Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09-7/1/09)

Nice DUKW Mobious! I really like it.

I got vrey little done this weekend on the Sherman. I just put the lights on and all the guards for them and the siren.

Mobious: That DUKW is just plain beautiful!! Love the color shading, it really makes your build stand out and look stunning! I also like the subtle weathering leading up the sides. Now I just have a two questions.......you gonna make a base for this amazing build? And are you gonna put any cargo in the back, like supplies, weapons, etc.?

stick man: When are you going to start work on that Achilles?

 mg. mikael, How did you know I was loading it out? I started with fuel drums and was on my way to pick up a base. I did add an oil wash of W/N Burnt Umber to the DUKW. I'm thinking about doing a Sherman for the GB as well.

You know, I was just thinking about that last night. Had to rearrange the stash a bit (how can it still be getting bigger??) so I was checking out the contents of some boxes...one of my favorite modeling pastimes.

I'm really tending toward modeling something in the "visiting colors" if you will...I marked the kits above that I have with appropriate markings in bold - most likely the ones I would go with. Also thought I had a Spitfire in U.S. paint, but I didn't see it tonight. Hmmm. Any requests?

One question - do the Achilles (assuming this counts as an M10 Wolverine) or Fireflys (upgunned Sherman) qualify as a lend/lease vehicle?

 Frangkly, Love the colors of the spitfire. Looking very nice.

 Dupes, That's a nice diversified selection. My "Stash" is about 80% German AFV's.

Israel use the M4A2 in all types on vereation also the Stuarts, an Destroyers.The used some of the same takns vts.

dupes: Yes, both the Achilles and Firefly qualify as Lend-Lease vehicles. So their both acceptable builds for this GB. Lookin' forward to your choice for this build, dupes!

It appears that the Soviet M4A2 is getting the nod - that box art that White_R34 posted is indeed the kit I've got in the closet. Amazingly enough, I don't have a Sherman built up in 1/35 so I have no problems going in that direction. I'll put the Honey in second place for a potential additional build if I get a chance.

Have any of you guys built up one of the newer Academy Shermans? Any issues? I'm liking the looks of those rubber block tracks...very Achilles-like. That 76mm sure does make it look more like a Firefly! Nifty! 

 Sorry can't help on that one. I haven't built a Sherman since Italeri's offering was new! That has been many moons ago.

Anyways, I hope to get some work done on my scout car this weekend, I can already see theirs gonna be quite a bit of scratchbuilding in my future. Maybe I'll finally get around to finishing the seats tommorrow.Their hasn't been any WIP updates lately, since I've sorta been sidetracked with a 1/48 Tamiya Bren Carrier for another group build, but it's going together like a dream, and all the "scratching" is done. So I sorta want to finish that build before getting back to my scout car, but then again I might come back to my scout car sooner.

Hope everyone is making better progress then me.

 Hey mg.mikael, I am still working on the base and the load out for the DUKW, but it has sorta been sidelined for now.

I have read that the Russian nickname was the "Emcha". Supposedly because 4 resembles a letter in the Cyrillic alphabet that has the cha sound, and contracted with the "M".

So what's up? Where is everyone, since I see no one building or updatin' something for this GB.

As for my self I came down with a fever and strep throat, so I haven't been able to build anything all week. Mainly because I'm loaded up on painkillers and some other meds, so long story short it wouldn't be smart to handle any sharp objects.

Hay you guys I'm sorry I have not posted for some time. I'm building a 1/25 Dodge Dart for a friend as well as working on this project, so I'm jumping from one project to the other. Well any way here's some of my work from tonight.

I'm still working on her and I'll have new photo up real soon.
