Here is some further progress.  The wings are not fully painted yet as their supposed to be painted white.  The rest of the F-104G still needs to have the fueselage worked on.  Thank you for stopping by!

JOE RIX

Very good looking progress Toshi. I'm curious, What putty have you been using lately? I have not followed along on your builds as diligently as I'd like so I'm sorry if I missed it somewhere along the way.

P.S. I addressed your questions concerning my Badger 105 in my Corsair WIP.

Thank you sir, this kit needs a lot of TLC.  But that's ok.  I've been spoiled building Zoukei Mura, Tamiya, Kitty Hawk, and Trumpeter kits.  After careful evaluation, it's really all about the modeler and how the modeler can overcome any obstacles.

With that statement, I still have to return to my first love, Monogram/Revell! I mentioned Monogram, although their not around any more being bought  out by Revell, that was my favorite brand, Monogram.  Revell came in a close second.  It's very dear to my heart as I built Monogram and Revell kits as a 8 year old boy!  I appolagize for the off subject paragraphs.

As for the type of putty?  I tried milliput, bondo, Squadron, Testors, and a few other products.  I always came back to Tamiya white.  I'm biased, I love everything that's Tamiya.  Tamiya white is my choice, it's lacquer based and very easy to dry quickly as the lacquer evaporates instantly.  It's also very easy to mold, it dries quickly due to the lacquer content, and sanding is a breeze.  Once cured, the adhesion properties are incredible!

Thank you JOE RIX my friend, you've always given me the support in my builds and I'm so greatful for that.

That looks like a really nice room to make models. it has nice big windows. My model room is in the basement. What room are you working in?

I'm in the Den, this use to be Mrs. Toshi office room.  She moved out of the den and bought me a bunch of tables.  This became my model shop.  LOL!  I'll take some photos for you.

How many airplanes are hanging from your ceiling?????  Also, how many airplanes have you built??

JK

There are 12 aircrafts hanging on the ceiling.  The Kyushu Shinden was kit #50, which makes the F-104G #51.  #52 will be the F-22 Raptor.  Thank you for asking these questions.  I so enjoy the back and forth discussion in regards to our hobby.  Thank you for the visit!

Looking good!! I think that when I was a kid The Museum of Science and Industry In Chicago had one of those airplanes hanging from the ceiling. I could never figure out how on earth that airplane with the little wings could possibly fly? I still don't get it.

Thank you JohnnyK!  I know, I was shocked to see how stubby the wings are.  I don't get it either.  LOL!

Here is what I did for today.  I had to add more putty to the tail section, I'll let it dry and sand the tail section tomorrow.  As I reiterated; "Lots of putty, lots of sanding".  Thank you forum members for the visit!

To reflect on a couple of posts in this thread, first off, nice work so far Toshi.  Go Canadian markings.  I'm a little biased.  If you do go Canadian, sand off the IR sensor (raised nub in front of the front windscreen) as RCAF CF-104's didn't have these sensors.  All RCAF Starfighters had the Lockheed C2 seats. The kit seat is an abomination.  Do yourself a favour, if you can and if you wish.  With the large canopy glass, everything in the cockpit is quite visible.  Get an aftermarket seat.  Trust me.  I've built two of these kits.

A friend of mine flew Starfighters in Germany of the 50 or so aircraft he has in his pilot's log books (Spitfire, Mustang, Corsair, Warhawk, Vampire, Sabre, etc), Des said the Starfighter was his favourite; hands down.  He said it wasn't a hard aircraft to fly.  You just had to be thinking at least a minute ahead.

Keep up the good work!

Mike

Thank you and thank you for sharing.  Those are great tips for the Canadian F-104G. I will build it as such!

Cool subject Toshi. And that cockpit looks simply incredible. Super nice work. And you building space resembles what many of us have in our own homes. Pretty funny.

BK

Thank you my friend!  That's the cockpits third incarnation.  LOL! I figured most modelers would have their work station in the basement or a spare room.  Thanks for the visit.

Hey There Toshi. Very cool subject the F-104. Your off to your usual fine work I see.

I regret that I am of very little help when it comes to NMF's. I've tried Alclad and I messed up my first attempt, my bad, and then on my most recent and second try of Alclad Aircraft Aluminum the paint came off when masked. I was quite confused as I did everything by the book. Research revealed that apparently Alclad punched out a defective batch of Aircraft aluminum. So, that P-47 has been set aside until such time I get motivated to strip and reapply with better Alclad.

Good Luck on your current endeavors. Joe

Yes I agree that it is a cool subject.  A bit odd yet the F-104G has nice lines.  Thank you for the Alclad information.  I greatly appreciate it, and thanks for following.

Your lawn dart... er, I mean F-104 (lol) is looking pretty good already. I agree with the others, that pit is well done.

Thanks, I worked all day messing around with the cockpit.  That's like the third incarnation.  Thank you for the visit!

Interesting subject Toshi. You should look into using Alclad for your natural metal finishes, if not this one, your next. You won't be disappointed.

Sorry about the late response.  I do agree with you that this is a interesting subject.  I will look into Alclad on my next NMF build.  Thank you for the tip my friend!
