Thanks, Doug. I either didn't realize or had forgotten that rectangular styrene strips are available in such small cross sections.

Will have to get some to augment my scratch styrene inventory for sure. :)

Actually I believe they are here in Atlanta. Every time I've used , shipping is fairly reasonable and fast.

Well, my wife is out of town for a few days so I get some me time... Got a bit more done today...

Got the under surfaces about done, There is a bit more to do but not until later in the build.

Put a starter coat of 71 on just to add to the shadow effect later.

The first coat of white is applied...

And some gloss... The gloss darkens the white and the 71 starts to show through... That's why I applied it first. Successive  coats of careful shaded white will (or should) create the shadow effect I want (I hope). Well I'll let that dry before going any further...Take care all...

You're paint job looks awesome, and it's just the very beginning. I hope to learn about controlling and working with paint opacity and layer thickness someday.

Yeah, I've typed in "link" a time or two and wondered why I didn't get the right site. lol... Hope you find what you need Greg. All in all its a pretty good site for most tools and supplies. Not so much for kits, but from time to time they do have some good buys on kits. Another good site is  scalehobbyist.com  They have some good buys on kits and such.

OK all some more progress to report...

After "Paneling" touching up each individual panel with a bite more white wash, I've decided to begin decals. I know we usually wait until paint is completed but after looking at photos of actual aircraft there is quite a lot of over spray on the national markings and even an attempt to spray white wash directly in the black of the crosses. Not enough to obscure but an attempt to tone down the stark contrast?

I know I still have the splotches of green to apply but again figured that they would have been applied  with preservation of the aircraft markings in mind, maybe aside from the stenciling which was not visible in photos.

Finishing up on the highlighting and "dirtying" of the panel and rivet lines. I personally don't like trying to do the entire aircraft at one time, and opt to do a section at a time.

And here she is pretty much finished  with the highlighting and detailing on the main areas. After this sets up I will begin applying the green splotching. This will not be mottling but heavy defined "spots". Thanks all! More later!

 Flat out impressive!!!  That folks is how you make an inexpensive but not bad kit as good or better than the ones that cost a bunch more!  I have a whole slug (or gob, or bunch, or crapload) of the Hobbycraft 109s and a couple of Hasegawas in the stash and that inspires me to break em out!!

 Raising the bar a couple of notches with these builds so far!  I gotta get out of the blocks on mine!

I finally was able to start on the Revell 1/32 G6. I have been going thru the pages here and is just too many fantastic builds to single out and comment about. The talent and skill in these pages is simply outstanding.

Looking good, PJ, nice start! I recently got the new Erla-version from Revel, they acted on feedback from the earlier G-6, so I'm most interested to have a go (but not this year, the roster is still too full!)

Molded details on the seat were removed with a flat blade on the top seat part and will be replaced with ones from Eduard

and an oval Dremel burring bit on the curved bottom seat bucket

Shot the pit RLM66 and gave it a coat of Future for the upcoming oil washes. I'm waiting on some placard decals to dress up the area. Thinking about adding some wiring here and there along with the foot pedal straps.

Thanks TB. I also grabbed the FW 190F-8 and it looks pretty impressive with a complete engine to boot.

Don't know what happened to the rest of the original post but had to break it down into a second post. Everything loaded but the last pictures and comments failed to make it to the final version.

I noticed! The F-8, is that an all-new tool as well? There was one some years back but I believe it was an old-tool Hasegawa reboxed, so I sold it on...

No this is brand new tooling from ROG and a 1/32 beauty for $26. The pit is ok but will benefit from a resin one but just OOB is a looker. They also released a new tooled Spit Mk.II that is gorgeous. I grabbed them both.

Thanks! I heard about the Spit II -- they've really stepped up to the plate on this round of issues! I'll have a look for a review of the FW, it sounds excellent!

I'm up for this. I just started scale model building again, having not built any models since I was probably 10. I'm finishing up a 1/144 Revell Space Shuttle at the moment, and as soon as that finishes I can get started on this  1/72 Airfix Bf109G-6.

PJ.  You will like the G-6 , I built it a little while back and was impressed with the whole process. I also have the "K" in stash , but have not yet got my hands on the new 190. LHS has 2 coming in for me. Can't wait to get them. Your review is right on about the pit area. Not bad at all OOB but does lend itself readily to some resin and or PE. Looking forward to your progress. Do you have a particular build in mind? That is pilot, Group,  iD?... (sorry if I missed)

The included decals and scheme for Franz Dorr's mount looks pretty good (128 kills)  so I will go with the included decals.

I actually started in 1/32 way back when but went down to 1/48 and now I seem to be at 1/72 in some subjects, 1/48 at most and 1/32 in a few.  

Nice start PJ. Really good job on those exhaust.
