Hey there Huxy! Bondoman let me know of the great work and history happening here in this GB thread! Thumbs Up [tup] I am one of those poor lost souls over in the Fleet Air Arm GB and been going strong since they transitioned from US Navy subjects over to FAA and  Coastal command subjects on May 1st.

Reason he mentioned the Norway build to me is I am currently working on quite a pair of kits. The Special Hobby Blackburn Skua and Roc in 1/48 scale.  These are beasties of limited run kits and tough builds but the Skua is specifically listed as the Norwegian Campaign.  All three options included in this kit are of Aircraft from the HMS Ark Royal. All three options are of aircraft that were lost on July 13th 1940 during an attack on the Scharnhorst.

I haven't seen any of these built up yet and after working on my this last 2 weeks I can understand why. If it is ok with you I could show some in progress pics and hopefully some of the finished model soon.

Great reading and great builds going on here!

Hey Huxy, Started on the FW190. the Tamiya kit is really well engineered. It has went together with very little effort and has been fun. I haven't built many WWII aircraft and even fewer Luftwaffe aircraft.

This is where the construction is at.

The build has been going really smooth. It's been going so fast that I fogot to get photo's of the pit. Oops. Anahu, Just letting you know I'm still in this thing. And hopefully will have more to post.

Jay, the FW 200 Condor is cool. I like the squiggle camo. Very nice.

The FW190 is in primer and have went over the seams a couple of times.

Well some tough times for the Butcher Bird, I had her painted and the upper wing decals set, went to get a reference book, and BAMO! Dropped a book on her as she was setting on the tool box.A broken landing gear strut was the damage from the pilot error. Anyway drilled and added brass and reattached the strut and she looks to be none the worse. Still waiting on decals, but I'll try to get some photos up later.

Hey Jason, Here are a couple shots of the 190 and the repair. I haven't done the unit number yet and still have more decals to apply. The whole build so far has hinged around the little white circle that is part of the unit number. I used a white circle decal as a guide and painted the black border and repainted the white area by hand. I'll be coating them with Future before proceeding with the decals.

I checked the wing tip height and visually checked for alignment at 3 points.

Great job on the repair, can't even tell!

I love the paint and decals

Huxy I'm going to try my hand at 700th ship the German battlecruiser Gneisenau. This should be fun.

Thanks Jay for the positive comments. Did get some more done on the FW190. I've added the unit numbers and squadron emblem to the port side. Painted the prop and added the spinner decal. Painted the canopy and added the girls name also. Started adding a pin wash to the panel lines too. Here are a couple photos of White 11+o of 9/JG5.

The canopy hasn't been fixed yet, I'll have to remove it to apply the dullcoat.

As soon as I get the unit numbers for the starboard side things should move along quickly. I still have a bit to do on the lower surface(ie: panel line wash, decals, detail paint). I should have that all done. Just set the unit numbers, finish the weathering, then dullcoat.

After seeing that FW200 Condor you've built with the cool squiggly camo, I've been considering a twin engined Night Fighter. Might just build that Tamiya Eagle Owl that has been calling to me to build for awhile now.

Hi there.. Been following the GB in a shadow..

Sad to hear about the accident, but the plane came out REALLY well! Almost like the accident helped? Big Smile [:D]

And happy belated D-day, everyone..    Here, let me give you some more Norwegian WWII history.. This time about D-day!

You know how many Allied ships the German Kriegsmarine sunk on this date, that participated in the landings?  One.. Off nearly twelve thousand ships that was there, the German Kriegsmarine sunk just one.

It get's even weirder...  Off all the twelve thousand ships there, the Kriegsmarine did find their way to a Norwegian ship. We had like.. 3-4 bigger ones?  I just find that too weird. The unfortunate vessel, HNoMS Svenner:

[Picture from Wikipedia]

Uboat.net writes the following about it:

History:

Svenner (Lt.Cdr. T. Holte) was torpedoed and sunk off Normandy during an attack by the German torpedo boats T 28, Möwe, Falke and Jaguar.
The wreck lies in 31 meters in position 49º27'42"N, 00º15'06"W. 41 Norwegians and 2 British died, 187 of the crew survived.

Funny, isn't it?

Thanks Jason, the spinner decal went on pretty straight forward, used Micro-set to get it into postion then Micro-sol to get it to lay flat and take care of any tiny wrinkles. I overshot the center by < .5 mm and had to trim with paint.

Hey Huxy, Thanks. I should clobber all my aircraft with a book!Wink [;)] That is a very interesting article on the HNoMS Svener. Strange fate indeed.

Hey Jay, any plans for a dio/base with the Destroyer? I've seen a model of the Blucher, but I haven't built a ship model in a LONG time. I did get the decals for the FW190. Just haven't had motivation. Actually I almost finished a Bf109 in service with JG27 in Africa. Wasn't real happy with the canopy. I should have fixed it prior to paint. As it was, I made an error and paited the lower glass panels and broke the rear section. I did get it in place, but it looks horrible. I plan on replacing it with an aftermarket one. AnyHugh, I should get back on track and get the decals on White 11+o and have her finished up soon. Looking forward to seeing the 1/700 destroyer progress.

I'm not sure. I may try a water base to see how it goes, if it goes well then I'll added it to the German Battlecruiser I'm planning on doing.

I may have missed that ship...

Give me the information again, please Smile [:)]

Looks like a great start however!  I myself prefer full hull ships...

For me, things are very hectical nowadays, as I got a VERY short deadline for a diorama.. A POW camp that was in Norway.. Check out the Diorama section, page 2 for a little more right now..

The Gloster Gladiator is indeed done, but still awaiting to be photographed..

Hey Huxy, I'm going to call this nearly finished. I still need to add the radio antenna, but I wanted to use music wire and haven't found any yet. Here are a couple photos of White 11+o of 9/JG5 stationed in Norway early 1945.

 Thanks for checking in.

Mobious great work on the 190. I love it but there is something about hte landing gear angled in that just bothers me. (not on yours just the really planes)

That is one SWEET build! I really love it! Wonder what's the deal with that rising sun emblem?

Have to agree with Jay..  Altough a nice plane, it is actually ugly. The wings aren't rather beautifully designed, having somewhat weird shape, especially at the end, and being EXTREMELY fat at the front, very short, and very thin at the end... And those tall, thin, weird angeld gears..

Hah.. It's so ugly it IS cool.. Wink [;)]

Now Mobius, when people are looking at your model display, you can tell them that that plane has the same markings as one had in oxxupied Norway.
And knowing many foregins, they don't really know where Norway is, if they have even heard of it..   Yeah, I stumble on lots of people like that.. Either they don't know it, or think it's the capital of Stockholm in Sweden, or it's in Texas, or they do actually know it very well and love it..

Kind of weird, because when looking at a map, Norway does look like on of the biggest:

Well, todays ramble's done..  Midnight here now. Night!   And I love the look of that Focke Wulf!

Oh, a bit more..   Focke Wulf was made by Fokker, right? Well, you all probably know Fokker 25, 50 and 75 that is a modern twin engined airliner? Well, Fokker 50 is the most used here in Norway today of those three...   We call the coastmopeds Laugh [(-D]

A bit late on my part but.... (LOL!) the attack by the S-Boats and sinking of the Svenner is well covered in the book, "The Longest Day". This attack was pretty much the only offensive action against the landing by the DKM on D-Day, just like Priller's strafing run on the beaches. Allied air and naval superiority was that complete in daytime. Pin pricks against the Allied landings. I believe there was also an American destroyer that was lost to shore batteries after either grounding or hitting a mine off Omaha.

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...
