Decided to build the old P-61. I was 9 when it came out and one of my friends built it but it gave him a lot of trouble.i started building it and the tooling is showing its age.Oh well,putty work will be necessary.
O, nice, i'll be keeping an eye on this. I don't do 48th usually, but i was given this kit by a good friend. Looking forward to seeing how it builds.

With care, patience, and a lot of fiddling around, it can turn out to be a decent model- Not for beginners, though.

Yeah guys it should be interesting.The interior plate fit very well into the fuselage sides.I have heard that this kit has fit issues but I do think it should build into a cool plane.
I built this one for the last time about a decade ago (built a couple of times when I was far younger). The only real fit issues I recall were in the areas of the canopy pieces. There might have been some issues with the booms attaching to the wings, but that's also a problem we see with P-38 kits.
God bless you. I built one of these things a long time ago and had alot of issues with it. It's not to say that you won't kick this things tail though. Will be keepin' my eye on this one.

Puttied,sanded and used my seam checker gray to deal with the seams.

You'll also find about a 1/16th step between the top fuselage and canopy (front and rear). The canopy also has a different contour from the fuselage.

Since a lot of weight will be needed to prevent tail sitting.I will forgo the radar detail and fill the larger nose cone with lead bird shot affixed with epoxy.
Devcon 5 min epoxy.Used it for years with no issues.
Philo, if its not too late, I've got one of these in a bag if you need extra parts.

Thanks!I was thiinking of painting it silver followed by airbrushing thinned black paint or Tamiya Smoke to simulate paint wear.
Had to put it in the vice to mount up the port wing and set the dihederal.
