nam,

Okay I am torn between choosing to do the Revell 1/72 PBY-5A or the 1/48 Revell-Monogram Pro Modeler PBY-5A that are in my stash. I'm leaning more towards the 1/48 PBY-5A at the moment.

At this point I am not sure as well as to what scheme I want to do this in I would like to do something different then the Black Cat Squadron look so more reaserch is in order.

I'll post again soon with a more concrete decision.

Oh and there is only one i in my name Laugh [(-D].

Cheers,

Thom

List me for the Revell 1/48 OA-10. Haven't decided yet on which markings though. I'll also looking be looking at getting some of the Academy 1/72s, but that'll be down the road aways.

I will probably get Academy's PBY-5A Black Cat. Would like to make it into a Catalina that flew in the MTO. Thinking tan uppers and the basic light blue lowers with markings like the P-40s that participated in Operation Torch. Still up in the air right now.

P.S.-Does anybody know of any weapon sets or something that have torpedoes in it. I would like to put torpedoes on shackles under the wings if possible.

Warhammer,

Accurate Miniatures makes a WWII ordnance set that has 1 torpedo in it Squadron lists it at around 18.00.  True Details makes a Mk.13 torp in resin, Squadron has them at 2.96 each.

Nam,

Put me down for 1/72 PBY.  Make and model TBD.

THAT would be a very cool scheme, WarHammer! I don't know the MTO load-outs, but PTO carried torps a lot. I'll check refs!

If you haven't seen a thread about this in A/C.....here is the Homepage!

With the recent (finally) release of the Revell PBY-5 (sic).....there is interest in this build. Dates, as noted, are 11:59 pm 10/30/08...... to Halloween 10/31/09, 10 months.....plenty of time.....except for me and Roy!

Rules....any PBY rendition is fine

Any scale

Unfinished starts okay....any beachfront dios welcome also!

"What-ifs" are okay also

If anyone complains, your benevolent dictator shall overrule them!

Lastly......enjoy your modeling!!!!!!!!

GB Members! Initial Military ranks have been assigned! Much thought has been spent on this. (Fairness and all that BSLaugh [(-D]) The boldly noted ranks are set and GB'ers move up as this Benevolent Dictator deems necessary (with outside input!)

Anyone ranked as an S/P is simply awaiting which air force their PBY will be operating in. S for Sergeant.....P....for Petty Officer.

Cardshark, Richard I Richie and Ollie....I'm still researching your appropriate ranks.....if you can help?

Notes: Please include some info as to manufacturer, scale and version/markings when you decide.

The roster thus far:

Sqd. Cdr and Benevolent Dictator LT Nam: an undetermined PBY from 1942-43

Co-Chief Armtwister....LT Daywalker....(Frankie): A Revell 1/48 from VP-41 Aleutian Campaign!

C0-Chief Armtwister....LT(jg)sfcmac....Aaron: A previous release of the 1/48 RevelloGram PBY....a WWII version.

S/P....JMart: A PBY

Flight Surgeon (rank tbd, for always "out of the box" help) HawkeyeHobbies: A PBY

S/P TACAN: A PBY

S/P Warhammer: A PBY...possible MTO w/ torps

Plane Capt. S/P FastasEFF (Josh): A 1/72 PBY5-A Catalina in BlackCat clothing! Great research man!

S/P lewbud: Has Rec'd his 1/72 kit and is doing a version of the Bismarck spotter!

(?) ollie: A Revell 1/48 in RAF markings! Woo-Hoo!

(?) Cardshark...(Alex): A couple Academy 1/72's! A PBY-5 "The Dabster" A-24-64, 43 Sqd, RAAF! and a Mk.!b "Jossing II" , JW 933.

S/P kg4kpg (Chris) 1/48 Revell PBY-5 re-entered but not with the "Always" firebomber. Would like to get or trade for some Jack Reid decals for his build.

CPO....Hans von Hammer: A 1/48 PBY-5 Nightsider......we have dragged him from the depths of the Darkside! Astute knowledge of WAY too much.....solid ref.

PO 3 RichardI....Building the Rev 1/48 PBY OA-10A....all OOB!

Sergeant(USMC) MIflyer(kevin): A Minicraft 1/144th PBY-5 Black Cat OOB that we'd love to see!

Contributing Armtwister...Bosun of the Dog Poop  Bondoman 1c! A 1/72 Academy PBY-5A, heavily modified into a SuperCat!

S/P Hot-Pb (Tony)  Jack Reid's 44-P-4 from Midway!  Revell  1/48 PBY - 5!

Flight Sergeant 1st Class  Sunnas (Nick): a Pro Modeler PBY 5-A, A24-104 of 111 Air/Sea Rescue Flight, early 1945! Quick Boost engines, True Details wheels and pit....AND Eduard PE! WOW! Wanna see that one!

Chief Warrant Officer (Pilot) Summit (Sean) Has joined with a 1/72 Academy PBY-5.....1945-ish CG, V-159!

(Undetermined) Division 6 (Eric)....an eclectic plethora of PBY plans that boggles this small mind!

Is there a bit of cronyism involved here? Mebbe a little. But I didn't ask for this and I'm trying to dedicate myself to making it interesting on the Forums. Your Benevolent Dictator watches over all of you.....besides....it's all about the PBY!

Very nice selection of kits represented here Folks!

The GB is carrying along well! As I mentioned....please try to post your intentions as to Manf./scale and markings. I'll check everyday and update as necessary.

 Thanks very much!

Thanks for the paperwork Frankie and Aaron!Laugh [(-D]
