Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?
Posted by mustang1989 on Sunday, June 10, 2012 2:29 PM

I'm going to start this thread because I know that most of us have that one kit in our stash that we bought because it was the craziest looking or the "most one of a kind" kit that we definitely need to buy NOW or we won't be able to later. For me it was definitely the BV 141. For me this is definitely the weirdest looking aircraft I have ever seen in my life. And so it starts...Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?

Well here it is on the 6th of Feb 2013. I thought I would revive this thread because we have enough new members to get some more input with. So here goes:

Oh and here's the pic

I'm a big fan of Luft 46 aircraft, so that gives a lot of scope for some odd designs. But currently, the oddest one i have is the Triebflugel.

Nice. I haven't seen that one in kit form yet. Where in the world did you pick that one up?

Its still around. I got mine from Hannants, and they still have some in stock. Though it is a bit pricey for the amount of detail. And i have heard there is an issue with the panel lines. I plan on building it soon for a couple of GB's on here. Theres also a 1/48th kit, but thats resin.

http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?product_category_id=&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=&code=&product_type_id=&scale_id=&keyword_search=Triebflugel&setPerPage=25&currency_id=

But i am sure you could find the Huma kit in your neck of the woods.

In Corpus? No way. We had Leisure Time hobbies until about 10 years ago(right after my wife and I moved here) The only hobby stores we have here are HL and Micheals if you want to call thoe hobby shops. I will, however, look for that 1/48th resin kit. Is it made by the same manufacturer?

No, HUMA are a German company. Planet Models are from the Czech Republic and the same company as CMK and Special Hobby. I think you would be lucky to find these types of kits in an LHS, unless yours are more hard core than ours are. But if you can order online, Sprue Brothers has the resin kit. They have 1 left.

Looks like a great project build after the BV141. Thank you for the heads up.

No problem. Be nice to see how it turns out. Hopefully we will see some more weird and wounderful kits.

No doubt. I was just going through my stash to see what I wanted to build next and I found the BV141. Then I just started the thread to see what kind of stuff everybody had. I hope to see some unusual ones too.

and then the re-pop of Revell Late 1960's / early 1970s

then the

and POGO

You know I remember the Rommels Rod from when I was a kid and didn't know what I was looking at.

and then the re-pop of Revell Late 1960's / early 1970s

Weirdest 'aircraft'?  The Polar Lights re-pop of the Jetson's Space Ship (the one that converted into George's briefcase with the push of a button).

Another is the Polar Lights 'Shop of Horror' Guillotine kit.  And yet another is TV Tommy Ivo's 4-engine dragster.  It's a Revell re-issue.  I don't have that much weird stuff as aircraft.

Nothing too weird about the military kits I have, now regarding figures the one below call 'Evil Fox' is pretty cool. The below pics are from E2046 as I have not taken any progress photo's yet.

The kit is 1/6th scale and I have just started working on it a little bit here and there. Clean up of flash and seams was easy, the fit of the dragon's head was excellent, see some fit problems fitting the woman to where she's suppose to be ( but isn't that typical?). Surprisingly the wife loves the kit.

Not very weird, but it's the closest thing I got to weird. (Unless you count the FW-189 weird)

haha, I saw "weird" both ways

the weirdest aircraft kit I have in the stash is the XF5U-1 Flapjack

the weirdest "kit" is a Vee Day JN Jenny,,,,,,I might build it one day, but, I have an Olimp kit,, so there isn't much need to torture myself

another Weird kit,,,,,is a short stack of StarFix T-38s,,,,,I plan to build them up, let people oooo and ahhh over the "Hasegawa kit",,,,and then show them the box tops (same mold, lol)

Weird aircraft: 1/72 BV-141, a Bilek repop of the Airfix kit.

As for weird/obscure kits: Airmodel Me-163C, Lavochkin La-15 (2 vacs and one injection molded) of unknown origin, WAKU Yak-11.

Weirdest aircraft... I've got the Airfix BV141 in there, maybe the Kamov 25 twin-rotor helicopter (also Airfix), which is weird for me. The weirdest though... probably the MPC Star Wars kits I was gifted, a Trade Federation Tank, and a Battle Droid riding a STAP.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Hello, fellow TEXAN!You could E-MAIL either HILL COUNTRY HOBBIES on BANDERA rd in SAN ANTONIO or KINGS in AUSTIN.They do mail order and credit card sales for long distance customers.I live in NEW BRAUNFELS so I do that a lot. TANKER-builder    P.S my weirdest kit is probably the two types of "POGO" type of aircraft. I haven,t built them since I bought them over twelve years ago.

Oh, Oh - I stand in humility . I forgot to mention that Hill Country Hobbies is closed on mondays . Please forgive this humble old Phart !

That's funny. I am in San Antonio today for training up from Corpus and was thinking about visiting a hobby shop today. I'll look up Hill Country Hobbies. Thanks for the tip and reminder, Joe

Well does it have to be aircraft? I guess aircraft wise mine would be the Flying Flapjack too:

And then a pile of garage kits, just two of them:
