Favorite jet fighter

The A-7 Crusader is, in my opinion at least, beautiful and was a powerful fighter. It's my favorite hands down.

F-14 Tomcat.

And anything else Grumman.

Just for your info the a-7 is called corsair II when the f-8 which looks similar is called the crusader.just sayin.

I know it's unamerican...but I've always liked the MIG 29

My two all time favorites are:

Navy & Marines: Grumman F9F Panther

USAF: Lockheed F-104 Starfighter

The Panther because when I was a pre-teen my dad would take us to his boat in Brooklyn where we could see the Panthers flying over from Floyd Bennett Field. The Starfighter simply because I thought it was the "slickest" jet of its era even if it was a bit dangerous to fly.

I am going with the F-105 Thunderchief something about it just draws me to it.

The F-105 has a unique look to it. The intakes are unusual to start with. Its long and narrow. The 1/48 I built as a kid was the F-105G with the Standard ARM and two Shrike. I totally messed-up the paint job. and then washed it off with turpentine. I sprayed it with silver spray paint, repainted the landing gear, put on the decals, and then let it have it with dullcote until it didn't shine. 

The VA at Mather field in Ca. has a F-105G parked at the entrance to the hospital.A very lg a/c.

  Ah ! But, there was a problem .I didn't want to hog the scene .I basically love all the jets .The Cutlass has always been one of them with "Big Ugly  F-4 anything " coming in second plus the Skyray and of course the A-6-E like the one my daughter flew ! Lastly the other and final one is the " Warthog " another daughter Flew.   T.B.    Oh ! almost forgot the M.E.262

Yes, the F-105. The sheer size, the huge single engine, sharply swept wings and large shark fin tail all scream power and speed, even when parked on the ramp. Especially when she is clean

in warpaint and bombed up, nothing looks more purposeful...

I never get tired of watching the end of "The Right Stuff", with the NF-104.

Aesthetically, the F-16.  Thing looks like its supersonic sitting on the tarmac.  Sentimentally, the A-7 Corsair II.  I can't even explain my affinity for it.  Especially the USAF/ANG gray on gunship camo scheme ones.

Man, that is tough.  Hard to pick just one, but I think that I need to go for the F-14.  Big, fast looking sitting still and could reach out and touch the bad guys 100 miles away.  What's not to like?  Also, who didn't want to be Maverick?

I was born in 1950, so I came of age with the Century-series fighters. They all - from the F-100 to the F-111 - hold a collective place in my memory. Who besides me remembers that the F-110 Spectre was the original Air Force designation for the Phantom II?

My choice: F-86 and F-86-D

Quite aside from the great appearance, the early day sophistication of the structural and aerodynamic challenges required to make it go like stink, were huge obstacles to overcome.

Some of the highest airspeeds of the era, swept wings, leading edge slats, etc, made it so complex for a new design. Factor in they had to make it go slow as well, for approaches and landings.

Some are more beautiful, but the -86 was one of them that led the technological path. Love the old bugger.

I have to agree with the guys who said F-4 Phantom.  When I grew up, it was the biggest, baddest fighter on the block.  It was a brutal, hulking monster that screamed "I'm a badass, get outta my way!"

The F-15 could deliver way better than the F-4, but the F-4 has more personality.

Navy - F 14 Tomcat 

Marines - F/A-18 Hornet

Very good choice in aircraft and squadron.  I did two years with the 5th F.I.S  during their F-106/F-15 transition period.

I'll add one more to my list, the F-89 Scorpion.
