Looking good guys keep it up.

Sadly, I haven't done anything on the F-14 lately, been busy with work, physical therapy, and getting in shape. I'll try and get down to the bench to do SOMETHING, but right now I'm just motivated in other areas of life.

stik - your LAV is looking very nice!  Can't wait to see her all finished up!  I've tried Polly Scale paint and love it for basecoats, but I have a real problem using it for detail painting like camo patterns.  The tip dry is terrible!  Do you have any tips?

dirtball - wow! that's a big F-105!!  The paint job is beautiful!  Its going to look awesome when done!

dupes - you've got unfinished builds??  What about your entries for the 1000 Roadwheels GB??Tongue [:P]  (like I should ask!!!Whistling [:-^])

Ernest, I often have problems with drying in the tip of my airbrush when using polly scale, although that did not happen this time. I suppose the main reason for that was because I over thinned the paint. When I do get clogging I keep a micro brush or pipe cleanere handy to dip in Testors universal acrylic thinner to clean it out real quick.

A shot of the P-47:

Really really wanted to get the Academy decals to work - the checkerboard nose pattern was terribly cool. Unfortunately, as is the case with Academy decals, they didn't. So I resorted to using markings in a Super Scale set I had - which are for a razorback P-47. So accuracy is out the window, but she WILL GET FINISHED!!!

Dupes, nice build. Good luck with the decals, my friend

Not really an update. Nothing done lately on the 105...but the F-86, well...I didn`t like it. Tore the whole thing apart to save the pit. Gonna start all over again and use another fuse WITH DETAIL, and not sand all of it off. I`ll post more soon...........Harv

Looking great guys.  I have not gotten much done on my stuff.  Been fighting a nasty cold the past week or so.  I'm at the end of it now.

Looks like we've had some action here in the last month!

dupes - the P-47 is looking very nice!  The T-Bolt is one of my alltime favorite U.S. fighters of wWII!

dirtball - I checked out the F-105 in the A/C forum (gasp!Shock [:O] how often do I go there??) and its looking like a beauty!  I really do love the camo work you did on it!

Hopefully I'll have time this year to finish one more shelf queen...just have to complete the Pz IV A first!

Wow Dupes, that's a sweet looking Thunderbolt!

Okay, drumroll, I might actually have some progress pics soon! I was looking around for a job I could do on short notice and it loks like putting the paint on my Zvezda BTR-70 will be it! Not meaning to jinx it by talking about it, but here goes!

Here she is, guys, Zvezda's (ex-Dragon) 1:35 BRT-70 sprayed into the closest equivalent to the grey base colour the Russians used in Afghanistan, British Dark Sea Grey (Tamiya XF-54), overall.

Photobucket" border="0" />

Next up with be the green disruptive pattern, again in acrylics. With the heat down in Aus at the moment I have to extend the thinner ratio by 20% to try to offset drying speed, but even so it's a teensy bit rough. That's okay for armor. Another trick is spray early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the heat, or run the airconditioning and get the workshop cooled right down before painting.

Note that the grenade pitcher mounted on the turret has been omitted. The parts were tiny and fragile (displaying their Dragon pedigree), had no location devices and broke when touched, so I'll leave them out. This vehicle hasn't been fitted with it yet!

I've been holding off finishing this one for ages because I couldn't figure out what to do about the front vision flaps. I wanted to do them up but that would mean masking the windows, and as they were simply transparent plastic stuck to the back of the window component I couldn't think of a way to mask them that would not dislodge the clear sheet and have it fall into the interior. The answer is simple, spray the window area before assembly and rough-mask it -- so I'll do that on another BTR kit at some point and do this one with the armored flaps lowered. Of course, like any kit with openable parts, posing them closed reveals the fact they don't fit very well!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Thunderbolt comments from Thunderbolt! That makes them extra special, doesn't it...? Laugh [(-D]

That's a cool looking build you've got there. I wish more people (including myself!) built modern stuff like that. Is the Zvezda plastic exactly the same as the old DML molds?

Hi Dupes -- as far as I know it's identical, though some extra details may have been added. On their issue of the T-72B Zvezda molded an alternate set of roadwheels, and I'm not sure if the ERA edition was a Dragon option or a Zvezda update. And I'm STILL searching for a set of vinyl tracks for that thing, as the L&Ls are blown in a kind of plastic that is brittle and so unfriendly to glue that I gave up on the first attempt...

Finally made some progress on one of my entries, to recap this is the Lindberg Kingfisher in 1/72. Been doing a bit of filling and sanding in the past few weeks but did not post any pictures (no one wants to see pictures of piles of sanding dust, right?).

Anyway I have some paint on it and I hope the progress will come quickly to finish it off.

Here's the GB badge for this build.  I think it captures the theme nicely.

Howdy!

I happened to have just tripped over a box last week that contained something I started years ago! Since the deadline has been extended may I join in? My build thread is in science fiction at /forums/1233632/ShowPost.aspx

Please let me know?

Thanks in advance!

I have my M12 GMC nearly complete... all Ineed to do is add stowage and a final coat of dust/dirt for weathering. Since it has finally stopped raining here as of today, I should be able to finish it next Friday.

I'm gonna call this one 98.5% done as of tonite...

Your M-12 is looking great, i wish my armour turned out like that!

I got some more done on the Kingfisher, paint is just about done and decalling started. I stuffed up one of the wing roundels and need to find a replacement. The clear parts were popped off since I found sanding residue under them when I removed the masking. They have been cleaned up and are ready to go back on.

Stik -- beautiful SPG! Looks solid and tough! 747 -- those are really attractive markings on that lil Kingfisher!

Progress report -- I finally got around to doing the topside disruptive scheme in my Zvezda BTR-70! I checked some online references and it seems that the endlessly ellusive definitive Russian Green has been tied down, however nebulously, to a value somewhere around FS 34098, though according to ex-Soviet Army sources there were a variety of greens and any would be used as available and required. Soooo, I made a decision and used Tamiya XF-58, which is said to match FS 34097, close, although I make no claim to understanding the finer points of the Federal Standard color reference system.

I fired up the Paasche and applied it with the #1 tip, the paint went on smoothly and without overspray, lying down nicely over the XF-54 Dark Sea Grey base. Then I mixed some XF-54 1:1 with XF-2 flat White for a mist coat to fade the top surfaces subtly. With that, I think the painting phase of this beast is done, other than the tools and fittings and maybe a touchup on the tires.

Next comes oil wash weathering and drybrushing in enamels, then decals and dust (pigments). I'll certainly have this one done before the deadline.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Well, I finally ran out of excuses and actually finished something on my overly ambitious list. I'm tempted to pat myself on the back here.....

The Trump KV is going in the case, calling it done. I added an old Verlinden figgie and put his hatch on, making him look right at home.

I tried some different lighting and a clean background, but it looks like I got the pics a little dark. I'll try for some better pics, but this is it.

Edit: A little touch up.....

Edit again: different pics, a little better.

I finished up my M12 this afternoon in time to take it to this evening's IPMS chapter meeting. Placed 3rd in the advance catagory. Considering I had a minor disaster with the decals in the afternoon, that is not bad. I will get pics posted in the morning here. Now to ratchet down on a few more over the next two weeks....

Since I started this Trumpeter LAV-25 in January I guess I don't qualify for this one.

Maybe next time.

Fantastic weathering, Stik, and I love the stowage, very natural! The lighting is a tad harsh which has burned out the dust probably rather paler than it is in reality, but this is obviously a highly professional result. Congratulations!
