10/4 Thanks a bunch. I needed the motivation to get my rear in gear on both. Now for one I'm missing a part so I gotta find my resin so I can cast a copy from another kit. HAH
Well, I'm calling this one done now. Actually finished it last week, but the shut down last week caused me to forget to take pics!
I guess I get to claim the first badge?!?!?!?!!!
....working my way up the airbrush learning curve......
I like it!!!
Hey all, you had to wait for it for a while but here's the updated badge...again
With regards, Ninetalis.
I'd say the verdict is guilty as charged---you're in with either or both. Get to work and post pics...
So what's the verdict all SU and MiG? also what's the verdict on how much can be completed before joining? I have a couple of Russian AC I need to finish up one of these days. The MiG 21 needs gear, doors, canopy, weapons and one more part then paint and decals.
Also have an SU-27 that needs all that and more. It's mostly glued together. Got lots of other exterior parts need to be attached, few cockpit parts as well, mostly seats need built. Using Eduard PE set so seats are a PITA. This whole plane has been one huge thorn in my side after another. I've put too much time and money into it to just abandon it though.
If these are too complete though it's all good. I'll still watch this GB with interest.
Gettin' jiggy wit ur miggy, are u?
I'm glad those 'life-like' passing wildlife decoys worked- they were well worth the $229 I spent on them...
I've spent the afternoon migging around on my model and using gentle persuasion on parts...
It's a strong kit that survives my building methods...
Nahh, he's out harvesting deer now from what I've heard.
On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
Chuckle...
...looks like Fermis wuz bluffin on this GB...just sayin'...
Dre is gettin' MiG-gy widdit!
Afghani AF ... before their AC were all trashed and sent to the scrapyard. It's not much of a scheme, but it is different.
But I might change my mind by the time I get to throwing paint at it...
also working on an Eduard Bf109 E-4 in between putty sessions on this one.
That 21 is looking mighty fine! What scheme?
So, I've gotten the fuselage puttied, smoothed and the wings attached... looks more like a MiG now. The blue tape is holding down a section of the spine that didn't want to fit right.
and some containers of random parts to be added when I get done puttying and blending some wing root gaps..
among other things to be done, I need to drill 3 tiny holes in the underside of the nose and in the top of the fin for the little round IFF antennae that sprout there.
Short run kits soft plastic at least on the two I built so far, a yak 23 and su1. They did not fall together, some sanding and trimming was needed to get the parts to fit together. Did not have to use a lot of putty but they were small kits too.
Also the decals were hit and miss had no trouble with the su 1 had some trouble with the yak tho.
But if you built short run kits before then you should not have any problems with these since you would know what to do.
Khalee2 Since the yak worked would a fiddler and or firebar work?. Even if I cant do them for the group build I'll get them anyway as they look interesting to me.

I've never seen either of those machines! Have you built A-Model's kits before? What do you think of them? They sem to have a good variety of Soviet aircraft, may have to pick up a couple.
That's an interesting interpretation of the Sukhoi Archer... pretty cool though.
No, make that 'very cool'.
Khalee - I can't say that I've ever sen either of those built up. Found some cool "noseart" on a Su-11, not sure if at was applied while active, or vandalized after retirement though:
Khalee, do the Yak!!
Don't talk back?
You're in with the Yak. Yackity Yak...
If I can't do the yak I'll enter the Amodel su11
well if I can I will enter this group build with this kit Amodel yak 25 interceptor
meh, a single-malt scotch would be nice...
Pics would be nice...
Thanks Vance!
Just because I know that Manny likes updates without pics...
I've gotten the nose ring (?) and front access panels in place and puttied and also glued the tail section onto the fuselage. A little cleanup on those seams and then I can start putting the wings on it...
Looking really good Dre!
Well, well, well---someone DOES know how to use a camera after all...cool...those bombs look sorta like German WW2 1000 kg "Hermann" bombs!
So here's the wheels and landing gear with the ordnance I plan to hang on my MiG...
and the thin shims I added to the wing roots to help close the gap on the underside. I'm still going to need to add some filler once these are glued to the fuselage. Bummer...
the fuselage as it stands now.. a few spots of sanding left
and the tail section with some painting done now when the masking is easiest. MM enamel gloss black followed by MM enamel steel. This needs to dry for a while before I glue the tail onto the rest of the fuselage and then add all the rest of the parts.
and that's that until this paint cures enough to safely handle. Time to finish painting a 1/48 Spitfire...
