JMart: Thanks for the tip. I will keep those in mind the next time I run into the same problem.

Russ: I might have try those out on the King Tiger II I am planning on building.

As for me, I am calling my Do-335B-4 done. For being a difficult build, I am really happy with the way it turned out. I made it to look like a very well used recon plane that would have made numerous overflights of Allied territory. It is a tail-sitter even though I stuffed all the split shot I could in the nose. So I think I might build a base for it with a couple of figures and a Kubelwagen. Here are some pics of the finished build:

As always, questions and comments are welcome.

Sorry about some of the pics, they got kind of blurry because of the bright sunlight in the background and the fact that I probably need to invest in a better camera. Well, as soon as I finish a P-47D for the USAAC GB, I will start my second build for this GB and the Reich Defender GB, the 1/32 Hasegawa Bf-109K-4.

WarHammer,

The Do-355B-4 turned out nice indeedThumbs Up [tup]. The well worn look is perfect for the conditions the Luftwaffe would have faced in 1946. The recon flights would have been very active so they could make the best use of their limited resources.

Look forward to the 109!

As for the Meteor I was able the make some more progress this weekend.

Decals are all on. Applied a sludge wash and dull coat.

View of opposite side.

Views of cockpit.

View of engine. I did not glue the access panels so they could be removed to view the engine.

I couldn't finish the landing gear today because I was out of aluminum paintSad [:(]. Will have to pick some up the the way home tomorrow. Masked the canopy so that is ready to paint. Getting closeSmile [:)]. However I was informed the the boss today that the family room and kitchen are to be painted before I start any more buildsSigh [sigh].

Anyway that's all for now. Thanks for looking.

All these really neat a/c have got me motivated to pull a Matchbox Lysander out of the vault for another GB.......

So a small amount of painting done on the M26, road wheels and some bits here and there. Next session should finish it.

Thanks for looking, and as always, comments and critiques are always welcome.

Tom: Thanks! Your Meteor is looking really good. I like how you can display the engine panels open. Keep it up!

Russ: Glad to get you motivated. Big Smile [:D] The Lysander is a cool plane to build though. Your Pershing is looking awesome. Can't wait to see the finished product.

JMart: Thanks for the compliment!

Hi all!,

I'm calling the Meteor essentially complete. I may add some paint chipping effects around access panels and walkways as well as some fluid leaks.

The Tamiya kit like most Tamiya kits is well detailed with few fit issues. The only challenge was the wing roots and even these were not that difficult to deal with. Overall it was an enjoyable build and my first group build contribution!Smile [:)] So I've accomplished one of my goals for 2009 and look forward to participating in more gorup builds.

So without further ado here are some pictures of the finished Meteor.

I used pastels to simulate the gun smoke stains.

Again pastels were used for the stains behind the shell ejection ports.

Thanks for looking. As always questions and comments welcome.

Tom, great work on the Meteor.

The finish looks spot on.

Warhammer, the 335 looks brilliant.

Love the recon camo scheme.

RBaer, the weathering on the Pershing is top notch.

Adds real interest to the overall OD finish.

The 262 is almost complete, unfortunately work has been heavy of late, which has really slowed me down.

Question:

I am new to this whole modeling/group build thing...does the start date of 1/9 also mean that was also the cut off to participate?

Thank you

Mike Unless specified, the start date is just when you can start building, for this GB, the 1st jan this year. I don't think it is to late to enter.

Not sure how i missed this one. Seeing how i won't be able to build my entry for the fantasy Fliers build, i would like to throw my hate in for this build. Not sure what i will enter yet, but it will most likely be a 1/72nd German aircraft.

Well thanks for the fine 'hello'!

Looks like a real fun project.  Honestly, I probably need a little prodding as I have a bad habit of starting things and then they sit, about 50-80% done...and I stare at them and wonder why I don't get off my rump and finsh them up!  Ha ha!!

Karl: Thanks. Looking forward to seeing the 262!

Bish: Welcome aboard! I will add you to the front page. Just let me know what you decide to build.

Mike: Welcome to the GB! It is not to late to sign up. JMart is right, some haven't even started yet. I even have two more planned projects for this GB to go. And I am sure you will get encouragement and some prodding if necessary to help you finish a build. You as well will be added to the front page. Please just let me know what you will be building.

A little update from myself. While waiting for some paint to dry on the P-47D, I started the Bf-109K-4. Looks like a very nice kit and should build up great. I didn't get much done, but should get at least the pit done over the weekend.

Wow guys, some very nice work done here.

Karl, I can't tell you how impressed I am with your results on that 262, words simply fail me here.

Warhammer, man I love the whole what-if idea on Dornier Arrows and yours is really working for me. The wing extensions really made the build.

RBaer, what can I say other than, dude - that's really heavy. Whistling [:-^] I can just feel the positive waves.

Tom, masterful job on the Meteor, you are inspiring me to pull one of mine out of the stash so STOP IT, I'm too busy already!

I am going to go with Italeri's 1/72 Mistel. If time allows i may enter a 1/35 tank also, but i will see how much time i have. Just realised i could have entered my Kugelblitz for this, that will teach me to pay attention.

Bish, is that the Mistel with the 109F?

If so you might want to replace it with another manufacturer's 109 as the Italeri F is distinctly off.

Swanny, I take that as a major compliment.

I was hoping to finish up the 262 this week, as I've had some time off, however I spent the last week with a chest infection instead. Best laid plans and all that!

Yes it is, thanks for the warning, i have had it in the stash for years but have not checked it out. A Model do an F-4, so might give that a try. Any one know what these kits are like.

Matt: Thanks a lot!

Bish: I will put you down for the Mistel. I don't know anything about the A Model F-4. Looking forward to some updates.

Bish, you could always go with an Academy G-6 or a Revell G-10, seeing as this is a what if GB.

Both are fairly cheap, or alternatively a Revell 190 F/A-8.

Oh. A G-6 or G-10 would be cool. Academy's G-6 and Revell's G-10 are both very reasonable. A G-14 or Fw-190D-9 could make for a pretty neat build too. Again, Academy makes both a G-14 and a D-9 for a good price.

Ye, thats true, i hadn't thought of that. Different versions of the Mistel had different carrier fighters. I have a spare hasagawa 109G-6 i am not sure what to do with, thanks for the ideas. I'll have a good think about which one i will use.

KJ200 do you know what would need doing to the Italeri kit to corredt it as i would like to use it in the future weather as a Mistel 1 or a stand alone F-4.

Bish, if memory serves me the wings are all wrong, too broad at the fuselage, which would be a major problem to fix.

Alright. Hope everyone is well. Been kind of quiet around here lately. Well, I started my Bf-109K-4 and let me say it is a much better kit than the Dragon Arrow. Here are some progress pics:

Pic of the pit after paint and weathering:

Left sidewall:

And then the pit after final weathering and adding Eduard belts:

Here is were I am as of today:

Warhammer,

Really nice work on the cockpit. Any other PE other than the belts? If not, that's really nice molded details and your paint and weathering looks excellent.

Look forward to following the build.

Cockpits make me glad I don't do too much in the way of tank interiors......

I got some serious modeling in this weekend, and a priority was the Pershing. Barring the lenses in the headlights I do believe this one is done, unless the pics show up something I've missed. Thanks for looking, and of course comments are always welcome. I'll be sticking around this GB also to see the results of the wild and wacky projects going on here.......

RBaer, stunning job on the Pershing.

The stowage and weathering look spot on.

Warhammer, that 109 is coming along real nicely.

The 262 is complete, I just need to take some pics.
