I was wondering about them, too. It looks like the aircraft is flying at a high angle of attack, like it is close to stalling. I would bet at higher airspeed that they would close up.

That's where I was leaning, but they seem to be fluttering very fast---that doesn't seem mechanically sound to me...you'd think they would stay open or closed instead of occillating so fast in both positions...

Yeah that's right they're spring mounted like on the su27 so they will only be open or moving when the engines are running.

I can only see the pic with the cockpit parts... it requires a password to go poking about in there.

There we are you should be able to see the pictures from my build they're poor quality but thats all I can get until the weekend. You will have to skim through a lot of pictures on Photobucket as I have literally just downloaded them from my phone so there's other stuff there too but  you should be able to see the scratch built cockpit details and various other rubbish on there, but hopefully Sunday I should get some quality images on the forum and you can see where I am at. I have cut out the flaps so far and added resin pilots and a ton of spares decals. I am planning on doing an East German Mig29UB. You should be able to see the colour scheme in amongst the pictures.

Hmmm, why is it that it posts the links for the jpg instead of the actual pic? Is that something a Mac does? I copied the IMG code from photobucket and that's what it gave me. Weird.

Lookin' sharp Dre! I'm getting there. Got a small update, not much but I'm picking away at it. The fuselage is together as you can see. I'm not too impressed with this kit, as its been plagued with some fit issues. The office didn't fit well when closing the two halves and I've got several seams that will need filling, one of which is along the dorsal behind the cockpit, as shown. I think I'll model this one with the wheels up as something different, maybe hang it in my son's room.

I'll hopefully get more work done tonight! Then I have to make a trip to the LHS to get some paint.

I've spent this evening drawing and cutting some masking tape shapes to use on the MiG...I loosely followed the Eagle Strike decals color sheet, but it isn't going to be reference exact.

And then shot some of that MM Leather enamel in a haphazard way followed by more Leather cut heavily with Afrika Dunkelgrau for a dustier, faded mottled finish.   This dries tonight and tomorrow I hope to get some more masking and at least one green color thrown on.

I accidentally broke off the large nose probe..  it's a little easier to handle now.

I think he's bluffing with that HORNET marking on the tail...

agreed, nice recovery on the paint colour. You'd hate to get out-flanked by a Fulcrum...

Not only that, he let dinner walk away...   You don't just respect that, you stand and remove your hat when Fermis walks by.

I think that the lighter coloration looks better too, Fermis.

You gotta respect a man who can get in a deer-stand and hunt his dinner with a bow in-between applying paint coats on his MiG...

Got the camo finished up (twice!)....and got in an evening deer hunt!

My first go at the green, I mixed "topside green" and "gray green", along with some post shading. It looked great....until I pulled the masking off.....

WAAAAY  too dark....BOOOOOOOOO!

I re-masked, and mixed RLM71, with a dash of RLM02, and a little bit of "Fulcrum gray/green". I post-shaded a few times with the same mix, lightened with the gray/green....

Much better!

Kinda hard to see...the arrow is pointed right at it. I just watched this one for a while and let him walk away. Just a yearling buck that doesn't know any better.

What are you going to use for the green?   I have a Fulcrum in the stash and it's good to know these things.

There's a ton of options for Fulcrum schemes....I picked up some "Fulcrum grey green"(very pale green) and well as some "Russian topside green" (farely dark)....will start with a mix of the two and see how that looks. Looking for something a little more in line with this....

Wow---cool looking schemes...

...from my refs the Russian green on the MiG-29 should be very pale---almost a faded pea-green...
