Manstein's revenge
Very nice----I dig the yellow numerals on the NMF...you are the first to finish!!!  Claim your GB Badge.

I wouldn't call it finished yet. Still got the Atolls to add and panel lines to highlight(which I did today)

Got the decals and landing gear on.

It's certainly not as spiffy as the one above.

Dre

So.. here's the pics of the MiG-21's cockpit and bangseat.  I used some Tamiya tape and spare buckles to make some seat belts to add a little flavor to the otherwise plain kit parts and used some internet photos to base the cockpit painting on.

I've glued the cockpit tub into the right half of the fuselage and the engine into the left side and taped the whole thing shut so everything would have correct alignment and position later.  Some nose weight remains to be added..  As I said, very exciting.

The rest of the work ought to go quickly from here....

Yes sir!  That's what I'm talkin' 'bout Dre!  Wow, that looks grand, I bet it'll be a cool plane when you're done.  Great cockpit!

Sorry I missed the start on this one.

I'll have to keep an eye out for if you guys have a Part II and make sure that I don't have so many projects in the works.  I have a 1:32 MiG-21 that I think would be a good contribution to this kind of GB.

The Bilek Farmer arrived. A very good looking kit and the decals look sharp as well. The instructions are of the Heller variety, as if drawn on someones backside in a bar... But that's not really a problem I think as there are not too many parts. The clears are crud.

But it has NVAF decals, plus some really good looking DDR ones that I may use instead of the planned Phantom killer.

Sprue shots tomorrow.

Dre

I should get a few more MiG-21MF pics up later tonight or this weekend....  not much more progress, but the cockpit is painted and ready to be installed.  I might close the fuselage tonight; it's really very exciting.

Not nearly as exciting as it would be with pics...

Sorry about the long time between reports, I currently have no internet at home, so I have to use the computers at college. Anyways,, Have all basic assembly done, putty applied and worked, just waiting on the snail mail to get my new scriber here to start the panel lines. Will post pics next week for sure.

Cheers!! Darrin

I just scored an old 1/32 HobbyCraft MiG-17F, two Cutting Edge resin cockpit and fiddly bits sets, Scale Detail drawings and some AM decal sheets for same from a co-worker...  $40.

Dude got it started and then lost interest in fixing the kit's inaccuracies...  his loss, my win.

Okay I have no pictures yet as I have to get a new laptop at the end of the month and also I have no camera either. I have taken pictures on my phone of the progress but cant seem to move them from Flickr. So I will tell you what Ive done. So far Im still doing the cockpit as I started only last week due to moving to a new apartment. The model is the Mig29UB. in 1/32 it's the Revell kit I have so far scratchbuilt the sidewalls for the cockpit and have sanded away the detali on the sides that was provided as it was very soft and no good for the scale. I have added quite a lot of detail as the Mig 29 has quite a busy cockpit, I will do my best to get pictures up asap. Just an update as I am still part of this but have been really busy so just so you know I didnt drop out or anything.

I did get some painting done this weekend.

I read somewhere that the Soviets didn't start camo until the 70's so I decided to go with a NMF. I had some Rustoleum polished aluminum, but thinned it a little too much in the ab, so I've been touching it up by hand....

Yes, it does. All this "you gotta go to work today" stuff really cuts into the modelling time too Bang Head

I would like to enter with a Mig 19- 1/72 from Bilek.

Interested in seeing that one as well. I have Italeri's re-boxing of the Bilek Su-22 lined up for this GB and it looks good on the sprues. Yes

I have that same Farmer. Just bought it on ebay. Can I join too?

I'm surprised you're having problems with the ejection seat, mine fit quite nicely.

I got an aftermarket ejection seat, so I have to scratch build the rear cockpit bulkhead (or else use the 'tabs' off the kit seat.

No pressure, Winetanker! I haven't ventured much further than my pictures show so I haven't experienced much poor fit yet.  I'm surprised you're having problems with the ejection seat, mine fit quite nicely. However, I'm sure I'll encounter a problem or two down the road, otherwise it wouldnt be a true Revell kit.

What I've started is the Revell 1/48 MiG-21 PF. Seems like a nice kit, same one Winetanker is building I believe. Not a lot of detail but I added some decals to the IP to fill in some of the dead space.

Yep, that looks like the same kit. Now I'm feeling the pressureSad

Have you assembled the ext fuel tank yet??? The tailcone fit in my kit is HORRIBLE. But everything else doesn't seem too bad.

I completed and painted the ejection seat but still have a minor fitting problem with itHmm
