I'm concentrating on another model right now, but I've made a little progress on my Mig-21along the way.. it's pretty much all the major sub-assemblies waiting to be assembled. I need to finish painting the cockpit and the rest should fall together pretty quickly afterwards.
so that's the MiG for now and this is the Frogfoot for eyecandy-
Its called muti-tasking!

Thanks for the warning---now get back to work and stop lurking in here, wasting time...
Well, you can't say I didn't warn you about the pics...if I must, I'll break out the digi-cam.
kustommodeler1 I'm mad. I have searched for the better part of this week, and cant find my scriber. Ordering another one....

Get to freekin' work...
Well, your pics suk but at least you're building---keep up the pace...
Ok, looks like I'm back in the game. At least for now! Been out of it for 6 months. Since Manny runs a tight (and demanding) ship, I'll have to pick up my game.
What I've started is the Revell 1/48 MiG-21 PF. Seems like a nice kit, same one Winetanker is building I believe. Not a lot of detail but I added some decals to the IP to fill in some of the dead space. All I've completed so far is the tub and I scrounged a pilot from my spares box who may or may not pass for a Soviet era pilot, but thats alright.
I'm not going nuts on this build as I don't have a whole lot of time on my hands. As per my usual MO, most of my WIP pics will be with the cell phone. A bit blurry but my WIPs generally aren't that impressive any way.

I went with that snazzy turquoise color because it was different.

Setting new standards for painfully slow builds
The decal only covered the central part...maybe I'll add some to it...
Ejector seat arrived and should fit w/ mods. I'm debating what color to paint the cushion/para pack.
....working my way up the airbrush learning curve......
That is a very small IP....!?!
Still waiting on my Ejection seat, but the IP is done....
Yep...the HO229 GB comes to mind...
Manstein's revenge Yeah. So start building or I'll change the name again---maybe to BIG Lazy Groupie GB....

Hey, I'd sign up for a Gb like that.... oh, wait, I am!
On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
Hi everyone,
We had to change the name of the group build. After talking with Manny, he suggested we change it to BIG Russian Jet Groupie GB. So that's what it is now. I apologize to Ninetalis that he'll have to redesign the badges. If you have any questions about the name change, you can message me personally. I don't want to derail this interesting thread anymore than I already have.

Thought so...didn't know the clam-shell covering also served as airbrakes...
I think Dre called it. I believe that's the chute housing.
"All you mugs need to get busy building, and post pics!"
"Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time".
That probe-looking thing could be a drag parachute housing, maybe?
What is this probe for?
Okay, can we please get back to building those "F"ing planes?
bondoman Watching a Farmer auction. God I hate that.
Watching a Farmer auction. God I hate that.
I heard crops were bad this year, but they've resorted to auctioning off the farmers now?!?!?!
Manstein's revenge Well if masking tape counted as building you'd be ahead of the game---but it don't, so start cutting and gluing styrene asap...

Alright! Alright! I hear you Herr Field Marshall, sheesh...(patience yound Jedi, he mumbles under his fetid breath...) While this is NOT my Group Build entry, I thought I would "warm up" with another fine Soviet aircraft. In fact, a worthy entry it would make on its own accord! Here is my AMT (Ertl, ?) Mig-27 Flogger D, in 1/48 of course. She is all but finished, needing only some loose ends and a few fiddly bits (and maybe just a smidge of putty in a couple spots). I'm sure proud of the result!
Seems to be a few Trumpeter Mig 21's going to get done, I look forward to seeing all of these models being made and I look forward to my first group build, this is great as I have never been to America and yet I know people from all over the world can join in together thanks to this US magazine, I love this about the internet, connects people. So yes I will do a Warsaw pact Mig 21MF whichever has the best colour scheme to my eye, well I look forward to starting and I also start a degree in October so I will have my work cut out!!! My kit will be the Trumpeter 1/32 Mig 21MF you all know what the box looks like so I wont post a pic.
