The A was used during the Spanish civil war and by WW2 had be relegated to training units. I have seen no referance of it being used in combay during the war. The B was first introduce during the Spanish war as well, but of course that carried on into WW2.

This is the 72nd A i built a couple of years back with the pre war scheme that was in use right upto the start of WW2.

If you fancy going bigger, there is the Airfix 1/24th Ju 87B. I got that a while back and its a great looking kit. And Trump are supposed to be releaseing a 24th 87D.

It certainly looks nice even on the 40 year old Airfix kit. One of the guys built one for the Stuka GB i ran in 2014/15, and when i saw it, i knew i should get one.

But for now, i just look forward to some more progress on your 109 and to seeing what you will come up with next.

If you ever do a 190, I have some pics of a replica built with most of the original tooling.  In the Erickson Collection.  Don't know how much use they would be, but will send them when you get there.

Looking good so far, are you giong to leave a panel off so the engine is shown?

I'm heavily addicted to showing off any detail what so ever.  Just like my visible B-17G, Me 262, and the SBD Dauntless.   To the best of my abilities, I will try my best to display the "Gustav" without the panels to show all engine details.  As always, your guess is correct sir.  Thank you so much for the visit, read, and reply.

Earlier today, my sister in law and her family came to take us out to Ruby Tuesday for lunch.  They left after our meal and they drove back home to Ashtabula.  It's about 70 plus miles, 1 and a half hour drive.  They live in what's called the snowbelt.  beating the lake effect snow storm was their game plan.

My game plan was to watch the NFL divisional playoff game while I worked on the 109.  The best of two worlds!

I think you have the angle on those top wing radiator flaps way too high, Toshi. I've never seen them open that far. Actaually I've never seen them in an upward position ever. I usually see them modelled slightly down.

Someone please correct me here as I only know how those function by seeing them modeled in the past and I don't know what limitations in function they actually have. I just know that they look wrong on Toshi's build. Is he representing them correctly??

For historical purposes, Manning vs Brady with a Patriots win.  For actual real world possibilities, my daughters boyfriend says, (He's very savvy when it comes to NFL W/L) which makes for a convincing theory is a Arizona Cardinals vs New England Patriots.  With a Cardinals win.  So theorizes my daughters boyfriend.  I don't think Carson Palmer can play up against one of the most greatest QB's in NFL History, "Tom Brady".  

I Personally would like to just see the Panthers take home the Lombardi Trophy.  Cam Newton is playing at such a relaxed and high level.  He looks like he's just having a fun like persona as Favre used to do.  Plus the offense and defense of the Carolina Panthers are just complimenting each other.

I know, this is not a good answer.  I just happen to be one of those NFL fans that does not have a favorite team.  I like all 32 teams as each team has their star players.

On the Kingfisher, keep in mind that is a very old mold, I have it, and you are going to be challanged quite a bit on it. Mine is so bad I bought a newer version just to have enough plastic to make one kit. I'll be watching that one.

Great work Toshi, i have the BF-109F4 variant of this kit. I Hopw I can make it look almost as good as yours.

Some good advice on those radiator flaps. the position does vary from almost closed to the top one being level and on some occasions slightly raised. making some good progress Toshi.

Prior to this, my work bench was in the living room.  The dining table as well as the kitchen counter was where I assembled models.  That was fine even with Mrs. Toshi.  She's my number one supporter as well as my daughter.  

The table, Metro racks, and den was given to me as a Christmas present from Mrs. Toshi.  Here are the photos.

The 109 is in it's seam sanding stage.  I'm waiting on a Eduard canopy mask and a Tamiya spruce cutter, It should arrive today.

The new rack was given to me by my sister in law.

Lots of room for more completed models, plus with my donating my models has made space possible.

My other hobby, football cards.  I also used to collect stamps and coins of which has drastically slowed down over the years.

Dude, I love the display rack. Awesome stuff.

Now imagine a stack of unbuilt kits lined up against a full wall.  And more kits stashed in some other places around the house.  And now you have a picture of what decades old modelers' houses look like. lol.  I dont even know why Im laughing.

Good eye Brindos!  You would be correct about the top flap.  

The top flap is deflected downward with the bottom portion of the flap defected a bit further downward.   There will be a gap between the upper & lower portions

Many of us cannot stress the importance in buying good quality tools and brushes.  I have been building for almost 40 years and pretty much all the tools, and many of the brushes I use, are what I got in my first year of building.  Funny, I also still have paint that is good thats over 40 years old.  Keeping everything dry, constant temperature, and organized is the way to go.  You look to have many enjoyable years ahead of you in this hobby Toshi.

I too like the shelf, is that an entertainment center?  Scott

Upon my first kit I could only afford inexpensive tools.  But I treated them as if it were gold.  You sir are so correct, my motto in life is take care of your tools of trade and they will take care of you.  

Yes, it is.  I even remember the day my nephew purchased the entertainment shelf some twenty years ago and it's still in good condition.  With flat screen TVs the entertainment center became obsolete for my nephew.  Now it's a really nice display stand for my model kits.

To my fellow forum members,

Here's what happened to the drama of the 109.  I dropped the 109 three times, broke the engine off in two, warped the front cowling, cockpit is loose and moving around, oil cooler flaps won't go on correctly hence a huge amount of putty was used, and the landing gear's shattered.  I was at the cusp of AB the whole 109 and very excited!  

Here's what I've achieved so far.  I finally got to see what a beauty a 109 is and hence it's popularity, I have that much more experience gathered in my repetoir, and I had such a fun time building the 109.  It has so many different features from other WWII aircraft, it's just mind boggling to me and finally it just looked so cool!

I was going to throw it away.  But I still can save it and learn how to AB a German aircraft.  I've never did the whole mottle thing and there's so many paint color variations that I can learn from this kit, it makes it worth the time and money.  

So that's it for this thread.  This is my first busted model beyond repair, yet I feel ok about it.  One can only learn from experience!  The best part about this?  In six months or more, I can purchase another exact kit and build another 109 better than this one.
