Ninetalis

Thanks Borg! Didn't know that, But I don't think I'll find that one anymore...

Hans, I can't really agree, Grumman GB? Bf109 GB? B-17 GB?
All have badges and start and end date,
I could agree when you mean Manstein's GB's, these are build alongs yes, but even they have badges and end dates, but they are less... visible

Vance, If you are interested, I have made this during my boredomness...
http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss153/Ninetalis/Signatures/frenchGB3.jpg

Could edit the date, size or anything else you'd want...

With regards, Ninetalis.

Nicely done - and saves me setting one up! Cool

Alright, that's it, I'll throw the feeler up there right now so we can get it set up.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Tiny's B-17 GB doesn't have a badge or dates, niether does the B-25 I started (although I think someone wanted to make one.. I dunno if they did or not) ..

I do agree about the Gruman and Bf109s being in the worng forum, but oh well...

I started this thread after a month or so of joining the forum. There are enough new members here to get some additional input and conversation started. So if youre new check out the posts and add your own to the list and if you not new feel free to check em out again and possibly add some more to the list. Have fun, Joe

Not a new member, and don't remember if I posted to this thread or not. BUT, here's another one just in case. Kamov KA-26 light utility helicopter. Odd, I thought, due to the large engine pods on either side.

I don't remember whether I ever posted here either, but currently, the 'weirdest' model kits I currently have in my stash are the following. Not all are aircraft:

If I wasn't supposed to post those, then I understand if a moderator decides to remove them.

Maybe this Thread could be in a more general Forum.

I think you're fine, Maddog. Funny thing-I've been trying to find a good kit of a stagecoach or covered wagon lately. Had a strange urge to model something out of the American West.  Interesting you should post these up now.

The weirdest kit in my stash is the old Aurora 'Cornelius' figure from the original Planet of the Apes movie...  I've been trying to paint it (unsuccessfully) for going on 5 or 6 years now.

I've got strange models up the Yin-Yang:

RS DeSchelde S-21

The DeSchelde S-21 was a wacky looking fighter prototype that actually got into the air,  What were the Dutch thinking, sticking a huge glasshouse canopy on a fighter?  And what's with the machine guns sticking through the lower canopy glass?  That's an accident waiting to happen.

Fruitbat Lerche

The Heinkel Lerche II was another "Luftwaffe 1946" proposal for a VTOL point defence interceptor.  A pair of reciprocating engines pretty much fills the fuselage - I wonder where the fuel would go?  It is interesting that such an improbable concept became reality with the Convair Pogo and Lockheed Salmon.

Choroszy Manta

"Kriegsmarine 1946"  The Manta was a proposal for a submarine that could become a planing surface attack craft.  The flat top contained four torpedo tubes.  As nutty as this thing looks, I think it could have worked.  I can also see Bronco coming out with a 1/35 kit.  Please?  Propeller

HGUC Zock

The Zock is the most stupid looking mobile suit in my collection.  Looking like some unholy union between a coffee pot and parrot, I nevertheless find the design fascinating.  It has the distinction of being one of the few designs that are symmetrical front to back.  Bandai must have saved a bunch of money designing this kit, as they only had to engineer half a kit and just throw in two sets of sprues!

I have none but I am tempted to go and get something off the wall literally HA! But  I did see a model of the headless horseman from Sleepy Hollow in one of my local hobby shops, and when I say one of, there's 3 in Belfast within 5 minutes walking distance of each other, when considering the internet is a good thing. I might get that kit as it's really weird.

dean27: Haven't seen the headless horseman either! Must be nice to have the LHS's so close. Man I wished Corpus just had ONE! San Antonio is within 2 hours and it has a couple of decent ones though.

probably the same way i do. i have a photoshop file and add a new badge on a new layer, scale it to the size i want save it and export as a JPG. than drop the picture into photobucket and add the image code in the settings. it is only 1 file so there is enough character space.

I use paint.net. I open one new file and make sure its big enough to hold the badge I want to add. Then just add all the badge. Once I want to add some more, I can just add as needed. As wayne says, because its only one image, it isn't to big to post.

It confuses the hell out of me, but it works.

Bish,

Yeah, the Lerche is a resin kit by Fruitbat.  It was unusual in having an ultra-thin, pre-cut Plexiglas canopy.  I have never seen that in any other kit.  It is long out of production, but a drop tank and some sheet plastic could get you there!

I did a search it it and found a couple of old entries on E_Bay, but they were very pricy. But I found that Unicraft does a resin one as well, and its not a bad price, about £26. Theres a couple of theres I want, so will defiantly have to add this. It will go nicely next to my Triebflugel.

Bish,

Unicraft!  That name evokes hard, brittle, bubbly resin, crappy mastering, and high prices.  I bought a few of them, like the German atomic bombs and the British tank killer thingy.  All were consistently bad!  Their earlier efforts looked like the maker pushed epoxy putty into molds by hand to produce parts.  I took some notes and measurements of the A-bombs, then immediately gave the kit away.  The British tank buster still resides deep in the closet of doom, but aside from serving as a pattern for a possible scratch build, will never be completed.

I think I paid something like $36 USD for the Fruitbat Lerche kit when it was in production.  The resin was cleanly cast, and the only rough area was the inside of the annular wing leading edges where the mold parted.  The casters were in white metal and were similar in quality to Aeroclub stuff.  The only thing not included in the kit was a decal sheet, but for Luft '46 kits, is no big deal.

Really, are they that bad. I have only bought the A Bomb set but not used it yet. I will have to have another look at that set.
