I havent been here long enough so I never got used to the previous format but I do feel that it seemed to be more easy on the eyes. The white definitely does bother me and creates a form of tunnel vision. After closing the page and leaving my desk every evening it takes a few seconds before the wash fades away and i have my vision back. lol...

Maybe an option for us to individually choose a color panel related to a theme most of us build? For example RLM, US Army or Navy colors?

The white backgound doesn't bother me as much as the fact that I can't follow/subscribe to my favorite threads, even after clicking on the suscribe and favorite tabs, and messaging the guy who posted the announcement about the upcoming change(my profile doesn't indicate that I even sent him a message). I HATE it.

I believe the old adage

"If it ain't broke don't fix it"!!!

I'll hold off on judgement until they iron out the bugs!!

Two weeks later and the white still sucks in a most epic fashion. But it's "here to stay" so I hear despite how much we hate it. Glad someone is litening to there users.

Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try another message to state your case.  You might find some help by calling their customer service line.  I had an issue after re-newing my subscription where they had an old address associated with my account and it blocked me from entering.  Lady on the phone fixed it right up.  Couldn't hurt to try that.  =]

I'm mostly over the format and functionality of the new site.  I suppose we'll all get used to it, but this white is still just too white.

My subscriber only content is still locked out. Anybody else has this issue?

I shot Aaron Skinner a PM over a week ago regarding this but have yet to get a response.

I just went to my messages and there is no record of my PM to Aaron. I wonder if he ever received it?

Hello!

Just got back from the mountains (vacation) and here we have the new forum. As usual, some features don't work or don't work like they should. OK, this is normal, and expected. Doing things that were usually done, easily and effectively is now harder. That's normal and expected, too. We will cope with it, put some amount of work in it (fixing the bugs, learning) and move on. So those are the costs. What are the benefits of "The Change"? Tim, Aaron - could you please point that out to us? Because I'm wondering - is it worth it? Like the old folks always say - if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Of all things, I wish the "Your discussions" function would work like before. The new way would also be OK, but as an option.

Thanks for reading, and have a nice day

Paweł

I have been enjoying the new layout.  granted it did look weird on my phone for a bit, but once I refreshed it, it refrmatted just fine.  Still toying around with it,  but it looks nice to me.

I like the white background a lot better than that awful tan, and the webpage seems to work a bit better on my old desktop.

Maybe it's just me, but the white doesn't seem as overwhelming now. Perhaps I am just getting used to it more.

Yeah, forum navigation seems to be at least three steps backwards compared to the last two iterations of the site forum....

I am very much in Infantry phase with the changes here... Wink

But those of us in USAF CE build better tents with floors, individual rooms, showers, and cable, too.

Most of my forum activity is done with my iPhone as I'm rarely in close proximity to my laptop!  The search function doesnt seem to allow me to search for specific items in the forums when I'm viewing on my phone.  For instance, on my phone, if I did a fourm search for "Tamiya acrylic wash", I received a nice itemized list of forum posts that in some capacity dealt with Tamiya acrylics washes.  Now, I get no forum hits, only FSM type articles which are great but sometimes not as specific as I need them to be.  Im sure theres a simple solution and I'm just missing it.  Other than that, I'm ok with the new format.

1.  Really..  That is not good IMO.

2.  See number 1.:)

And losing these two things were offset by a larger white space.  Color me underwhelmed.

I use Firefox and Win10.  Works just fine for me.

I have to say that I am not warming up to it for two reasons:

1.  How do I following threads I posted in but did not start?

2.  Can't seem to find the search forum button

Of course I just "upgraded" to Win10 so maybe this is all too much for these old eyes....

John

1.) Currrently, you can not. you have to manualy search for any thread that you have participated in."Your Discussions" only shows threads that you personally have started

2.) There is a magnifying glass icon on the forum toolbar on teh right side- but it searches the entire site...

I have not upgraded to windows 10 (nor will I), and am using Safari as my browser at the moment...

In the Army the officers send the men off to die.

In the Navy the officers go off with the men to die.

In the Air Force the men send the officers off to die.

My good friend Airman Jim, in his best Memphis drawl "Yeah, but Bail, somehow they always managed to take a couple of us with them".

Guys, The new site has been live for just a few hours and we are working on issues as they arise. We appreciate your patience as we move forward. Cheers, Aaron

Will you be adding a forum for questions or problems on how to use the forums?

Forum Feedback and Error Reporting forum already exists. Aaron is over there now swatting at bats with his tennis racket (or would he say racquet?).

With a graphic design background, I am always an advocate for white space, but I agree with others who find this layout too white. To my eye, the message blocks would stand out better and be more legible against a neutral background. As for functionality, I think we'll get used to it just like the last rework several years ago. I'm sure the designers feel that the changes are an improvement, and I hope they'll take our feedback into account as they implement the new site. Mike
