I'm calling the BRT-70 done -- one tool to attach and mount the radio antenna. Gallery photos coming tomorrow, about this time.

Hi all,

Gallery shots: here's the Zvezda (ex-Dragon) 1:35 BTR-70, built out of the box, in Afghan War markings. I left off the grenade launcher on top of the turret as the small parts broke on the sprue. She's painted with Tamiya acrylics, weathered with oil washes and Mig pigments. The spare tire and water cans are simply resting in place, I have no idea if they were bolted down to fittings underneath or were lashed in place. If the latter, and I come across references, I'll add some lashings at a later date. The periscopes are still to be painted, that'll be a separate session. Many of the lenses were added by me from strip plastic.

The decals in this kit have been called attrocious, but i found the decals themselves were fine, it was the backing paper that was attrocious, it wouldn't release them to slide. Once I coaxed them away from the backing, they behaved very well.

The kit is not as friendly as it might have been, but I'm overall pretty happy with the result.

Enjoy the pictures, I'm off to grab my badge.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Maybe we get a second round of the build going?  I have at least 5 or 6 kits I would like to finish one day but just haven't done it yet.

Or maybe there is a GB that I missed?

On Ed's bench, ???

Not a bad idea.  I wasn't able to complete/start about 4 GB's this year.  Heck... I may even attempt to host this one.

I'd go for another round -- I have three or four on the shelf that have been hangar-queens for a lot of years...

I wish I could host it also but there is no way I could dedicate the time that is needed, heck it's hard enough for me to just finish a kit lately.
