I will update the roster with our new members:

Thunderbolt379 (Mike), dogzilla17 (Mike) and RBaer (Russ) Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the No More Excuses GB.

Russ could you give me a complete list of the scale, brand and type of kits you want added to the roster.  Also when you complete a build I will post a picture of it on the roster.

Would anyone that notices that I need to update their roster build please let me know.

Roy, here it is:

1/25 T-34, it's a Korean knock-off of the old Tamiya kit, can't remember the actual brand name.

1/35 Trumpeter KV-1, I think it's the "simplified" turret version.

1/35 Academy Merkava 2

1/35 Sherman, built from parts by about every currently in business model maker that does a Sherman and some AMT M1 parts. I really don't know at this point all and what it will end up using, but it'll look like a Sherman, sort of.....

Well I have made some mmore forward progress on the Storch. Been putting this real estate monster off long enough. Masking was a challenge to say the least. Not much room in the booth with this one.

FSP1 Last coat of "Sandgelb" has been sprayed.

Looking Good Sean!  Good thing you don't build too many in 1/32 scale eh?  ...but then again, how are you going to get the 1/72 Me 323 in the booth! Shock [:O]

One of the reasons I have not painted it yet. I am waiting for fair weather here again so I can paint it outside . July is just around the corner. Sigh [sigh] Laugh [(-D]

Royal Australian Navy A4-G scooter is finished.  Only needed the canopy done and some highlighting of panel lines.  1 down, 3 to go !!

Well here is the current state of my Flanker.  To refresh your memories it is the Su-27B Flanker from Revel of Germany.  Started this several years ago and then lost interest.  This is as close as I can come to the paint scheme that I have seen on the well worn Flankers. Main colors are mixes from tamiya paints and Model Master acrylics.  The engine colors are Model Master metalizer paints with a bit of clear blue.  I added brale lines to the landing gear and used a bunch of the Eduard PE set (Cockpit and some other places).  The canopy will be positioned open so I am not worried about the poor fit if it right now.

Next step is decals and then another gloss coat, then the weathering!

Thanks for looking.

Matt

Paul, nice work on the scooter!  Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  It looks great in the Aussie markings.

Matt, the Flanker is looking really good too.  the paint scheme looks great and the clear blue on the exhaust is a nice touch.  I'll have to file that tip away for later.

count me in too!

I probably have something like three or four dozen models in various states of building...for starters I will throw my hat in the ring with a 1/48 Tamiya A-1H Skyraider.  Been sitting for some time now and all I ever got done was some prelim painting and cockpit assembly.  Guess I better get going!

Hey, Wyoroy. Sorry about disappearing lately. School's been really busy and I've had almost zero time to come on here. (In case any of you were wondering, Latin is not a fun language to learn...) I have had a little time for the workbench though. The VW is virtually done, I've added the siding to the base and it needs a little more weathering for the dirt on the ground. My B-17 is also going nicely, the fuselage and wings are attached. I have to finish up filling the seams and then its time for paint. I also found the first wheel, so I don't need to cast one. Aside from that, nothing is really new. Again, I do apologize from being gone. I'll try to stay in touch more...

Graham.

Still slowly plodding away on this one, will feel good to get her done. I am liking how the colors look more and more after the wash.  Did the wash with artists oils and mineral spirits, used gray and raw sienna in random mixes to get the changes that I wanted.

Here she is after decals and the weathering.  Not sure yet if I want to do another round of weathering.

Thanks for looking

Matt, I don't build wingy things but I have to say that is one NIIIIICE Flanker!!  You're doing a great job finishing it up!!Thumbs Up [tup]

I finally had some time for one of my shelf queens.  Its the 1/35 Italeri M4A1 Sherman that I started 2 years ago:

Finally put a coat of paint on a YEAR ago (its the one on the far left):

It's NOW looking like this:

Most of the markings were painted using self-adhesive stencils and brass PE stencils. The darn white background has a tendency to cause my camera to overexpose so some of the shading and highlights on the OD paint are washed out, but its there.  Still have do some detail painting and weathering.  Hopefully it should be done in a couple of weeks.

Ernest, that looks fantastic!  One of the reasons I don't do armor is that I have no idea how you get the shading like yours, great work.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] Ernest-the Sherman looks great.  One question about the first/top photo-why the different colors on the hull & turret?  Did you add texture for the casting effect?  Was it 'pre-shading'?

Roy, Bob, thanks for the nice words.  I hope it turns out well...its my first time finishing an OD painted tank!

Bob, the white/gray stuff on the model in the first photo is Mr. Surfacer 500 stippled on for a cast texture effect.  After reading several magazine articles on this technique I realized I did it differently than normal.  Most modellers stipple it on rather heavily covering the entire surface, but I just lightly stippled it on.  Probably not as effective, but it looks OK for my first time!!

Ernest that is one nice looking Sherman.  One of these days I'll try my hand at one.

Thanks all for the comments.  Here are a couple shots of round two of the weathering for my Flanker.

I used the Brurnt Umber color for this layer.   The pics show a bit more of the process that I use to get the weathering.

Thanks for looking,

Matt
