Completed Trumpeter 1:32 Junkers Ju 87B-2 Stuka

Hi Toshi

The Stuka is one of my favorite WW2 German planes a special affection Because as a young lad I grew up in Chicago and my Dad used to take us to the Chicago museam of Science and Industry.

We would would look at the Spitfire MK-1, Stuka with the red snake on the side of the fuselage as well as tour the U-505 Submarine. My Dad was a young lad when he saw the U-505 dragged from the shores of Lake Michigan to a resting berth near the museam. As many know the U-505 was completely restored to better than before glory and is now housed in its own building.

I went to 2 of the re-unions of the crew of the U-505 and have most of their autograghs on a print Robert Taylor the artist created; in fact the print hangs in my office now.

Anyway, I like the Winter camo that Trumpeter had on that instruction sheet which you had  posted but one of the posts stated you won't be doing it. Which one did you choose.?

I have a stash of the Revell 1/32nd Stuka's a couple in Hungarian markings and a couple in the "snake" on the fuselage ones. I also have a couple of the 21st Centry 1/32nd ones unbuilt in a kit format. I could part with a couple of them if you wanted. my 12 year old attempted to build one of them and stopped, claiming 1/32nd was a little too big for him at this time so we will finish it together after we finish a B-25 we are working on for a WW2 B-25 Pilot who flew 28 missions in the Pacific. The Monogram kit is frustrating and I'm tempted to trash it and use one of my Accurate Miniatures kits.

If you can share that Stuka Winter Camo I'd appreciate it

Trumpeter have also released a 32nd 87A and G and are supposed to be releeing a 24th 87D. My eyes are definatly on the A, looks like a nice kit, though with some minour fault's as the B has. I have not seen anything on the G, and as i already have a Hase 32nd G, the Trump kit is not in my sights. But i think PJ has one.

*Good job following Mrs. Toshi's idea about no weathering. Does it look good that way? Yep. Does it matter that it looks good that way? Nope.

*Do I have the HobbyTownUSA bit straight? You have a well-stocked HobbyTown 40 minutes from your house and this is the first you knew of it???? Do I read that Mrs Toshi found it and surprised you by going there??? If so, holy cow. If not, holy cow anyway, no wonder you were excited! I'll never forget my first visit to one a couple years back, which happened to be a very well-stocked one like yours. I was like a kid in a candy store. Pity it is a couple thousand miles away.

*Good move waiting for the Eduard masks. Hand trouble or not. Scratch-masking a Stuka canopy because I can would not be my idea of fun.

Yes, I've only heard of a place called Hobby Town USA.  It was Mrs. Toshi that took me there on a nice beautiful weekend.  I felt like I was 8 years old all over again.  We were supposed to go there this weekend but Mrs. Toshi caught the flu, so I've been taking care of her.

Originally, I was going to do my own mask for the Stuka.  After some frustration, it was Mrs. Toshi that recommended that I order and await for the Stuka mask.  Thanks Gerg for always following and replying on my builds, I greatly appreciate it!

Lovely looking finish Toshi. I love a nice Stuka and you have done the old girl proud. G has you covered on the exhausts, and the rest looks just fine.

And it was a good move leaving the wing racks empty given the big boy you have underneath.

As I was preparing to weather the Stuka, Mrs. Toshi took a look at it and said to leave it without weathering.  It's the first time she had ever added any input to the actual build.  Usually she'll let me do what I want with it.  

Since this was her first ever input, you'll see the Stuka completed as is.  In all honesty, I really like the "Museum" look to it.  I think it's pretty cool.  I guess that's what we men call "Woman's Intuition".
