LOL... You're much more forgiving than my former Sergeant Major was at the last St.Barbara's Dine-out... Thought he was gonna have a blow-by... Had I worn Dress Blues, I woulda gone broke from payin' fines in Mess, lol... There were still some points of order from the Mess, and the Vice didn't go easy on me because of the chair, lol.. So I didn't get away unscathed...The other Senior NCOs had fun at my expense as well...
The beard comes off on a semi-regular basis, though. I don't grow a beard as much as I just don't shave.. I hate shaving, always have.
As for barbers, there truly isn't one in this whole damn town, just frikin' hair salons, and I ain't steppin' foot into a place that doesn't have anyone who knows what a High & Tight is.. I gotta drive 15 miles to get to one, and will... When I get outta the wheelchair, I'll trade up to a barber chair, lol... Smeagol however, still needs a frikkin' haircut... Looks like a freakin' extra from a Wayne's World movie... 'Course, he ain't NEAR as bad as the college-clowns around here at ISU.. I swear, they had to have either lost bets or are just tryin' to get back at their parents... Spiky purple mohawks and more facial metal that King Tut's sarcophagus... If dumb was dirt, those gomers could cover an acre apiece...
Anyway, various coiffurs aside, this looks like a pretty successful GB for the Smeaglet, and I'm in for next year too, Lord willin' an' th' creek don't rise... Bein' a relatively new member, I still can't get over how great folks are around here... Not only with the SSGB, but in general... I've needed help for parts an' instructions, decals, and have had folks from all over (even Europe) send me more than what I asked for (sometimes, even a whole kit), with nary a request for payment, not even shipping costs, just the request to "pass it forward" when I get the chance, which I gladly did (even my precious 1/48th scale figures) on several occasions...
I'm glad there's forums like this one, and without it, modeling would still be a very solitary thing for me. I never got to travel to many shows and swap meets, so seeing other's work and being able to correspond with them is immeasurable in it's value to me... Beats hell outta just lookin' at a magazine spread...
Sorry I got soooo wordy, but then again, I got nuthin' else to do right now while some paint dries on m' latest howitzer build...
Here's wishin' y'all a Happy New Year now...
