Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09-7/1/09)

 Thanks Jmart. It took more time cleaning up than actually painting the fig. It was fun painting once I got started.

 The Buffalo is finished just need to let the finish on the base dry before startig the ground work. Took a couple of pics without any ground work or the crewman.

 I will be adding a wash to the floor then it will be finished

stik, looks like you're off to a fine start on your 'cobra. The finish you've given it really makes the detail pop!

Mobious, man what can I say?! That is a stunning build! The camo is outstanding, especially the way you blended the weathering into the different colors. The uniformity looks perfect from where I sit. Nice work on the figure too. It'll look great displayed with your Buffalo. Very nicely done!

So what exactly do you have planned for that groundwork?

 Stick man, ruddratt, mg.mikael thanks for the comments. Painting the "Flying Dutchman" made up for all the mistakes I made on this build. As for the groundwork, Really nothing fancy. Just a place for the Buffalo to roam. Thanks again for checking in and the comments, they are greatly appreciated everyone.

 Thanks Warhammer, Most of the problems occurred during painting. I am responsible for all of my mistakes, at least that's what the judge told me! Actually they weren't mistakes as much as learning what works and doesn't. I thought I'd experiment with laquer based clear coats for the decals, that was a bad idear. I would have been better off with nothing rather than the laquer gloss coat. I was on the wastebasket watch for a couple hours. It still has problem areas, but overall I have learned something(actually a couple things) from this one. Thanks for the comments and checking in. I did manage to get some ground work done. Everything is in place and just letting it dry before removing the masking tape around the borders. A light dusting with pastels and should have some pics up later this evening if the batteries hold out.

 Wheel as impatient as I am, I began lifting the tape immediately after the paint hit the tarmac, so to speak. Lifted the ground work a little around the front edge. Pressed it back down but I have my doubts. Here are a couple of pics...

 An interesting note due to Japanese air superiority in both quality and quanity of aircraft, a few of the Dutch pilots would revert to ramming Japenese aircraft. Hmmm?

I had alot of fun with this build and I'm planning on building another Buffalo. An F2A-3 in service with VMF221. I believe it wouldn't qualify for this GB though.

Mobious: She's a beaut'! Your Buffalo came out stunning, those problems you had with filters simply vanished. Heck I can't even tell their were any problems if you didn't mention them. Congrats on finishing your build and on having the first completed build for the Lend-Lease GB. Lookin' forward to your DUKW.

 Hey mg.mikael thanks for the comments. Will have to be rearranging The Bunker in order to accomodate an additional bench for my son. Looking forward to his first completed aircraft. I think he's talking about a P38. One of my favorite aircraft.

Ok you guys It's 11:12 PM here an I'm sleepy so i'll make this fast. There's a lot of parts in this kit., here's some of my progress work.

The cab and bed are next.

finished! DML m4 sherman in Soviet use.

added some stowage was thinking about adding alot more but looking over real pictures of soviet shermans they did not carry to much stowage so i alted to the lesser a few ammo boxes and also added the chain. 

mpkev31b: Nice looking Soviet Sherman! The decals look great and I love the track weathering. Only thing that could make the tracks look better, is some dry-brushing of steel in order to show a more used vehicle, other then that the tracks look great. 

 I'd also like to suggest that you use a wash in your weathering process of armor. Your already using pastels which is great, but a burnt umber wash could really make the detail stand out. By the way, now that you finished your build you can claim the badge you earned.

thanks man, i took some advice from some of the guys in the armor section will end up chaining some things around on this. as well ad im makeing a diorama with the sherman on the eastern front. 

A bit of progress on my P-39 over the weekend. I painted and added all the armament in the nose. The wings are glued together but not yet sanded to remove any seams. I used them in these pics to hold the fuselage halves together for the pics.

These are just "placement" pics... most is not yet glued in place.

It sure is quiet, where is everyone? Because it seems dead quiet around here, and no one seems to be chattin'. Anyways......

mpkev31B: Since you finished your Lend-Lease Sherman you can claim your badge. By the way, just because you finished doesn't mean you have to dissapear, you're welcome to still hang out here and comment on fellow modelers builds.

 Stikpusher, looking forward to seeing progress pics on the Aircobra. Heck, I had to pick one up. I'd no idea they were used by so many nationalities. It seems they were very popular with Soviets due to the heavy firepower. 

 mg.mikael, started on the DUKW. Not alot accomplished. Got the molded on intake screens removed and the one side finished up. A tedious amount of work involved with that little project, but I think it will pay off in the After Action Reports. Anyway, I'll post some pics when I've more done.
