Some work done here. Now the wireing out of stretched sprue...

And a question: I googled images for PO-2 to help me with were do the wires go. I have noticed that some have somewhat different rigging, an extra wire or it is attached at a different place. Is it common that the same airplane has somewhat different rigging?

The left leaning is clearly visible here Sad

Castel I see your chellenge with the lean but other than that your PO2 is looking really good. I found time over the last week to crack open my Kingfisher so here are some progress pics. I decided to black base the pit to give the tchnique a try and I found it provided pretty good results with nominal effort. I might do a bit more weathering before I attache the canopy/ies. The fit looks good with most of the mismatching on the bottom of the pontoons so I am happy with that. I am also trying PE parts for the first time. The gun sights were a fun challenge LOL.

Castel, I can see what you mean about the tilting.  I'm not sure if there's some way to fix that with some superglue in an inconspicuous place and resting it against something so that it dries in the proper position.  I can sometimes get that to work for me of the piece is still kind of wobbly.  Unfortunately I don't have an answer about the rigging, I've never done a biplane yet so hopefully someone else can answer that for you.

Jack that's looking great!  PE can go either way with me.  I'm usually pretty good at it unless there is a lot of bending involved.

castel, nice job there. Pity about the tilt, maybe you could put it on a base with more snow packed under one side.

Bish thats brilliant solution on the snow packing under one side for the PO2!

I built a 1/72 Fisher for Brandon's Floats and Boats group build and I was wanting to try one in 1/48. I got the glass on last night and will be back with some updates in a few days.

Thanks Bish. Yes, I thought about putting it in some kind of diorama. This is the thing with airplanes vs land vehicles, you can't just hide mistakes with damage, dirt, equipment etc Smile

The box art for that Monogram KF is still one of my favorites!

Well, this is all I can do with this guy. There are some different shades of green as I used different brush, but there you go...I guess Russians didn't particularly care about colour coordination Smile

Castel, that is a gem of a build. Yes

I like the Russian Green, nice change from the usual drab shades associated with military subjects.

Jack

Awesome finish! I really like the variations of green, they help give it a lot of character. Do you have a preference for the front page?

Thank you for the kind comments, gentlemen, very encouraging and motivating. Silenbob33, the 4th photo would be good for the front page.

I've finally made enough progress to post something.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I found a True Details cockpit that I decided to use.  Finally got everything painted.

And here it is all together

I think it's been about a month since I've worked on the Voodoo.  Been busy working on the Camaro and all her parts.  The weather has turned a bit crumby, so I had the oppurtunity to sit down at the bench for a bit.  Not a whole lot done, but I did get some areas masked off, and I'm just about ready to throw some primer on things to see what else still needs work.

Looking good on the Voodoo Keyda. The forum was a bit quiet so I thought I would check in with some additional progress pics of the Kingfisher. I bought a Sotar AB back at the IPMS nationals show as there was a vendor there selling them for around $70. I am ashamed to say last night was the first time I got to try it and any issues were strictly on me as this AB has much better capabilities than the NEO I have been using forever now. I struggled a bit with the paint flow regulator but figured it out after I was done of course! Anyhow thumbs up on the Sotar and I will check back after I add the bark blue and some decals.

Looks good Jacknewbill!  I've always liked that paint scheme.  I have a Kingfisher in the stash, as well as a TBM Avenger I'm going to paint that way.

I've hit a milestone with the Voodoo, primer!  Lol.  It's a milestone for me anyway, and a pleasant one at that.  I usually find a massive amount of flaws that I didn't see before primer that need to be taken care of.  But this time it's actually not that bad.  There are still areas that need attention, but not as many as usual.  I haven't primed the bottom yet either, so I suppose I shouldn't count my chickens!

I also put some paint on the exhaust tubes.  This is the first time I've played around with MM Metalizer with the airbrush trying to do exhaust.  It's time for me to start branching out, and trying different things.  I look at some past builds, and I know I can do better if I just put the effort in.  This Voodoo is actually a replacement for a very poor looking one I did a few years back.

The rest of the fiddly bits.

Hey in case you fans of the Hawk U-2A/C didn’t hear, AFV Club of all people are doing a new U-2A in 1/48:

I regretted not buying the Cutting Edge detail sets, but can look forward to a more modern tooling!

I’m sure a U-2C and others will be forthcoming.  Hope they do the two seater!

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Keyda, looks like a lot of good progress on your Voodoo.  I always find a bunch of problems when I spray it and no matter how many times I look at it, I will always find more once I have a few layers on paint on.

I'm really enjoying your Kingfisher Jack.  Someday I might have to a nicer airbrush than the off-brand one I bought off of Amazon a few years ago.

Real G that looks really cool!  Guess I'd better start saving up now...

Some more progress on the Voodoo today.  Getting closer to the finish line now.

Camo gray underside painted.

First layer of camo dark tan.

Medium green.

And finally dark green, and a gloss coat.

Fiddly bits.
