Man that engine is fantastic.

I am just starting an Accurate Miniatures 1/48 TBF-1C Avenger I bought at an IPMS show.  Included in the box was a Verlinden resin engine Marked for the Avenger but it looks VERY similar to your 190.  I am going to attempt to build it similar to yours in appearence with of course American colors.  I just hafta find some referance pics somewhere but I don't know exactly what the engine brand/number would be.

Any suggestions ?

Those are amazing details in the engine and pit, specially in that small scale. Just outstanding fermis.

Amazing work fermis.  You have to have incredible patience to put in that much detail.  Your engine looks like it could start up and start belching smoke any minute now

One thing about Eduard kits, if you can overcome their over engineering or their or dimensional problems they make some stellar models. I know their quarter scale 190's have their own issues and its interesting that one of those issues is that the engine is a tad too far forward although it looks like its for different reasons in their 72nd 190's. That being said, looks like you've cleared that hurdle handily. Lovin the detail in that sucker!

The engine did not want to fit. Either the bulkhead sits a bit too far forward, or the engine mount is too long. The end of the exhausts should be right about even with the front of the panel.

(Gotta clean up that seam on the exhausts!)

I trimmed the engine mount...

Attached to the bulkhead and added some more wires.

Just a few touch ups needed on the bare wires and I can proceed!

That engine looks amazing! What did you use on the exhaust, they look very authentic!

Thanks you!

The exhausts were painted flat black, then just drybrushed with a dark brown and lighter brown. At the end, they'll get a treatment of brown & tan pastels.

That is amazing work on such a small scale. My hats off to you for being able to work so small. I just can't do it. Fantastic.

Negatory.

Got some craptastic weather and got to spend many hours at my airport, keeping the runways clean. I did get a couple hours "down time" waiting for the snow to pile up a bit. Took the 190's, got seams sanded...that's about it.

I haven't quite gotten that far yet, but a little test fitting shows the back of the exhaust stacks to be a bit over 1mm too far forward. The cowl will be wide open, so not much issue there. It does seem to fit nicely inside what little reamins of the cowl.

We shall see!

I think the gearbox on the engine should be satin black instead of blue...

Yes...it has been repainted. The ref pic I was looking at turned out to be a Russian built copy used in rebuilt warbirds.

Amazing work!!!!  where do you find wirer that small ?

Dam and then work with it.  :)

Much thanks!

The mag wires were PE...the fine wires I added in back are just fine copper wire, taken from some of the old runway/taxiway lights at my airport. Kinda fitting, to put em back into "aviational" use!

I've been looking for my penny. Seems it rolled over to your bench. To your usual standards but the engine is outstanding. As soon as I saw this was an Eduard's 190 I already had my 1st comment in my head. It was to let us know how the fit is around the cowlings particularly with the engine. The 1/48 version was a real she dog! so far it does seem any worse than getting any AM engine into a fuslege.

AdeB

Attempted this a few weeks ago...failed. Couldn't get the engine to fit.

May have to buy some over trees to replace the opened up fuselage pieces.

Your skills are obviously way better than mine young jedi Big Smile

I can already tell, from dry fitting...the engine mount is about a mm long. Nothing a little cuttin and drillin can't handle...I hope!

Thanks dudes!

Not much to show for today (spent most of the day outside)...missing sprue came in, so I got the 3rd one caught up to the others....

Dang fermis, remove the penny and I'd swear this was quarter scale or larger. Awesome work man.
