Hello Mg.mikael,

Trying like mad to finish a GB project. Did get a Tamiya 1/48 FW190 A3 for an early Christmas present. Looking forward to getting the Lend Lease GB underway and seeing all of the different builds that will be happening in this GB.

So where is everyone(other then Mobious)?!Question [?] Doesn't the majority of folks here celebrate Christmas, or perhaps you celebrate Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. In that case Happpy Hanukkah and Happy Kwanzaa.

I actually celebrate Festivus. Got the pole and everything. Big Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

Actually, I haven't gotten myself any early presents. Just trying to finish up some stuff before January 1st. There are some boxes in the closet that are from various model stores so I think it will be a good Christmas.

Not the kit but the book. I already had the kit and halfway through with it. Tamiya 1/35 Sturmgeschutz III Ausf B. Sorry about the confusion.

I probably should have been able to figure out that it wasn't a kit when you said, "Sturmgeschutz III: The Short Gun Version."  Because who says, The Short Gun Version, if your talking about a kit.  LOLBig Smile [:D]Laugh [(-D]

Hey mg.mikael,

Had to do some last minute shopping for the duck. Not sure when the detail sets will arrive so I'll probably be missing the start date. Looking forward to the GB's opening ceremonies, and will be checking in when all the items arrive before starting.

I was talking about finishing the StuG III before Dec31, so I can start my10 Wolverine. I am also thinking about doing the interior and exterior with PE. Should I try this with the M10 being my third build or should I wait till when I have more builds under my belt.

If you feel up to the challenge, grab the bull by the horns and go for it. However if you don't fell like it then don't, because nobody's forcing you to. It's entirely your decision, but that was my two cents. My 2 cents [2c]

For all those keeping tabs on this GB, here's an official update.

First of all, we have 27 participants with 28 builds!!!

Secondly, we have only 5 days untill the start of this GB!!!Cool [8D]

Third, a new section called "Lend-Lease Links" will be added to the first page. It will be a collection of links about everything involved or about the Lend-Lease Act........if anyone has a link that they want to share. Send me a PM or leave a post and I'll add it to the first page.Smile [:)]

mg.mikael-this one has my attention, but I've got a few other committments to fullfill before I dive in.  One question though-and you may have covered it earlier-if so, I apologize-were the planes of the AVG in China Lend-Lease?

Thanks

Edit-ya' know, ya' just gotta love Google-I found a couple of supporting arguments for the       P-40B's of the AVG and a couple that had timing issues with those specific planes.  One supporting document is below:

http://www.warbirdforum.com/vets.htm

However mg, it is your GB and I'll abide by your decision regarding the AVG P-40B's.

Sorry about not getting back to you sooner, I was working on finishing a build for a GB that ends on the 31st. As for AVG P-40B's, the Lend-Lease program was used to obtain the aircraft for the AVG. So there's no reason why they wouldn't be an acceptable build.Smile [:)] I hope you decide to join up this GB, bobbaily.

Come on, guys. Am I the only one doing a ship? I know there are few kits for Lend-Lease ships but they are not unheard of. The USS Ward of 1941 vintage is out there and the CVE 9 class is what I'm doing and Tamiya makes a nice 1/700 kit of that. Somebody do something that floats!

At ant rate, good luck on your perspective builds and I'm looking forward to great pics.

Don't worry their will be at least one other person building a ship of some sort, lewbud. So you won't be alone.Wink [;)] However he's still deciding on what ship(s).

It would however be nice to see a few more folks building Lend-Lease ships. So if you got a kit in the stash that fits this GB, take it out and build it, no sense in waiting.Smile [:)]

I'm in with the Eduard Hellcat Mk.I/ Mk.II Combo kit. I'll most likely build them one at a time though so I'm not trying to keep the different parts straight.

Pavlvs,

I'll be doing a ship as well (since I fought for them to get in, I better do one).  Haven't quite decided yet.  Thinking about a Wickes class destroyer or a Corvette (reverse lend lease).  White Ensign makes a USCG Lakes class cutter that definitely fulfills my quirkiness quota, but the price is a sticking point at the moment (50.00+bucks for a little 1/700 kit is a little high, not including shipping).  But if I choose to do it, it's the only game in town.

I probably shouldn't do this, but would an F4U-4B Corsair qualify for the Lend-Lease?  According to Wikipedia, this type was scheduled for delivery to the British, but they never made it to their posession.

Otherwise I'll find different kit to enter.

Some sources suggest that at least some of the Corsairs supplied to Britain through Lend-Lease were the "F4U-4B," plus that particular Corsair is known as the Lend-Lease version. So that's good enough for me, the F4U-4B Corsair does qualify for this GB.Smile [:)]

Let me know if you want in on this GB, Glamdring.
