Ok, two weeks in, this is where I'm at on my F-15E.  This cockpit took a lot less time than my A-10 which is strange as there is 2, but it turned out better than I could have ever hoped for my second model.  All done in MM enamels, no add-ons, just the best I could do with some small brushes and toothpicks.

edit: sorry I couldn't get any better pictures my camera just wasn't made for extreme close up!

Anthony, those are some fine lookin' 'pits.  If that's the kind of work we can expect from you, all of us are in for a treat!

As far as I know, the Vihuri was not going to be upgunned.  I'm not even certain which mark of the Mosquito it was going to be based on.  Information on this one is very hard to come by.

Thaks for the kind words guys, it's always appreciated!  And to answer your questions B:

1: No thinner for anything brushed on, just straight enamel.  The only thinning is on the base colors which I airbrushed on.

2: For the few pieces I actually used brushes on, they were a Model Expo Inc. 18/0 spotter(sable) and an Atlas Brush Co. 00(synthetic) and those were only used on a couple of dials.  Everything else was done with toothpicks.

3: 100% direct paint application and no drybrushing as I am still new to a lot of this and haven't built up the confidence to try drybrushing!

No new pictures yet.  Maybe tomorrow or Sunday when my work week ends.  But I have inserted the cockpit into the plane and have sprayed my primer and the panel lines on the body.  I finished the engines last night (my 1st experience with MM Metallizer and it went great!)  Next up will be a light coat of the main color (hopefully Mon or Tue) and then onto the main landing gear.  Will have more pics soon!

Hey I would like to get in on this one also.  I have couple of kits that fit the bill, all three versions of the Gekko, a he129 b-1, And the Ki-45 nick by Hasegawa. not sure which one I'll do yet, all suggestions welcome

....and I've finally made up my mind on what I'm going to do for this GB. Count me in with an Eduard 1/72 Me410.

excellent choice! the Me 410 is a neat looking bird. have an Italarie <sp> in the stash.

Very nice work on yours, John!  I'm pretty sure the Eduard kit is the re-boxed fine-molds kit, and I was amazed to see what extras they threw in, like a sweet-lookin' decal sheet, lots of PE, and a full resin 'pit & gun bay. She's gonna be a lot of work, but worth it I'm sure. If she turns out half as nice as yours, I'll be a happy guy!

Here's an update on my Revell P-38J:

Wow, this kit sure does humble you.  I've spent ALOT of time puttying and sanding.  Most of my trouble was with the nose.  The cone & gun bay doors just don't fit together.  I had to load tons of putty to make them flush.  The canopy also didn't fit well, but a little putty fixed it.  If anyone builds this kit, I recommend attaching the canopy prior to painting your aircraft.

This is my first attempt at a natural metal finish.  I primed the lightning with Mr. Surfacer 1000.  The NMF is white aluminum by Alclad II.  I taped a few panels off & shot them with Duraluminum for contrast.  I hope to shoot the anti-glare paint on the nose & twin booms tonite.

White Aluminum ? I did not know they had that.   It looks good, and I wonder what it looks like compared to Alclads regular Aluminum ?

The P-38 is one of my all time favorite fighters of WWII. I have the 1/72 MPC lightning in my stash but I admit I'm afraid to start it. You have mirrored what EVERONE seems to say about building this aircraft. Maybe I'll give it a go after I improve my skills a little more.

I look forward to seeing more pictures of your progress.
