Lol Allan, not sure I'd say I was 'into' such things but I find that the Japanese make such a thing hilarious and had to have them. I've only seen them on HobbyLink Japan where was looking for some Japanese soldier figures and came across them (HONEST!!!)

LINK

At the same time I was looking for a good book on Japanese army uniforms and found about two- and five or so on schoolgirl uniforms... Indifferent

So, Gamera, not that I myself am into these things, but I might have some, err, friends, who might be.  Where'd you get this?  lol.

From a strictly model-building perspective, one of the weirdest kits in my stash now (actually I bought 2), is Academy's 1/72 T-50 Golden Eagle.  Its meant to be a table top display/toy since its snap-together, has only a few parts and no landing gear. Its weird in that the surface detail of the kit is absolutely gorgeous; recessed panel lines and rivets! Im definitely going to upgrade it.

Actually if you're going to dig up a zombie thread this is a pretty cool one...

And that's just a taste of the crazy... I'll see what else I can find this weekend...

Ah, my favorite model subject!  I also like zombie shows. Stick out tongue  Weirdness is definitely a qualification that enters my buying choices.  Like so:

I don't have a photo of the Doozie vending machine (I have the Coke one), but here's a link:

http://www.hlj.com/product/DZYRS24028/Aut

It's an unusual subject and consists of only ONE resin part!  Plus waterslide decals.  A nice, fun model actually.  It does beg for a figure or two, a service station, some cars...

If I were a kid today, I'd be diagnosed with A.D.D.

not that I have it, and I want it somethinng awful, the old Monogram "Flying Flapjack" or "Fliying Flivver", had an electric motor rhat made the prop spin, wings flap, and it bounced around on its stand.

last one I saw for sale was better than a hundred dollars......

I'd like another one...or two...but in a more glue friendly plastic.

Unfortunately, the motors of the two I built while the kit was in production failed rather quickly and the plastic was not condusive to re-use as a Gobblin style what if.Bang HeadBang Head

I'll revive an old thread I started in 2012 when I first got on with FSM. I always thought this thread was alot of fun as I've seen some really oddball kits out there.

Deifinatly a thread thats worth breathing fresh life into. Be nice to see what new subjects we can add.................

MMMMM, good question, but i would say no. Its been less than 2 years and it was revived by the original poster.

However, we could start a thread and discuss it Big Smile

There was a German HE 111 that was two aircraft put together and it was intended to tow the huge glider. I do not recall the designation at the moment or who did a 1/72 scale model of it.

HE111Z (Zwilling - twin) - Hasegawa and Italeri have both offered this in 1/72. I don't know if they are different kits or the same kit in different boxes.

Damn, i seem to have missed these posts back then. But seeing as Phil is still an active member, better late than never.

They are definatly differant kits. Both nice, and while the Hase is better, i would not say its the extra bucks better.

Does this kit qualify-even though it is not of an aircraft?

if "weird" means a rare kit of subject then mine are probably the silver cloud MB5 's ; I've built the falcon vacform and, frankly, it was a lot less work than these will be...ebay beckons!- and a truly ghastly vacform Ju390.  another rarity I've started but may never finish is the heritage models Ju388; it's awful. lastly, if "weird" stretches to "what was I thinking of?", then I have an academy tomcat.....I don't do modern stuff, you see....

Not so much weird, but premature. Italeri's RF-18A Photo Hornet. Never entered service, only a few prototypes built.

That's gotta be a rare kit.

If I remember correctly Airfix did a 1/72 scale BV141 back in the 60s or 70s.

That is indeed a weird aircraft. I have the 1/48 th scale Hi Performance BV-141 kit (see the first post of this thread). I also just pre-ordered Hobbyboss's new 1/48 BV-141 on Friday. Looking forward to this build.

If I remember correctly Airfix did a 1/72 scale BV141 back in the 60s or 70s. The Aurora X13 was kinda weird in a cool way, but it and the POGO and one other VTOL were models of real aircraft. When I first saw the Harrier "jump jet" I thought it was the weirdest thing ever, but  it accomplished the VTOL role and lives on. There was a German HE 111 that was two aircraft put together and it was intended to tow the huge glider. I do not recall the designation at the moment or who did a 1/72 scale model of it. The  German PO1011 would go on to be flown as the Bell X-5 and the Jaguire swing wing would follow and then the Successful TFX project (F-111), and the F-14, and the Tornado.  Variable geometry wings were thought to be impossible, but then again so was manned flight. If I recall correctly the Tommy Ivo four engine car was a Salt Flats Record Holder and a real "car". The Munster dragster was done for the TV show as was the Bat Mobile and they are still on the car show circuit, as are a number of George Barris's "hot rods", Boyd  Codington's cars and the "Rat Finks" hot rods. There are models of some of these cars. Aurora did a bunch of horror movie stuff such as Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, and I would not be surprised if we see models of Zombies sooner than later. It is all fun and creative. I still have the Aurora Knight series and some of the molds are being produced by Polar lights and RM, as well as others. Lindberg did a stage coach with numerous horses and someone did a borax wagon with a mule team, and there was a Budwiser wagon with horses. Neat models, weird but neat and they followed me home. That's my story and I'm sticking to it..

Now that is interesting.......and there aint no WAY I'd fly that contraption! lol

BTW Gene, I've been to Pearland a couple of times to visit my brother in law. Cool place in the middle of a big city.

We're actually out in the country, between Pearland and Friendswood.  We're not far from Clover field, so we get to see a lot of restored aircraft fly over, and are within walking distance of Life Flight's Brazoria County hanger.

I'm not sure why this didn't show, but I remembered I had another odd one in my stash:

Haven't started on it yet, but have stashed away a ton of pictures of the real things.

CTD: Ok, that WWI chopper is pretty odd.

But I think Mustang has to win here, I mean the amoeba, euglena, and paramecium is just wow, ultra, crazy, over-the-top, weird...

Plus they're even anatomically accurate!!!

I wish I could find one to play giant space amoeba with my 1/1000th scale Polar Lights starship Enterprise!

Depending on the version you want to build, I'm sure there's got to be at least one photo etch after market available for each variant.  Probably some debate is still raging on the various websites as to whether this is an accurate build out of the box or if you to scratch build to make more accurate. LOL.
