Castel, looks like mixing all those greens worked out well.  Kind of makes me think of Bob Ross for some reason...

Brandon that paint job certainly is eye-catching, looking forward to seeing the decals on it.

Backswampcub sorry to hear you're having problems with the kit.  I've never built a Roden kit so I don't really know how they are generally, but I've built some terrible kits.  I'm looking forward to seeing pics when you get them.

Keyda your Voodoo is looking good!  The filling and sanding is my least favorite part of the hobby, hopefully it won't be too bad for you.

Castelnuovo - I'd always assumed the backseat faced backward in these. Learned something new!

I thought it would face backward if there is a rear machinegun mount, but if you look at this video it seems that the machinegunnere just turns around in his seat.

Yeah it was a coincidence that I got the 1/48 ICM Po-2 about an hour after I saw your post. I'm considering getting the resin figures for it, but not sure I can tackle painting faces, much less female faces.

Well here are some pics. They start further into the build then I wanted but my phone gave up the ghost and took a lot of pics with it. So I started taking pics with new phone as I was getting ready to join the fuselage.

Wow! Despite the issues you're having with the kit you're doing a great job. I love all the wiring you put in around the radio racks

I have fixed the fit at the front and the airscoop. I will post the pics as for now I am on a standstill on this as I will need aftermarket landing gear. The kit front gear broke off and flew into the wild blue yonder. I will also need decals as the kit decals are terrable. I will have to wait on these expenses as I am out of work for a time.

Bob I would like to join in with a monogram 1/48 Kingfisher OS2U-3.  I have an older "high tech" version that includes PE cockpit I am itching to get into. Let me know if I am clear for takeoff.

All right Jack, you are good to go. I got you on the roster. I"m looking forward to seeing how you tackle this kit. I picked it up at an antique store a few months ago and it looks really nice.

I'm off into the vast night sky with my 1/48 GWH Fw 189 A-1 Nachtjager.  This is a gem of a kit and even comes with an 8x10 print worthy of framing.  There’s no doubt this was an effective means of recon.  But, I was recently reading "Wings of the Luftwaffe" by Eric Brown who flew one for the RAE after the war.  He said surprisingly the angled glass created visual impairments by distorting the forward field of view making landing and flying in bad weather very difficult.  Not what I would have thought at all.

That looks like a very cool kit. And that is A LOT of windows to mask. Good thing for precut masks. Looking forward to seeing this one.

Man, there is some great work going on here.  Really enjoying seeing the builds!

Well, here are some pics of the RF-4B.  I know, it's an old kit, and yes...boy does it have issues..but I love these old kits.  Embarrassed

The fit was pretty good until I got to the fuselage.  As you can see from the pics, it required a lot of clamps.  LOL!  I think I'm going to just glue the canopies on instead of the flemsy open and close option.  It will look better I think.  I,ve dipped the canopies in some Future and they are drying now.  As you can see from the one pic..FLASH CENTRAL!!!!  So a lot of time is being taken up for sanding and scraping.  LOL!

Enjoy!

That is a lot of clamps indeed.  But, your progress looks great!

Lot of clamps, lot of flash...yep, that's an old Monogram kit all right. I love those kits too, just a little bit of extra love and they can really shine.

LO!  A lot of love...that's good way to put it.  It will be massive when it's done.  I might be heading to Lowes today to get more lumber to make more shelves for the room.  She's going to take up a good portion of one of my 4 foot shelves!!

Well, it is standing on its feet...sort of. The asembly of the skis was quite a fidly affair and either I installed them in a bit off position or they might have moved while drying, the plane is visibly tilted to its left side Sad. Not very visible on this picture but if you look at it frontaly then it is quite visible.

The engine cover is supposed to be gray but it looks a bit too plasticky, maybe I'll paint it metalic gray.

Either way, here it is...

Looking good so far Keavdog!  Filling and sandind is my least favorite part of the hobby, so I wish you luck with that.

Castel, that's too bad about the skis leaning.  And I can see what you mean about the engine cover.  Maybe some weathering or chipping could help a little?

So I was looking at my Academy F-5E Lightning kit, and was looking at the cockpit. The details look OK, so I pulled out a Hasegawa P-38 kit, just to do a comparison. The Hasegawa kit has better details and I was going to try some scratch building but as I was digging through it I found a True Details cockpit that the previous owner must have put in the box. Best part is, the True Details set is designed for the Academy kit! So it looks like I won't have to do any scratch building, and I get to use the good Hasegawa cockpit for its own kit. Score!

Well, working on the missiles for my MiG-21R. Eduard says two Atolls was the standard loadout, but the missiles included with the kit have solid plastic seeker heads, and painting them just doesn't look good to my eye, so I decided to fix them.

Step 1: Drill out the front of the missiles.

Untitled

Step 2: paint the iterior flat black, and then fill with Bondic and harden it using the UV light.

Untitled

Step 3: Admire your work.

Thanks, Brandon. It's a pretty good solution for making bulbous clear light lenses, too, like what you see on the rudders of Spitfires and that sort of thing. Nice to have, especially since the kitmakers usually just mold them solid.

I love the idea.  Always hated just painting the ends of those sidewinders black!
