anyone was wondering.

The first Navy unit to deploy for a cruise with the A-6E model was VA-85 in late 1971. Their only deployment over Vietnam was with CVW-14's VA-196, grouped in that unit with the A-6B SAM buster and KA-6D tanker, off the Enterprise (CVAN-65) from September 1972 to June 1973.
